We bought VW 11.0, but have not installed yet. How soon before the next update is available? Hidden Line Renderings are a critical part of my projects. I may stay in 10.5 until this is resolved....

Why not take a picture of your wall and make your own texture?

Katie- Did you have any luck getting a further explanation on why the shell fails on large extrudes in both 9.5.2 and 10? I found that it is still possible to work around it by using Solid Subtractions and Blend Edge tools.

I also use hidden line/copy for some finished looks so that the files are simpler and less able to be used by unauthorized folks. In addition, if you ungroup the hidden line copy, it is possible to go back and delete any addition unwanted lines. Makes for a clean product.....

I recently updated from 8.5.2 to 9.5.2. The problem is generating pdf files. I am using Adobe Acrobat 5.0. The resulting file appears as if 3 or 4 different scales exist in the same layer. Even in a single layer file. In plan view, walls are represented twice-in two different scales. In iso views the color of the walls appear as separate objects totally separated from the iso line segments. The Mac G4 also was updated to 9.5.2, and works like a champ. Has any one else seen this happen? I could show an example but do not know where to post it. I am on a Silicon Graphic 320 Visual Workstation with duel 700MHz P3 Processors/20+ gig 7500rpm HD/NVIDA GeForce 256 video card/NP4.0 sp4. If anyone has a clue, I would appreciate the help......

We just updated to 9.5.1 from 8.5.2. I am glad I found this post or I would have been pulling my hair out. It really does pay to look at the past dialoques.....

How can I set prefs for the dimension tool prior to starting a drawing? I would like to set dimension prefs so they are part of my default document. I constantly am going back and setting things in the Object Info window after I generate the dimension lines. I've only been drawing in this thing since MC5. Just can't seem to figure it out or find it in the small print. There. I finally admitted it. This resource is like AA for VW users......the cantor

Thanks to David at tech support, I found that my QuickTime was corrupted. I trashed the old, downloaded and installed new from apple site and life is good.

Somehow I lost the function of the mapping button in the texture window of the object info window. After applying a jpeg onto an object, clicking the 'mapping' button does not open the adjustment window allowing you to fine tune the location of the image on the surface of the object. I tried re-installing VW and RW, but no change. I am on a Mac 8100 with a g3 upgrade card. Help......

I downloaded and installed the ATM you spoke of prior to my initial posting. The glitch appears whether I have one,two, or three lines of text. As far as print drivers, doesn't matter if I am printing to a HP Deskjet 882c, a 5SI, or a Calcomp 1025 pen plotter using MacPlot software. I just can't figure out how to appease the text gods.....

OK, let me re-phrase the problem. Any text that I try to rotate to a 45, 90, or other specified degree only prints in a standard, L to R format. I have looked through all preferences to find a box checked or unchecked, but have had no luck. Any thoughts?

Text that is rotated tries to default back to a standard view while printing. This occurs whether I am creating a PDF,Plotted, or letter-size laser print. I have resigned myself to only using text that is not rotated, but it is becoming more and more of a challenge. I am on a G4/350 running the 8.5.2 version. Any thoughts?

I am not sure if anyone else offers PDF Writer. I do know that I have had excellent success writing files direct from my VW files. I am on a G4/350.

On a mac, go to chooser and select Acrobat PDF Writer. Do your normal page setup and instead of printing hardcopy, you will be generating a pdf file.

OK, I meant VW in the topic... But seriously, is anyone working in VectorWorks on a SGI ? Has anyone on the tech staff had any reason to look into this? I am just trying to determine if I should go over to the dark side.....
