  1. If "getting it right before release" was so important, why is this forum clogged with compaints about 9.0?
  2. I wholeheartedly agree. I have exported to C4D, but it results is an endless number of objects in the new file. An export feature similar to Artlantis would be a great addition. Unfortunately it is easier to get an Autocad file into C4D by exporting it in 3D Studio format than it is to export a VW file. I hope NNA sees the irony here.
  3. Art*lantis has just posted a plugin for VW 9. Look under Updates & Patches.
  4. I just upgraded to Art*lantis 4 and am waiting for VW 9. The rep at Abvent said that a VW 9 updater will be available at their website in about a week. It may be that the update may be required for VW 9 to recognize the plugin.
  5. Check out 3D Manager on the Third Party Add-on page. I've tried MCnurbs and agree with the previous comments. 3d Manager is basically an extrude along path operation. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of how the profile & path interact. You can get a trial version at the website.
  6. I've been doing something like this with an imported 3D mesh of mechanical design. The polygon face must viewed staight on for the tape measure tool to give the correct dimension. I use the working plane tool to set a new working plane then use the view button to orient it to a "plan" view. Then measure from point to point on the mesh. It's tedious because the working plane must be changed as you go around the object. If there's a better way, I'd love to know. [This message has been edited by George Hannigan (edited 01-19-2001).]
  7. Export DXF/DWG will work with some programs, but VW objects will lose their "intelligent" properties. Which programs are you exporting to?
  8. There is a section in the VW Arch Manualthat deals with this situation. Pages 4-31 thru 4-34 deal with "Special Wall Joins". The methods described do result in the desired display, however the third wall is not actually joined to the other two. There is no need for "patches" in the examples shown. The ability to truly join more than two walls would be preferrable.

This area of weakness has cursed Minicad and Vectorworks for the longest time. Y and complex T intersections are still very very disappointing. I've been using MC/VW for many years now, and I've brought this up at every discussion forum available. Is it such a huge undertaking? Please don't tell me it's not considered a weakness. [This message has been edited by Archken (edited 10-15-2000).] This problem esisted in Architectural Desktop (Autodesk). They have addressed the issue by giving the user control over the cleanup parameters for individual walls. When these multiple walls meet within a critical radius in VW Arch the program doesn't seem to be able to resolve the interaction. We need a similar feature to deal with these situations.
