ps im on SP2 not SP1 if this makes a difference!

I have a some 2d lines which are of varying clasees and i have grouped them all together. I want to be able to put this group on a separate class so i can turn it on and off easily, however when i go to change its class, it turns all the lines the same colour etc. Im sure there used to be an option that popped up asking whether you want to assign all the classes within the group to the same class? any ideas?

I was wondering if there is a way to crop an imported image? VW goes on about doing all the tasks for a presentation in one package (so no need for photoshop etc) but i cant seem to find a way to crop/edit an image. Any ideas?

Thanks for that info MBMD, shame they havent bothered to sort it for SP2. I have found that if you close VW down and re-open it then it goes away, but it is very time consuming and yet another example of a way VW is failing miserably in... time effectiveness! any news VW people on when it will be sorted?

Hi Ive been having some problems since the big switch over to VW2010 and have reported some on here, however they dont seem to be resolved. Main things are all/a lot of walls moving when you move one, and straight lines dont look straight. Haven't upgraded to SP2 yet, and wondered if anyone else has experienced these problems, and if so, are they resolved in SP2? I know there was a thread about the walls moving. Many thanks

Panic over.... have just watched the videos of 2009 and found out how to do it... god knows why you are expected to sit and watch videos on how to snap to a line. silly waste of time really. am really not impressed with this VW2010. (

Nering Thanks for that, sounds like it could be a solution... would that be under Document Preferences > Resolution > Output WMF export? If so then yes mine is set to 72 dpi as is the Printing one. shall i change both to 300dpi? thanks for your help.

It seems to be that i can no longer snap to edge of a wall/line and i have to zoom right in and after a few attempts i can snap to a line. This is crazy, it used to be one of the best things about VW compared to autocad but im afraid it is now the worst thing and is soooooo time consuming! I have no idea what has happened and im so frustrated that my work is taking so long to do! please can someone advise? thanks (

Have just noticed that VW2010 seems to have messed up all the window glassd opacity settings. Our triangular windows in the gables are no longer opaque. after many wasted hours of trying to sort it out, i ahve noticed it may be something to do with the fact they are set to "fixed glass" as when i change the normal shaped windows to fixed glass they go abit weird but not sure.... any answers NNA before i waste more valuable hours trying to sort this out? am a bit fed up of VW2010 now... just seems to cause trouble and waste more time when i thought the whole idea was to make it more productive? dont think so!!!

Hi I noticed in VW2009 that when you first view the sheet layer and select a viewport, the scale of that viewport is often shown incorrect ie it is at 1:100 but says it is 1:50 etc. This is now also happening in VW2010 also. Has anyone else noticed it? It often corrects itself after some clicking about.

Hi peeps no i didnt ever resolve it... i just gave up and used sketchup instead!!!! thanks though, i may try it again next time i need it.

For those others that asked me to post a file, i have managed to capture the crookedness and done a print screen. see attached image.... red circles are where the crooked lines are.

Hi I have been using VW2009 for a few weeks now and in the last week i have noticed that in design layers and the view ports sometimes the lines dont look straight. They are definitly straight/horizontal but they sometimes look as though they are perhaps 1 degree out. this is really confusing me, and they often change when i zoom in/out. it actually makes me a bit dizzy trying to focus on them! anyone else noticed this? i didnt notice it until this week, so im not convinced its purely to do with 2009. Any ideas?

Does anyone know how to change the scale of the text within a section VP? in all other VPs, in the object info > Advanced properties > Text Scale > and you can change it but the section VP doesnt let you do this....any ideas? or ways round it? cant be bothered to keep going into the VP and changing all the text sizes... far too time consuming.... Hi I have some classes turned off but sometimes when i switch between layers or layers and VP they re-appear even though they still say they are turned off. you have to turn them on and off again to get rid of them. This is only happeneing in a particular file and I noticed this a good while back, but thought it was a one off bug as it was only in one file, but now my collegue has the same thing happening in a different file and it has happened to me in yet another file. Is this some sort of bug? its really annoying! many thanks

Right, i did what you suggested peter and the first time i did the solar animation, it worked fine, however when i tried to do it a 2nd time, it just created the text document. Ian is right in saying that it suggests it will be a text doc, but the first time it did create a QT movie. hmmmm.... i have attached a copy of my test file, so let me know your thoughts. must admit, the urgency of sorting this out has reduced as i have just done it in Sketchup but Im keen to pursue it as VW are always harping on about doing EVERYTHING in the one package... !!!

Peter, i have re-tried it and thought it was working however it seems to save it as a text file??? and there doesnt seem to be an option to save as Quick time file/movie file. any clues?

Thanks peter for your response... you make it sound so easy!!! i'll give it ago and let you know how it goes! In the time waiting for responses i have of course just exported it to SketchUp and done it that way! but i WILL give it a go in VW as i want to be able to do it in the future. Its like gmm18 says, sketch up is soooooo easy and quick! thanks very much, much appreciated )
