  1. Is it possible that you have planar objects in the same plane as the textures? And you are using Indirect Lighting? If so, in the viewport, turn off the display of Layer Plane objects and re-render. That should fix it.
  2. Hi Rob Are you able to use the Advanced Properties of the DLVP to change the marker scale?
  3. Area lights in Vectorworks 2011 emit light from both surfaces, so it should not need rotating. How about increasing the Lumens value? I find that the default lumens value (1000) is not sufficient to see the light. Change it to 10000 Lumens and render with Final Quality Renderworks? Does that make any difference? If so, then you can start refining the light levels as desired.
  4. Well - it's just a bit clunky and will need to be repeated if anything changes - so potential errors could creep in. I've sent you a small example file.
  5. Hi Stephen Yes, you can create a worksheet and use the WallAreaNet or WallAreaGross functions to list the wall area. If you like, I'll send you small example.
  6. Hi Anthony I've had a look at your file - and I'm afraid I can't see the problem. Perhaps if you take a screenshot and highlight the object that you believe is incorrect I can help you more? If you want to contact us in the office tomorrow, email support@vectorworks-training.co.uk
  7. Hi Try Adjust Flipped Text. It's in Document Preferences on the Display tab.
  8. Hi Alfresco Yes - select the hardscape and then click on the Reshape tool and choose Show or Hide Edges mode on the Tool bar. Click on the Midpoint of the edges where you want the border to hide. That will do the job. Hope that helps
  9. Thanks Judah - I did see that some had converted. Kind of you to look at refined searches too, but I understand "No promises!" Have a good day.
  10. Hi Matt Have you run Edit > Options > Use Metric Value Lists? You need to first select all the plants before you run this - Click Search and enter a * in the latin name field then click Perform Find to select all). Then, run File > Create Category Plant Lists to refresh the data available to Vectorworks in the Plant Lists. However... I've just done this myself... and it appears to be broken. I will file a bug.
  11. Hi No - I don't think you can do that. The only thing that might be possible is to use Tools > Class and Layer Mapping. That way you could merge all member of the 0 class (DWG layer) into the new class. But I realise you may have other elements within the drawing that you don't want to merge to the new class. You might also want to look at Tools > Utilities > Change Symbol Attrs. This might do what you want - but it won't work on groups. You'll need to run Create Symbol on your grouped elements first. Hope that helps
  12. Hi You will need to double-click the group, choose Edit > Select All and then change the class on the Object Info palette. Then, click Exit Group at the top right of the screen. The group will be retained, but you have edited its contents. When you say you have lots to do, do you mean you have many groups that contain the same geometry? Or does each group have different geometry. If each group contains copies of the geometry in other groups, creating symbols would ultimately be more efficient as one change will be replicated across the entire drawing. Hope that helps
  13. Are you using View > Perspective > Normal Distance? This should give you a reasonable view of your model. Then, you can use the Flyover tool to rotate around the view. If you have a specific perspective view that you like, you can use Save View on the View bar to name and save that view so that you can recall it at any time.
  14. It may sound simple, but are they all Plant objects, created with the Plant tool? If they are just symbols, VW will not recognise them as plants. If they are simple symbols, you can convert them to plants by selecting them and choosing Landmark > Create New Plant. Have you taken a look at the Getting Started Guide? You can watch me make some plants and tell you how to do it... http://www.vectorworks.net/training/getting-started-guides/landmark/index.html Just to clarify, it is not necessary to select the plants first. Also, the visibility of layers and classes will make no difference to the contents of the worksheet. Unless you have edited the selection criteria within the worksheet itself, it will display results for the entire file.
  15. I usually recommend that you work in Layer Plane or Automatic plane. Screen plane is really only for elements that should appear in Top/Plan. So, for example, if you create a hybrid symbol, the screen plane elements will be displayed in top/plan whereas layer plane objects will behave like 3D objects and will display only in a 3D view. A working plane is quite simply the plane on which you drawing. So that could be the screen, or the layer, or any other plane that you choose to define with the Set Working Plane command, or the automatic plane that will sense planes below the cursor. Hope that helps a little.
  16. Hi Motus No, not a bug and definitely no oversight. I am looking at 2013 right now, I have a Site Model in front of me and I clicked the Render tab then applied a Renderworks texture. It's rendering just fine. Tell me more about your process and I'll see if I can diagnose the problem.
  17. Hi When you send the pad with grade limits to the surface, the pad itself remains at the elevation you have defined in the Elevation field. However, the retaining edge sends its corner vertices to the surface of the model. If you then click Reshape, you will see that the retaining edge has blue reshape handles and you can move these to create the effect you want for the modifier. Hope that helps
  18. Hi Stephen When defining resources with Page Units, you are drawing them at their final print size. This makes them immune to changes in scale or page size - they will always print that size. Resources that use World Units are drawn at their real world size. World unit resources will then respond to changes in scale - so you would use such things where they are representing actual unit materials. Page based would be where you wanted to show a pattern that never changes. Hope that's clear. Have a look at some of the hatches that come with Vectorworks. Some of them are page based and some are world based. For example, the concrete hatch is page based and the brick hatches are world based. All the best
  19. Render with Renderworks Style > Realistic Exterior Final. That will import the background into your file. You also need a Heliodon for it to light the sky for you.
  20. Hi Julie It sounds like you might be drawing elements in the Plants-Components-Outline class but that class is set to invisible? Which version of the software are you using? If you are on 2013 and you simply want to replace the 2D graphic with a different one, edit the definition of the plant and choose Copy from Symbol - you can copy 2D, 3D or both from any other symbol that is present in your drawing. I hope that helps
