  1. Is it possible to compile door schedules from several files into one file to create one overall door schedule? We've tried workgroup referencing, but only the header information is referenced. Others in the office mentioned using the import option within the resource browser, but that option is greyed out in our instance.

  2. I am working on a particular project in which there is a wing of a building that is 105 degrees from the other wing. When I activate a tag on this wing, it is not aligned with the door. Instead, the tag aligns with the orthoganal grid. Is this typical? Is there a way to align it with the door?

  3. I am having an issue with VW crasing when I try to export an elevation sheet layer to dwg format. The elevation viewports are hidden line renderings that are generated from a 3d model of the building.

I have purged and tried all of the different export options.

I was able to convert the viewport to lines as a workaround.

Has anyone else run into this issue?

  4. are you trying to edit a symbol to change in the ref'd file? symbols from referenced files cannot be editted in the target file. that may, or may not, be a good thing. if you need to see where your ref'd symbols are from, short of searching through all your files, you can give them a name that gives you a hint. you can, however, duplicate a ref'd symbol in the target file, and give it a new name. then you can edit away...

I agree that editing referenced symbols could potentially be dangerous, but as long as the process made it apparent that the change would have a "global" impact I think it would be okay. I ended up duplicating the symbol to get the result I wanted. Next time I will be more dilligent with symbol management.

  5. I was unclear in my post. I have a symbol that is referenced in a plan that I am working in. I would like to edit that symbol. Without opening all of my plan files that might have the referenced symbol, is there a way of determining where the orginal (and editable) symbol is?

Obviously we need more thorough cad management, but until then?

  6. I did some experimentation to get referenced sybols to update, and it does work or at least it did for me. I used the Resource Browser to perform the referencing.

Two things seemed to impacted the operation though. First, the file in which the referenced symbol is located has to be in the same folder as the file doing the referencing. Second, updating only happened when the file with the reference is closed and opened. I was not able to figure out a way to update symbols like you can wrokgroup rreferences.

  7. I typically set the search to older than one year and turn off the "newer" category. I usually try both "subject only" and "subject and body" depending on the results I get. My seach results typically semingly have no bearing on the search criteria. My search for "x grid" or "x-grid" seemed to bring up any entry with words containing an "x".

The fact that each post of a thread is listed as a result separately is annoying too.
