  1. I came to VW from ADT and at first found VW anything but intuitive. Maddeningly so. But if you stick at it and accept that it doesn't work in the same way as what you've been used to then it will become easier. OK, so the help files and manuals are pretty awful, and ADT (and even AutoCAD, gasp!) does some things much better and quicker than VW, but I've found that there's usually a way of getting the result you need. This forum is a gold mine of useful information for beginners. It sounds as if Mr Moriarty has made up his mind without giving VW a fair chance, or making the effort to learn how to use it. Shame.

Edit: I suppose Mr Moriarty could always use IntelliCAD - I belive there is still a free version available.

  2. I think those hurdles apply whichever software you use, and emphasise the importance of training.

As an aside, I used Revit for a year or so and found it to be more intuitive than VW.

  3. Afternoon all. I'm currently learning VW and have hit a wall on a couple of things. This may or may not be simple, but I thought I'd ask anyway: How do you go about creating custom endcaps for walls? For example, returning a blockwork inner leaf toward the brick outer leaf at door and window openings. And just to push my luck, what about piers in walls? The pilaster is not really suitable. Any advice would be gratefully received.

    cheers
