  1. I have a large rendering (107MB). It wont render in radiosity of any kind because it crashes. When I go to render in final renderworks mode now, it completes 30% of the rendering fine then the left half of the screen goes blank. The right half continues to render. I let it run last night just to see if it would come back. I completed the right half and gave me a crash message. I realize it is a large file but it is not anywhere near as complicated as it should be. I have removed just about all the lights & substituted a single light object in their place. What is the best way to get this to complete the whole rendering. I think its a memory issue. The CPU is fairly new Intel Core 2 Duo 3 Ghz with 4 Gig ram running XP Pro. Graphics card is Nvidia Quadro FX3500. While this is no longer the best available I think its still pretty good. Is there 3rd party software that I should be running to get this size rendering cone well. Any help would be much appreciated.
  2. Thanks for the response. The render geometry was already clicked off, so I don't think thats the issue. I am unable however to turn off the fill on the actual light object. There is an extrude as part of the symbol that is the actual tube - is this what I need to turn off? I guessing not. I will run full radiosity once everything else is pretty much right to try and adjust lighting levels, but that takes all night on my system. Any other thoughts or did I miss something. Thanks again for the help.
  3. Hi I'm really green at this so please bear with me. We laid off our rendering people, so now I am trying to pick up the peices. I have a model built of a somewhat complicated interior. It renders fine in final RW when I have the lighting class turned off. I used the accurate lamps as my tubes on fluorescent fixtures. When they are turned on the I have 2 problems. 1. Dark outlines of light tubes are visible even though other objects. I've built accruare can lights & parabolic fixtures. The can lights are creating a problem but the tube fluorescents are. I tried the lights as part of the above lighting symbols. Then I pulled them out of the symbol & made them part of a group with the symbol. Neither one has helped fix the problem. 2. I either get tons of hot spots on the walls and tons of glare at "correct" lighting levels or I have to set each light down to 10% - 20% of its out put, in which case it is a dim interior. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
  4. I'm sure that I'm way over my head here but as the most experienced CAD person in our firm I've been asked to modify the default elevation symbol. So far so good, but they would like radial buttons or check boxes to activate four arrows so one marker can be placed in a room and any combination of the four markers can highlight elevations that we draw. I don't think the full active section tool is a must but I've no idea where to start. Is this function within VectorWorks or is this a C++ kinda thing? If it is C++ is it something I could pick up from scratch or is it complicated?
