  1. Gday Gday to all in VW land, I am designer in the East Bay Area of California, and I was wondering if there were any VW design classes/seminars/ training sessions that anyone was aware of in the East Bay. I am looking to improve my skills in VW, but I would like to find some hands on help with the program. If anyone has any info...or knows anyone that can help me out, I would love to hear from you. 2. I Just want to say thanks to both DDDesign and CipesDesign for getting back to me and guiding me to the light...your advice has brought tears fo joy to my VW experience... Thanks again guys
  3. Hi All, I was wondering if anyone had pointers or suggestions on how to create perspective views in VW12.5. My attempts at creating successful perspectives views of signage that I have modelled are quite random. When go to to "set perspetive" I type in a value and it blows my sign model out of view and is very exaggerated. I have tried values that are below "0" and above "0" and there are times when the resultant perspective view comes out ideal, but for the most part..the results are extremely exaggerated. Is there something that I am doing wrong? is there a process that I am not fully understanding? Is there a step that I am missing? can someone give a dog a bone.... If anyone has any suggestions, or knows how to resolve this perspective problem that I have, that we be great to hear from you. Thanks fellow VW users Aussie Aussie
  4. Hi Robert, Thank you very much for your suggestion. Closing the extrusion worked out perfectly. I tried to subtract the two solids that I had created using your method, but I still encounter the same problem where one of the solids just disappear. Like there was no subtraction. I am really not sure what is going on, do you have any suggestions for me in this regard? Once again Robert, thank you for your help with my first problem.
  5. Hi All I've been having problems when trying to create solids from extruded polylines. It seems as the the resulting extrusions are not closed, ie. the end faces are missing (not closed) Am I doing something wrong or missing a step in the process? Also, in trying to create solids from these polylines, I also run into problems where I cannot subtract one solids from another. Even though the two solids are intersecting properly, its like the solid to be subtracted just disappears. Each solid involved in the subtraction process, is made from extruded polylines. And are created by Intersecting the extruded front and side view polylines of the required solid. (This is the process that I have been using to create solids, to get around the unclosed solids problem stated earlier)Does anyone have a way to fix this or a better way to do this process? I work for a Environmental Graphics firm creating interior and exterior signage. Our company is fairly new to VW, and the way we have been using VW to create our signs is to import our AI files in the DWG format into VW, and using the extrusion of polylines to create our solids. If anyone can help with the two issues mentioned above, we would greatly appreciate it. Thanks -AussieAussie
  6. Ray Libby...You are a genious...thank you so much it worked... Could you explain why I must do this..and why this works? Thanks a bunch..I really appreciate it.. -AussieChris
  7. Hi fellow VW posters, What I am trying to do: Import outlined Illustrator text letters into VW.12 and extrude the letters to be part of a sign. What I am doing and what my prob is: I outline the text in AI, and then export the text as a DWG file. When I import the DWG file into VW.12, and attempt to extrude the letters there is an error message saying "there were objects selected that were locked or are illegal in extrudes and sweeps". Its really weird, I have found that the letters that are polylines are extrudeable, but some of the letters comes in as 2D symbols. These 2D symbols are not extrudeable. It confuses me because it is random in which letters comes in as polylines and which ones come in as 2D symbols. Is there something that I am doing wrong with the exporting in AI? Is there something in VW.12 that I can convert these 2D symbols into polylines? Or is there a better way to do what I am doing?? If someone has any suggestions, or know of a better way, it would be great to hear from you. Thanks fellow VW users - A very frustrated AussieChris
