  1. It would be helpful if this command had the same options as the line into segments tool - place loci, delete original, etc.
  2. unfortunately, my observation makes me guilty by association
  3. ray, you have certainly dated yourself with this reference!
  4. I was afraid you would say something like that. I was looking for the lazy, versus quality, solution! As the project progresses I may arrive at a point like that - for now the mask transparency works well for getting the general idea across. thanks for the input
  5. I am trying to create a convincing stained glass texture. I have an image file I am using (a color drawing of the design). Using the mask transparency I can get the light to pass through portions of the design but I was hoping to get the light to take on the color of the glass after passing through. Is this possible? thanks
  6. yes, I have been a beneficiary of his work here in detroit
  7. I have seen this question come up a few times here. This is a good description of the process using photoshop: http://www.cadtutor.net/dd/photo/seamless/seamless.html
  8. It is under Preference (under the Vectorworks roll down). Click on the "Display" tab and then on the far right of that view you can change when lights are displayed. By your description though, I am not sure this is your problem. This effects all lights equally so would not explain why some do not show and others do. Are you rendering in a viewport on a sheetlayer? Make sure the lights that are missing were put on the correct class and that it is on. One other problem I have encountered are lights that have gone missing on a viewport. I erased the viewport and captured the same view again with the renderworks camera and the lights reappeared.
  9. Jonel, From my experience there appear to be several issues with the round wall in relationship to door and window symbols. I have sent these to bugsubmit. In 3d, I find that the window's (created with the pio) jambs stick way out of the wall. I worked around this by creating my own window symbols. The other issue is that symbols in round walls do not have any snap points when viewed in a view other than top/plan.
  10. Good point Mike. I hadn't really given it much thought but I will begin to do the same.
  11. You can play around with the drape surface command to see if that gives you the result you want. I ended up using the insulation tool in plan, converted it to a polyline and then extruded it the height I needed. Of course, this just gives you the "open" drape look. I would also suggest just making your venetian blinds. It should actually be easier than the drapes. Draw a rectangle, extrude it the thickness of one piece and duplicate it vertically. hope this helps
  12. Tech support can/may help you restore the file. (They saved me recently). You can get their email from the "How to submit a bug" section of the forum.
  13. I was attempting a subtract from solid command and got that old pop up asking me to revise the geometry in order to successfully complete the command. Without modifying anything, I kept repeating the command getting several different (wrong) results until it settled on the one I was looking for. Interesting observation for all who have gotten similar "failure to execute" pop ups.
  14. Is there a way to eliminate the thin slice of wall that remains at the sill of doors in 3d views? I know one work around is to raise the floor to obscure this thin slice but in my present application this does not work. See attached image of wall atop columns. This was created using the door pio on a wall set at 8'. Problem is that bit of wall that remains in the rendering. I can build this in other ways to work around the problem, but the flexibility of using walls and the door pio to tweak the proportions is hard to beat.
  15. thanks. so the ungroup sort of works like an undo but at any time you need it (after a save for instance). Sure would be nice if it was just added to the history instead.
  16. It seems strange that using the 3d fillet tool erases the history of the object in question. It is as if the object is converted to a generic solid. Can this be changed?
  17. Is anyone else having this problem with the resource browser? It was brought up last week by another post. Mainly an annoyance. It was not happening prior to 12.5.2
  18. this is a little thing, but would be nice. When changing an objects class in the oip, it would be nice if when the roll down opens it did so directly to the current class of the object - and that the class would be highlighted or have the little check mark beside it. I find I am frequently changing the class to one that is adjacent to or near the current one on the list.
  19. It would be great if one could use the duplicate array command with symbols in round walls. Currently the symbols are duplicated buy not inserted. The "duplicate window in wall" tool does not function on round walls. (If it does, I cannot get it to work)
  20. I have had my lights go missing at times and have found that the setting under Preferences has mysteriously changed itself. Check and make sure that the lights have not been changed to "never display".
  21. they should be in the libraries folder of your vectorworks file. Either "objects imperial" or "objects metric" You put them in through the resource browser under "files and folders"
