  1. I second that Dan. The lighting options within RW2011 provide superb results.
  2. Hi Gerrit Renderworks 2011 does stills, but can also produce animations by path or by fixed point. You don't necessarily need Renderworks for working with C4D, but it would mean you can texture as you go in Vectorworks and then send the file directly to C4D full version if you wish. HTH
  3. Yeah - it's cool. It also comes with a library of Vectorworks symbols which are a superset of the Lighting symbols supplied by NV. But you can use both. Good for simulation, but you can also use it to pre-program your console as it works with the many software consoles out there, saving money on hiring the venue before the event too!
  4. ESP Vision can do what you need, I believe... and integrates very nicely with Spotlight's workspace. (I do not own any versions of Blade Runner, but have, of course seen it many times)
  5. Hi Mark The secret is to use a starter stair that looks part what you want, and then use the flight and landings tab on the stair configuration to add new elements to the stair as you want. Once you have added the starting and ending elevation, VW will work out how many stairs you need - you can then distribute them between different flights as you wish. You can change the turn angle of each segment as you wish too. In a rush, so sorry I'm not being more specific, but if you need more help, please shout. In the meantime, this should get you started... Tamsin
  6. Hi Tami NV does talk this through in the system requirements. And I must also state that a lot of the knowledge in that document has also come from various tech support knowledgebase articles. I just put it all in one place and organised it a bit better. I'm glad it's helping...
  7. Lit fog works fine... you just need to enable it in the lights. You may find that as you have a 32 bit machine, you will not see the benefits of the new Renderworks...
  8. Take a look here for some information on translating rendering... http://www.vectorworks-training.co.uk/Buy_Vectorworks/Renderworks.aspx There's a file you can download at the bottom of the page.
  9. It sounds like your Page Setup is wrong. Have you chosen the paper size using the Printer Setup button? Also ensure your printer is not scaling during the spooling process.
  10. Hi Tim Have you set a resolution on your sheet layer? You can change the dpi setting for each sheet. Click on the Layers button at the top of the screen on the View Bar and select Sheets. Edit the sheet and change the dpi. It may take longer to render, but you will end up with a better quality image.
  11. Are your layer options set to View Others or Gray Others?
  12. You need to select the window and in the classes tab (I am assuming VW2011 here) ensure that the Glazing field is set to use a class. Edit the class and ensure the class has a glass texture.
  13. Hi all I sometimes encountered this. I didn't ever really get to the bottom of it, but found that if I copied the viewport, the copy would render quite happily while the original just gives me a white viewport (after appearing to render for sometime). I have also managed to coax it by rendering in Fast Renderworks first then cranking up to Final Quality/Custom. BUT my problem only occurs on files I have imported from 2010, and then not for all viewports. Just some seem to be stubborn. So, not sure that this is a lot of help... All the best
  14. The Existing Tree tool is fabulous! Not sure where you are Gilly, but you can come along and see a live demonstration of it on Thursday. Visit our website, register for the event and come along.
  15. Hi Sarah I've not come across the dump string bit before. Sounds like something has gone wrong. I am happy to have a look at the file for you if you like. Don't forget you are welcome to come to us with questions. If you are copying along a curved path, the Duplicate Along Path is what you need. Duplicate Array will work around a circle, along a straight line, or will create a rectangular grid. How are you getting on with your new Mac? Hope you are well. Tamsin
  16. Hi Piranesi comes with something Vedute which you can use to translate your vectorworks file into Piranesi. The best way is to export to DWG first and then open in Vedute - but you will lose information and will lose views that you have setup in Vectorworks. Using Renderworks to export to ePix is a far neater solution!
  17. Hi Pietsy I know we have talked offline about this, but just for the anyone else who may be looking, we have identified the issue and a bug has been logged with NNA. Essentially, your container class for plants should NOT have Use at Creation set. If it does, it seems to cause conflict with the Plant Tags class. This is the case with both 2009 and 2010. All the best Tamsin
  18. Do you want to send me small sample file with a few of the offending plants in it and I'll take a look?
  19. Hi Pietsy In the L-Plant tags class, do you have Use at Creation checked?
  20. Hi Mikael Unfortunately, this is a known problem at the moment. The workaround until this is fixed is to use the hardscape tool with NO joint pattern set and then place a polyline with the correct hatch in the annotations of the viewport. This way, your hatches can be the correct scale, but you can still retain all the other benefits of the hardscape tool (hiding and showing edges, clipping areas and having edges on those, creating pads on terrain or textures beds, etc...) Hope that helps. Tamsin
  21. I'm just wondering if the ID Label tool would help you with this. I am away from VW just at the moment but will check it out and come back to you.
  22. Hi Hans Just to add to that - you are quite right in that your best bet is to convert the terrain into a Mesh and then you can place the texture onto it.
  23. Hi Matt There is one symbol in particular that exhibits this problem. I think it's one from Plant Objects with white flowers on the symbol? Try using a different symbol - or are you seeing this problem more generally? If you have Random Rotation enabled on the Plant - try turning it off - does that make any difference?
  24. Basically, you should not check Mass Overlapping Plants. It's a real red herring and left over from the way plant symbols used to work in the older versions. Now, you should just use the 2D Rendering and control what's visible using the Plants-Components-... classes. If you turn on Mass Overlapping plants, it hides all geometry except the rear-most polygon on the symbol. If that happens to be white, you will also lose colour.
