If memory serves me right, I believe the workspace file is cross-platform. don't know about the second part of your question.

Is there a way to get the gray visibility in layers to be darker? This function would work great for framing backgrounds, but it doesn't come out dark enough. We end up copying the layer and making the pieces our own shade of gray.
