  1. Hi Travis The printers are set to the default margins "ref above" as is the Boarder tool which is 20mm all around. I don't seem to have any control of this line set at the page size and grey boundary area other that setting the ISO print size? G4 Powerbook, 1.5GB Ram, OSX 10.4.10, VWA+RW 12.5.2.
  2. With reference to the Boarder tool and double line printing. The tools boarder size reflects the sheet paper size i.e. A1=841mm x 594mm or A3= 420mm x 297mm etc. You also seem to have a greyed boundary area outside this boarder/page size that will change size when you change the printer settings from sheet to roller feed paper and it seems to reflect the printers margins, I don't know why, it should be fixed to the ISO print size? (This is more visible on screen at A3) My printers are the Hp Designjet 130nr and Designjet 10ps. The Sheet paper margins are: Top 0.50cm, Bot 1.20, left 0.50, Right 0.50cm The Rolled Paper margins: Top 0.50cm, Bot 0.50, Left 0.50, Right 0.50cm I have have set all the document and printer settings to ISO A1 and ISO A1-roller feed. The page/boarder dimensions are all Ok 841x594 but it does not seem to make any difference I still get the boundary line, its like the whole boundary and boarder has been scaled down into the 841x594 sheet and offset by the printers margins some how, but the drawing is at the right scale? Go figure the whole experience of printing and pdf seems to be really buggy Any ideas?
  3. Thanks Ray but they don't seem to do a Mac version?
  4. Hi all I have been trying to find hi-quality textures for new and weathered timber cladding, green and seasoned oak beams and Douglas fir etc. I have Dosch and Marlin and I have trawled the web but no luck.
  5. I have some Dosch Textures and I have found some don't work with VWA even though they say they are compatible. Its a known fault and but I am not sure VW has fixed it?
  6. Yes please and extend it to 3D objects
  7. I have just spent 3 hours of torture! I have a Mac G4 Power book, it only has 2 USB ports so when one is taken up by that ''''''' dongle I have to revert to using the macs touch pad so I can connect the printer. Please get rid of the dongle!!! When I first bought VW it didn't have one, why now? Could you also sought out the Boarders I ended up getting rid of all of them from my sheets as they don't seem to print correctly, note printing forum?
  8. Isn't it about time VWA supported fills and hatches for 3d objects. its a real pain having created a great 3d model but then having to trace 2d polygons on a sheet to give a 2d plan image containing the appropriate coloured fills and hatches, or am I missing something?
  9. I agree, its about time VWA supported 3d Hatches and Fills. I must confess I am starting to regret going the VWA route, it is starting to really lag behind its CAD competitors in a range of areas and has done for a long time.
  10. Thanks Jim I have tried that and no luck. I did find out, if I create a SVP then export to PDF its OK but if I save the file after I created the SVP then export to PDF, I get the red box, go figure?
  11. Yep me to! Katie you seem to have a fixed line boarder that corresponds to the print area and you have an internal boarder which you can adjust to that print area boarder via the boarder settings in the Info Palette. Surely you should have the ability to switch of the print area boarder which will enable you to set/aline the internal boarder to what ever area you want in the print area of that sheet. At present you seem to be stuck with what ever your print area is, set by your printer requirements? Carl
  12. Hi All I have just created a sheet containing standard and section viewports and I have exported the sheet as a PDF but the section viewports don't appear in the PDF except a red box with an X through it? any suggestions
  13. I have created a viewport containing 2 buildings, all is ok, scale 1:100, view front, projection orthogonal and perspective blank and a viewport size of AX:381.774 AY:73.086. I then click perspective and the viewport virtually disappears, its just a few highlighted dots with a size of AX:2.479 AY:2.479. I then increase the viewport size AX-AY to 200 and the scale of the image has changed, so I reset the scale back to 1:100 and the viewport disappears again? Can anybody tell me what is going on and haw I can fix it VWA 12.5.2 Mac PowerBook G4 OSX 10.4.10
  14. Hi I have noticed when I have inserted a door into a wall it does not make a full cut at the bottom of the door and leaves a sliver of the wall beneath it. It becomes visible when you have a door threshold / cill thinner than the wall, so when you render you get a mottling of the textures and colours of the wall and floor beneath it. I have tried to make the door a couple of mill lower than the wall to see if it would make a full cut but it does not work? P.S Sorry for posting a version of this in the wrong discussion area
  15. Most of the pro software I have you are able/licensed to download it to 2 machines and use it at the same time i.e. Adobe / Macromedia and even Maxons Cinema 4d a Nemetschek product allows me to use it on different machines and it also has no dongle? I am just saying it wood be good if Nemetschek could look at this issue because its product in my view that does not meet the way most small practises work from an office, on site and also produces large hires 3d animations and images thus tying up a machine and the software rendering me unable to continue to work. Macromedia had quite a good licensing system pre Adobe take-over or why cant they follow Maxon and the way they license there software.
  16. I would love to have a new skylight tool with the combined features of the window and roof tools enabling you to custom design the rooflight, frame size and detail, flashing and setting within the roof. It would also be nice to have a file of 3d symbols from Velux, The Rooflight Company, and Lumen Rooflight based in the UK Regards Carl
  17. Hi to all There are 2 things I really hate about VWA and I wish Nemetschek would change them. The dongle and a single user/machine licence! Most High-end software is now activated online thus making the dongle redundant. It is an infuriating piece of kit which should be regulated to the bin! As for the single licence, It heavily restricts my work and activities. I am a single, self employed designer, just think haw good it wood be to have a complex rendering taking place at your office on your desktop and also having the ability to visit a new client or undertake work off site which you currently cant do, without dramatically increasing the cost beyond small studios. If Adobe and most other software manufactures can do this so can Nemetschek and by doing so it would dramatically improve VWA appeal and hopefully stop designers moving to other packages. Please Nemetschek grant my wish and include this in your next update Regards Carl
