  1. This quote from Jeffery is of some relevance here I believe however on the other hand it may not be, you can decide. http://techboard.nemetschek.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showthreaded&Number=116826 My reply to that is...maybe 100 beta testers is not enough to cover the broad spectrum of the VW's application, maybe 200 is not enough. Consider Microsofts approach with Windows 7 beta testing. Have it available to the whole world to test for a limited time and get the people advise of bugs and consistencies before the version release. Although this approach would be all consuming with the volumes of submissions, my suggestion would be only release a time limited beta release to those with a license already who want to be a part of the testing. Worth considering I say NNA. However what do I know.
  2. We can all complain until we're blue in the face....a snipit from the Vectorworks License Agreement... 6. Warranties and Disclaimer of Warranty 6.1 No Warranty To the maximum extent permitted by law, the software is provided "as is" without any warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including, without limitation, the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement (and NNA disclaims all such warranties). 3. Thank you Christiann. This is all I was trying to express.
  4. I have removed my comments/ramble. I am an avid VW user who wishes to continue with VW with fewer issues and I am merely commenting on issues and progress. Obviously criticism does not go down well. end.
  5. I'd like to see text attributes controlled by classes. Use this option in the same manner as classes now when controlling other attributes...i.e. when editing a class why not have another section to make the text a default size color and style etc. 'Use at Creation' would be good too.
  6. In my case I like keeping up to date every year. However, with the next upgrade I am going to wait 4-6 months, as SP's should have been released to iron out any bugs. Additional comment... Maybe NNA will get the message when all their uses wait 6-12 months to purchase the next version/upgrade. We all know that NNA rely on us to help develop their software.
  7. I wish, I wish upon a star...that worksheet criteria editing was made more simple within WS's... Databases within worksheets. Right click the ID column of a WS and select 'Edit Criteria'... A list of criteria is displayed (in my case 4+ rows)... I am wanting to remove the top row of the criteria list as it is an incorrect class, but to do so I am having to alter each row from the top down to remove it and then hit 'Fewer choices' to remove the bottom row. Why not have a radio button beside each row to select for deletion with a 'Delete Selected' button.
  8. I had actually done what you have suggested...there is pitfall to it...Move and Move 3d are 2 different tools. 2d objects are not recognized using the move 3d tool. Having one tool to move either a 2d or 3d object would be better.
  9. Wouldn't it be great if the 'M' (move tool) determined whether the object selected had the 'Z' value available, instead of using the 'Alt' key...very minor request, but it does reduce the amount of key combo's one has to remember.
  10. I don't seem to get a correct display adjusting the 'Length Range' & 'Height Range' within the Advanced Properties in the VP. I have the DTM as a '3d mesh solid' and renders solid. The Building Model is a Referenced VP and renders solid. Scenario 1 The VP is incorrectly displaying when... Selecting the 'LR' 'Infinite' radio button the DTM model changes to a wireframe while the building model is static in hidden line. This is while the 'HR' is set to 'Infinite'... Scenario 2 The VP is correctly displaying when... Selecting the 'LR' 'Limited to Section Line Length' radio button the DTM model changes to Hidden Line render (which is what I want). This is while the 'HR' is set to 'Infinite'... Scenario 3 Selecting the 'HR' 'Finite' radio button and enter my end and start heights the DTM model changes to Hidden Line render (which is what I want). This is while the 'LR' is set to 'Infinite'. The thing is I can only get the hidden line render of the DTM when using either scenario 2 & 3. Shouldn't the hidden line rendering be constant? On the same Sheet Layer other VP's are working fine. Why should this one not be working like the others. I have checked all the settings and all settings are identical. Am I doing something wrong or is it VW09? Can anyone help?
  11. Should I submit a bug report? I just cannot get it to work. Even tried from a new blank file with no success as well.
  12. I cannot seem to make 'grey' the background beyond the section plane using the advanced button on the section viewport OIP. Section VP selected... On the OIP the 'Display Backgrnd' radio switch is selected... >Advanced Properties...>Attribute tab... >Objects Beyond Section Plane >Line Style >Use Class 'Style-Background' The class 'Style-Background'... 0.08 Line Thickness, No fill, and a light grey color, Use on creation not selected. (I have tried with 'UOC' selected with no difference). I have tried all sorts of combinations with no difference to the BG lines within the 'SVP'. I have actually had this working in VW08, but cannot seem to make work in VW09? Can anyone help?
  13. The manuals just don't explain simplicity. Cheers for that.
  14. How do you roundup decimal places within a worksheet? Using 'round' works down...and Using 'int' removes decimal places. I want to be able to roundup from 0.01 to 1.0 or 2.2 to 3 etc etc. Can someone help?
  15. I do believe that there is a 3rd party update available for XP to do this. Unsure where I have seen it, otherwise search the knowledge base at Microsofts site. You find your answer there.
  16. Well I have taken the plunge...I have purposefully reloaded Vista from scratch. 1. Loaded and updated Vista to SP3 along with all other software updates. 2. Loaded all my software that I use for day to day operations including VW09 with updates. 3. Then loaded AV software. 4. Started VW09... I take back all that I have said. Don't get me wrong there's still some issues but VW09 is sprinting not running. Next upgrade I'll be doing this procedure again I reckon.
  17. O/A VW09 is a vast improvement to VW08 with some great features, stability, and speed. But just little things that dont seem to work that should get me so frustrated.
  18. so I would gather. I know a few local people from here who have relocated to Perth. I will keep plodding along, still am interested to migrate at some stage.
  19. I may be a a ridiculous analogy but software does run the machine too. Just very frustrated.
  20. Snap Loupe Tool does not display when used over the following onscreen drawings: gradients, bmp's, jpegs, pdf's and other imported images. Nemet you need to fix this, as this is a feature that I upgraded for. As a comparison I just bought a new washing machine the other day and I unpacked it out of it's box, hooked up the water pipes, plugged it in the power socket, put some soap in and pushed the wash button, it then weighed the clothing, puts the right amount of water in, washes, then rinses, and spins and then beeps to tell me it had finished without any issues. The point is, all its features worked. If only Nemet would do the same with their product straight out of the box, as I seem to recall issues with VW2008, v12 and I think v11. Maybe industry beta testing would be worth a shot before releasing a version. It has cost me several hours which I am unable to recoup, and can't really send the product back to get it working now can I. Come on!
  21. I'm thinking of moving there..is there much work?
  22. Most of the time (VW12/2008) I tended to use the 'join tool' when trying to trim arcs with tangent lines. VW09 should now inform you whether the line is tangent when placing a line tangent to an arc. It should display a red dot on the final placement click if tangent. Check your constraints/smart cursor settings. Another method is to use the Constraint Tangent tool and then the joint tool. That's the beauty about VW's...there's so many other methods to do one job.
  23. There's pros and cons to each...i.e. not using VP's slows you up a little (unsure whether a measurable amount) and when using VP's and a file becomes corrupt you cannot import annotations when recovering them with WG referencing. Use what is comfortable. I personally use VP's.
  24. From my experience when installing VW09 (after about 6 installs later) is...load it on when logged in using the true Administrator account. Also do not have any Anti virus software running as well as unplugging the machine from the internet, turn off all security features within windows. Once installed run the check updates on VW09 to see whether there are any updates. Log off and reboot to your usual account. This was the only way I could load VW09 into one folder. I found that I had some VW09 system folders and preference folders installing into a virtual folder that I could not locate on my local drive. However once I did all of the above, it seems to be running fine now.
  25. Cannot post file to large even zipped. But can email.
