  1. There is a legacy tool I use for this called Number Stamp or Data Stamp. You have to install it in your workspace. I know it's there in 2008, I'll have to check on 2010. The stamp tool let's you set a starting number and stamp away on each table with an auto-increment. I'll then do a quick align on the numbers on the X and Y axes and call it a day. Hope this helps. -bk
  2. So what is the workflow to get from VW to Kerkythea? I am exporting to 3ds with several different scales and can't ever get a model to show up in KT. I have just had a rather large project dropped on me (a studio/ballroom/exhibit hall flythrough) and Renderworks is dying with a bare exhibit hall. I can't do 2 hour renders with just the architectural geometry. btw, I am on Spotlight/RW 08. Have access to machines built to Nemetschek specs. any thoughts/advice? tnx, bk
  3. tried all that good stuff. Only thing I can figure is some sort of corruption in the vwx itself. All my other projects are looking ok. thanks for the input. -bk
  4. I am missing something very simple here and I can't remember what it is... VW2008 Spotlight + RW Adobe PDF writer I have the sheet layer scale set to 300dpi. The viewport is cropped with an ellipse. I have tried printing both postscript and non-postscript with the same results. Any thoughts... Thanks! Bob
  5. I am looking for a good source for ballroom carpet textures. It needs to be something that has large color sections to it. Most ballrooms look like the building vomited color onto the floor. It usually looks like oversize Asian rug patterns that reflect the ceiling geometry. Any help is appreciated. -bk
  6. Please forward the info about the default 8 fields to the Tech Support Desk. They are unaware of it and this bit of knowledge could have saved me a half-hour of irritation from being treated like I am a complete fool. I accept your information as a solution and am satisfied with that the label legend manager is working correctly. Now, why does the custom title block keep forgetting it's record associations? It's almost as if the association information gets saved in a spotty fashion. Some fields stick and some do not. If I go back to the Custom Title Block and re-link the text, it sticks sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. This is more of an annoyance than anything else. thanks for the quick info, bk
  7. My question is this: Why do we see the records losing their associations to the text fields? And, what are the blank text fields showing up in the label legend manager layout dialog?
  8. I am having a reproducible intermittent problem with the label legend manager and custom title blocks. When I attach a record to a text field, the attachment does not stick. It will either go away, or attach to a different field in the record. The most easily reproducible is to create a new label legend and select the first three fields and "focus." One of two things happens at this point: a)'focus' goes away and is replaced by '_NNA_DO_NOT_CHANGE_' or b) four additional fields show up in the label layout screen with no observable text. If I select one of the empty fields and go to Tools->Records->Link Text to Record, it tells me that the field is attached to a Wall record. I have tried every workspace, template and blank document combination I can think of with no change. This is most annoying since VW tech support tells me this is not possible yet I, as well as a colleague just down the hall, can make it happen at will. This happens on two separate installs of Spotlight on two separate machines. The only thing these platforms have in common is the install DVD and C. Andrew Dunning's Screen Tool. Is anyone else seeing something like this? -bk
  9. I second this. It would be ***EXTREMELY*** nice to have an auto update field.
  10. I don't know how the printer setup/drivers/formatting/etc would work, but we used to use some epson cash register printers for POS work that use regular paper tapes. The ones we used were OLD and had RS232 connections, but I am sure the newer ones would work off USB. If the interfacing stuff is taken care of, couldn't one set up a 3"x50' page size and print as a normal page? probably way off base here, but just a thought. bk
  11. can someone please explain how to keep the text formatted in a lighting position info box? I am using SL 11.5.1 on OSX.4.6. When I change scales for the layer, the text winds up freaked out. Then, so do I. tnx, bk
