  1. I do not know the error message, just that it does not want to open/run in VW2011. was created in v11
  2. Good day guys This might have been discuss before and I could not find any direct info and help on it. I have a script to create layerscaff in an old version and does not want to work in the new version. I did not write the script and not to clued up with doing it. What can I do to fix this?
  3. Thanks Pat I think I they made a wrong move on that one. I hate being boxed in and not have the freedom of choice and the fact that it was available and then taken away is like becoming a nun. Also notice that the Ctrl+Shift+x command for fast renders is no more. really Annoying
  4. Did you come right with the Symbols you were looking for?
  5. And Good day to you too Mr V I will as soon as I know all the details. Just got the PC setup today.
  6. Good day All seasons Greetings to all and trust you are ready for this Awesome year. Yes I am BACK!!! New and Improved too. Moved to a new Company and different Province (it's like a State). I was working in VW 12.5.3 on WinXP Pro. I now sit with v.2011 in Win7. Way different and I prefered the layout of Classic to spotlight, which I see is the only option Is there a way of getting Classic Layout? Have Spotlight and Renderworks on board. Will be needing to do some catch up on what v2011 has and how it works different. Looking forward to all the regular comments and advice. Keep Well
  7. Good day Matt Sorry for the late reply I was not notified of your reply What you have done works wonderfully for the setting as the texture is suitable for a lake or dam. I was hoping to vind out how to resemble waves, not big but like the sea shore. I downloaded The VW file, but it does not work. a pop up states "This file is damaged" and the shuts down VW. Thank you for your response and input I appreciate your efforts to help me. Keep Well
  8. Found this very helpfull http://www.prolyte.com/support/downloads/2d--3d-symbols
  9. Thanks Guys Yes I'm STILL on 12.5 and I could not get the right texture for the waves I did make a texture for the sand from a foto witch worked quite well. Will go play around with the Leather texture. Does it look different to this one I used previously? http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=24224&Number=157202#Post157202 (PS - I do not have a leather texture...) I want that fresh blue look with caremel-cream colored sand
  10. Good day All We have a project happening on the beach and need to do a render of the scene. Anyone know how to do waves and sea sand etc? Thanks
  11. Hi Jeremy. What does an HDRI do to the horizon, cuase as I see the sky is very harsh. I should also help with the lighting and so reduse it to be more soft as you say
  12. WOW! Looks so easy. Will go try out this new way of adding grass.
  13. Hi Jeremy In VectorWorks Resource - Textures you need to change the Show Topics in the Display Options box at the bottom of the page. Display all dates. http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=153526#Post153526 http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=111362#Post111362 The links will take you to the site where you can download the tree backgrounds.
  14. Thanks alot. Have been looking for something like this for some time now. The renders look really great, something I can work towards for my outside gigs/setups of stages.
  15. That looks realy good David. I also use that texture. Atleast I'm not the only one still in the dark ages. haha. Jeremy. If you are using a grass texture and it is showing up like that in your render, I'm thinking that the texture is not mapped correctly to show it's actual texture. It could be the persentage or the view that need to be edited. There are a view grass textures out there that work really well
  16. Thanks Grant Will go look for that one as I do not have it. (Man I seriously need an upgrade...
  17. http://techboard.vectorworks.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=128419&page=1 http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=125880 hope this helps
  18. Looks Great Grant I also do not go into Sheet Layers. Maybe they will work better when doing trussing with 120 lights and Litfog. At present I use Design Layers with a camera view in a linked layer. Still get upto 2hrs of rendering time, but if I had to do someting like what grant did, maybe only 30min...and I'm on VW12.5. btw: What background did you use there. Looks realy great and simplistic. Is it HDRI?
  19. I did the Custom Render and to my surprise it tkes less than half the time to Render. Please see other thread. Now remember that Render with the truss and the HDRI I did for this thread...It took +/- 270min with Custom Render. You have so much more options in new VW What you think of Bondevhuis HDRI?
  20. OK So I did the CRW renders... Interresting to note they go much quicker than FWS. I used the plate setting with the plates not filleted and did it in 10min. But now I took the Napkin and did as Ben told me. Convert to NURBS and make a Symbol of that. Placed that in the plate setting symbol which is in the table symbol. It does not want to render. well it tried, but stops the command with no after msg and gives you a white saved image. :tired: Seems I will have to recreate that nurbs curve...pfft :sigh: Settings for Render is medium detail, med sampling, no nurbs, ray traced+transparent shadows set at 64 recursion and anti-aliasing. Edit: Just did a render with Nurbs selected. It worked and took 16min. See Pres2d
  21. Hi Bill Yes to all the above. The Render on other versions, Yes still same setup and I have time now to play around with VW, but it is not working with me. Go see this thread: http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=157134&page=1 Your render is really looking great. Only 30min? Wow! My FWS(Fast with Shadows) take like 95min. Will be doing a Custom Render as dave recomends today to see, but I recon it will hit close to 120min. This was a "Fun Render" to test a new HDRI. (see attached)
  22. OK, so I think I figured out what the cause of this is, but do not understand why it would do so. See attached: Wire frame renders The 1st plate is what I had. 12 dinner and 12 side plate plus 1 large centre plate per table. The plate has 4 edges filleted and my guess is, that is where the problem lies. The 2nd plate is what I recreated as you can not edit a filleted object the same way as you can with extrudes. It has no fillet, just the solid subtraction. When it renders it is much more smoother and when viewing the table in a 3d view it loads almost instantly, unlike the 1st plate where it took awhile to generate each table. Is this a problem for VW to render all these filleted areas? If so Why? Will do Render later and see how it copes...
  23. So I did the render and I get a white image...after 95min. pfft!! :tired:
