never works for me even if an object is selected

I've never been able to make vectorworks 'centre on objects after view change' even though I've selected the choice in the preferences, what am I doing wrong?

basically everything I try too enter in the dialogue boxes I get a error messages I've attached screen captures of the set up for the stairs using the old tool

I'm trying to draw a stair which is existing, in an old building, the stair does not comply with modern standards. I can't get the new stair tool to draw it, is there a way to around this problem? or do I revert to the old stair tool?

SP3 has made a big difference to running 2011 on my laptop but my desk top computer which is meant to be faster, still struggles with refreshing the object info palette and zooming, see specs below anyone got any ideas!

can vectorworks files be read by archicad?

I run Vectorworks on two machines the first is a new one(see spec in signature) this is an 8 CPU machine the second is an HP Laptop its spec is Intel core 2 Duo p8600@ 2.4GHz, 2.4 GHz, 4.0GB Ram, 64 bit OS, windows vista & Geforce 9600 M GT graphics card. This laptop is about 18 months old yet it runs Vectorworks faster & smoother than the newer machine, all the info palettes refresh quickly, less crashes, less problems all round. I was lead to understand that the new machine would be better but its not, is this the software or the hardware? anyone got any answers?

I've just realised thet the options 'move' & 'distribute' in the move by points tool do the same thing is there meant to be a difference between?

I never use the new stair tool too complicated the old stair tool is much better, quicker to use & shows on two layers, why make things so complicated?

I use vectorworks architect 2011 on two different computers, and there is definately a problem with this version, I'm going back to using 2009, 2011 becomes unusable the larger the drawing file becomes

further to my previous email I managed to save the 2011 file as a 2009 file via 2010 & I have now managed to export all the layers to sketchup.... what the bloody hell is going on with 2011 it's falling apart!!!

I'm trying to export a drawing into sketchup, there are four layers in the drawing but Vectorworks will only export one of them, it doesn't matter which layer I've selected Vectorworks always reverts to the same layer & then exports that.....bloody confused of Taunton

yep totally agree, 2010 & 2011 have caused more problems, I'm actually starting to regret going over to Vectorworks, file sizes & speed issues have become a real problem.

Does Vectorworks make use of all the processors, it doesn't seem, the CPU usage history only shows one of eight processors doing anything when I'm running Vectorworks yet when using other packages all eight seem to be working????????????? see attached

yep I find things snap to points that aren't displayed, not at all happy with version 2011, too many crashes, odd behavior, ghost images tools sometime working and then not, I wish nemetschek would concentrate on getting things working properly instead of coming up with new tools & gimmiks...................rant, rant, rant.

had this happen once had to copy everything into a new file

decreasing the contour interval made no difference any other sugestions

when using the terrain-create site model tool the contours created dont always follow the spot heights (see attached) is there a way to correct this?
