Page based symbols would be for an annotation. For example, if you were creating a plan that shows a city centre, and will be shown at a scale such as 1:1000, but you will want to be able to see the symbol for the railway station. Hatches and tiles can also be page based - and are used as patterns that will never change regardless of presentation scale.

Hi Miles and Wes I've had a look at the file and my first thought is that those cabinet symbols seem to be page based rather than world based. My gut feel is that you probably want items like this to be world based. So, I suspect they are not sizing as you expect in the viewport, and that appears as a rendering problem. Taking a closer look, but that's our initial diagnosis...

I can't see the rulers in your screenshot, but could the geometry be a large distance from the internal origin of the file? This will cause problems like this. To verify, run Tools > Origin > Locate Internal Origin. If your geometry disappears to a micro-dot, it's probably a long distance from the origin. In an ideal project, the geometry will be close to the internal origin, but will have the project coordination point in the user (world) coordinate system overlaid onto this point. If you have a pre-agreed project coordination point, take a record of the coordinates of this point on the site, and then move everything close to the internal origin. You can set the coordinates using Tools > Origin and then choose Next Mouse Click is and type the X and Y coordinates of the project coordination point into the fields. Click OK, and then click on the internal origin. If you have a series of files referenced together, you will need to repeat this process in all the files. Ideally, the internal origin will have the same project coordination point overlaid onto it. If you just have one file, and are not planning any referencing, and you don't have a pre-agreed coordination point, use the Stake tool to report the Northing and Easting of a known point on your site (the corner of a building for example.). Make a note of this. Then run Tools > Origin > Center Drawing on Internal origin. This will center everything. Then use Tools > Origin and Next Mouse click as described above to set the coordinates of the known point on the building. I hope this helps.

Hi Lisa Yes... I just tested this and it works fine as long as each contained the same mix. I had three Landscape Areas and used Modify > Add Surface to connect them. Then, I tested with a Landscape Area that contains different plants and found that the new plants did not add to the group. Let me investigate...

A Workgroup Folder, which replicates the structure of the User Folder is the way to go. Hi Dan Interesting questions! If your team need contours, all you need to do is set the site model 3D style to 3D contours, and make sure it is also set to proposed. Then, File > Export > Export DXF/DWG. You may want to exclude hidden classes and export design layers as separate files, so that you can discard anything that is not the site model itself. For an XYZ file: Creating an array of Stakes, and on the OIP then setting them to Set elev to Site Model (Proposed), then create a new worksheet and chose functions to report the coordinates. Double click in the Resource Manager and choose Worksheet. Right-click on Row 2 and change it to Database. It will then ask you for the selection criteria. Choose Type = Stake (and maybe also Layer = ... just in case you have stakes on other layers that you want to rule out). Along the top of the first three columns, click the arrow, and choose Functions in the first drop-down menu. Select XCoordinate for the first column, YCoordinate for the second, and ZCoordinate for the last. This will give you the X,Y,Z information you need! You can then export this as a csv file which your team will be able to load into their kit. Hi Dennis No, that's the way it works... create a new file from your existing template, add the desired changes, and then File > Save as Template, overwriting the original.

Looking at our records, I can see that the extension request was approved by the team and the licence is active. The process is not automated, as the team needs to check the application. But this has been approved this morning.

The effect of Massing is to hide everything but the rearmost polygon within the 2D graphics of the plant symbol. If you want to retain the different elements of the symbol, the symbols provided with the software are already set up to do this with classes. To try this, place a few plants, using any of the standard symbols that come with Vectorworks Landmark. Now, instead of using the Mass Plants option, review the classes available in the document. Each element of the plant symbol has been classed for you, so you can show and hide things. So, you can remove the color fill, or the canopy, or the outline (but leave the sketchy or tight outline). Very flexible.

Well, you're in luck. A long wait at the airport has put Adrian Slatter's brain to the test and he has come up with the Round function in a worksheet to produce the results you want. Please see the attached file which contains a worksheet based on the standard Landscape Area with Plants example. This now includes a new function to the right of the quantity, which looks at the quantity, and then makes it odd. Thank you @Adrian Slatter Landscape Area Rounded.vwx

No, there isn't a way to do this in the Landscape Area tool directly. My initial thought was that you would be able to do this using a worksheet function on the schedule produced by the Landscape Area... but I can't figure it out. I even got my top spreadsheet brain, UK Director of Sales @Adrian Slatter onto it, but after a while of muddling it over, he's declared he will have to think about it... If we find a way, we'll post back to you.
