  1. Yes, thanks so much. I was hoping to be able to import a 3D object so I would not have to create one though. Do you know of any sites like that? I know sketchup has one does VW?
  2. The pen color was not visable. The site I was using was http://www.steelselect.com/steeltalk/july_2006.htm
  3. I was trying to import some 3d symbols from the site you had recommended. A new layer was created with the import. But the symbol is not visable. I have made all layers and classes visable.
  4. I had posted the thread titled "symbols". I was replying to the symbols thread. However, I accidently posted my problem to this thread....
  5. Katie Sorry, I posted to the wrong thread. I was repling to "symbols" thread. The blonde roots are gettin to me.
  6. I cant import dwg files.
  7. I am looking for some gable vents.

Does anyone know some good sites where I could pick up some PIO's, 2D's, 3D's, ect?
  9. I find text scaling in the annotations layer vs. design layer a bit confusing as well. On some text items you really dont have a choice if you want info linked to schedules you have to put them on the design layer (i.e.-spaces, door, window, ect) Which then you have to scale the text on your design layer (ex.: scale-4pt) to match your annotation text (ex: scale-10pt). On the RCP discussion, I agree with Katie.
  10. Thanks for the advice everyone. Andrew your method works great. Heather
  11. It seems no matter what I do I cannot get the hatch to show in plan view. After I do a solid subtraction the hatch dissappears. Unless I double-click on the solid subtraction to enter the solid subtract group the hatch reappears. I think this is one of those unsolved mysteries.
  12. The 2nd option works pretty good. How can I get the wall hatch to show up in plan view? Great tutorials!!
  13. Petri If you are not going to help me with this problem then please desist with your condescending replies.
  14. I am trying to draw an exterior wall consisting of prestressed concrete double tee wall panels. The double tees are 3" thick with reinforcing "legs" at 48" centers .....ascii thus.... __!____!__ The "legs" are 10" deep and taper from 4" to 6" where they join the wall panel. I know that I could approximate the look I want by constructing short 10" wall segments at 48" o/c joined to a 3" wall...but that doesn't get me the taper I need. I also need the wall to still function as a wall object as I need to insert doors and windows into it as well. Clearer?
  15. Well I would like the "look" of the two (wall and symble) to be joined as one. Without the ojects lines in between the two. However, things are not looking so good.
  16. I have created 3-d symbols and I want to add them to my walls. I joined them together by using the add solids tool. Which in return it joined but my hatching dissappeared in plan viiew. However, if i double click it, my hatch comes back. Whats up with that?
  17. Can one add a 3-d solid to a wall without the wall hatch dissapearing?
  18. Yup, I think your right. That's gonna be the best way. Thanks
  19. What is the easiest way to construct a 3-d twin tee wall?
  20. well, I've tried every which way to render. Ya my walls are filled. I coppied the objects that I wanted to be in hidden line form and put them on the annotations layer. It works but the action seems kinda crude to me. I am however still up for suggestions.
  21. I have tried the 1st idea. However, when I render it the interior lines on the exterior walls show. Is there a way to prevent that. Thanks for the reply.
  22. For example, in an elevation view of a wall in a viewport, I have cabinets and doors behind this wall. I want to be able to see just the door but not the cabinets with dashed lines (hidden). Does this help? Heather
  23. Is it possible to have certain specific objects (ie-windows) have hidden attributes in an orthagonal viewport? If so, how? Sorry, kinda new at 3-D stuff when it comes to VW. Thanks Heather
  24. I am inserting doors into walls. I am trying to remove the header (lines) in the plan view. How do I go about doing this?
