  1. I am looking at using the Railing/Fence tool for a 'U' shape stair handrail as it models the wall brackets for me. However I can not seem to do it as one continuous piece. Using the polyline mode i can draw all 3 sides, but no option to alter the heights, the 3D line mode is OK but i have to then draw 3 separate ones, which are not joined at the corners and the wall brackets stop at the rail line and don't continue on the flat sections. Should there not be a 3D polygon mode so we can draw these? I guess alternatives would be to; Use the stair tool handrail and model in the brackets individually Use EAP, but again I would then have to model the brackets and set them at the correct heights. Maybe chain extrude but then there is no control over the post locations. Ideally the fascia post option from the railing tool could get included with the stair tool handrail options? I use the custom stair but did try it out on the stair tool but same results. I do prefer the simplicity of the custom stair but I think it is now in the legacy folder for the plugins, so I'm guess no feature updates or bug fixes incoming.
  2. I gave up on the SM, and even the FM notations as it was limited in what i could do. I ended up having separate text boxes so that I could control the class and rotation of the note. I did notice that you could change the object rotation and the structural rotation to put the text at a 45° angle - but when exporting to IFC the structural rotation isnt taken into acount all my columns where off by 45°, another limitation on the IFC was the bevels and mitres don't come through...
  3. Yeah here is where it lacks in the control of the view. Try going into the advance settings and change the height range, The layer that the section line is drawn on may also have some impact as to the height. And the centre of the section line becomes the vocal point I think.
  4. I have heard back from Ozcad, there was a bug preventing this from working when one object was selected, and it now doesn't work with multiple objects as it became too difficult for it to figure out what the first object was. The workflow now if you want to copy is to select one, copy to defaults, select the others, copy from defaults. Megabits (Bill & Jeremy) should now have a copy of Windoor v22.0.4
  5. Try playing around with Projection setting on a section viewport (located in the OIP just under the rendering settings) - i find a distance of 4-8 works ok. It does lack a bit of control but you can play with the height settings and change the centre of the selection line to move your viewpoint. May tie you over until the clip cube develops to a have a viewport mode.
  6. Still persistent with SP2 for me, have emailed Julian and linked in this thread.
  7. Just downloading the update now, I'll test at my end as well and follow up the email with Julian.
  8. Sent Julian from Ozcad this a few weeks ago, sounds like it is going to be fixed in SP2.
  9. Trying to get a label on the structural member (SM) just like the Framing member (FM), ideally for it to pull the profile size direct from the object but I can't seem to find out how to? FM just selected Label text and I would then write in the size. With the SM there is a member ID, but then not sure how this gets displayed? I tried the ID label tool but it doesn't seem to pull any info from the SM?
  10. Managed to figure out the problem I was having when I ran into another issue with drag/drop not working. Came across this thread regarding drag/drop and as it turns out VW was still set to run as Admin from when we where trying to solve the library catalouge issues, have now taken that off and the custom mouse key and drag drop are now working again, productive morning for getting rid of kinks.
  11. How does everyone deal with structure spanning two or more levels and then getting it to look right in elevations/sections. By look right I mean no line at the join between the two. I have tested framing member, structural member, columns to but they all leave a line at the junction in hidden line render mode. If everything was just a square column I could do it with walls and they are at least "smart" but the project I am working on has a combination of steel and concrete structure, some even spanning 3 layers. Ideally there was a column object than you can define its overall height, and what layers it is visible on, but any thoughts on how it could be approached now? In some case (the attached image) I could hide the junction line with the ceiling, but not all and it makes it a bit complicated with items over spanning the bounds of the layer they are on. And yes the locations of the items are perfectly on top of one another. I did think that maybe you could have a layer just for the structure but that only works in an ideal word where it is all the same height, I have some structure just on level 1, some spanning level 1 to 3, some 1 to 2 etc, so it would require say 3 extra layers which would not be ideal. thanks.
  12. I have a Mouse (Microsoft Sculpt Ergo) with a side button that I have programmed for the return key, so when done editing a text object or want to click OK on a prompt i just use the mouse button. VW17 however doesn't seem to recognise this at all, this worked fine in 2016. The setup was system wide, but since it didn't work with VW17 I put in an app specific setting but still doesn't work. Any thoughts on what could be blocking it from working?
  13. Yeah that's what I end up doing, have foreground render as hidden line in sketch and then opengl or RW in the background. This however isn't able to mimic 90% of the styles that the artistic RW offers, which offer a distictive differnt style, but only usable if all your walls/floors etc are one layer.
  14. Having the same issue aswell, my local distributer gave me this link of others and some question from Jim which they sent off. Hopefully will be fixed soon.
  15. And 2017 still has the same problem...
  16. Happens even if I create a new style and then try do it, also tried a blank file and same end result.
  17. Having issues getting these two to work together. I have a wall style, and under the data tab I have given the style a mark, which i want to show up on the label ID. I then click the label id tool, click in empty space and then second click on the wall. the only option i have to select is the ID style and options, but nothing to try link the ID to the Mark info of the wall style. Is there a step that i am missing, or another tool that i should be using? THe end result I am afters is for a key to be linked to the wall style.
  18. Are you refer to the 'ht2boundary tool'? I'm pretty sure this is now installed as part of VW ANZ, it is made by@Jonathan Pickup, he may be able to send you a copy if you don't have it? My copy is located under users/app data/roaming/nemetscheck/vectorworks/2016/plug-ins/archoncad plug-ins/ht2boundary.vso It could be that it just isn't added to your work space?
  19. I have a Surface Pro 4 I5 4gb, work 1-2 days on it during a week of work, obviously not as fast and responsive as my PC but definitely workable. If I got the 8gb or the i7 version I'm sure it would be better.
  20. You can mount OneDrive as a network drive, so rather than using the app to do the syncing i think it gets done automatically, would this potentially get around some of the issues? I have been looking into getting a VPS as a file share and then using VPN to access but that's a bit above my skill level at the moment... Mounting a cloud storage as a network drive though, easy
  21. There is a plugin on http://www.vectordepot.com/older_plug-ins.html by John Greaney which has a standard truss and a gable end truss which I use as a model for the majority of a truss roof, however the options are limited and you can't do a half truss so I don't end up modelling the hips of the roof - enough to make sure heights are correct and create a shape for a section.
  22. If you don't recommend we use project sharing, do you have any suggestion on how two people in different offices can work on the same project?
  23. So apparently this function is coming with 2017, but that's in a month or two and I need to set up a file (next week) for sharing with another Architect in another office.
  24. If I need to move the symbol I use the reshape tool to do so.
  25. Think i may of found your issue. You need to add :rNote into the mix somewhere and it should correct the problem. My suggestion would be to duplicate :rDate, change it to :rNote, make it white text and super small, send to back and give a fill to :rDate. Since your revisions are going up i would set the alignment to bottom, select all 3 and then align them all to the bottom so that the spacing works. As a house keeping issue with the title block i'd also make all non title block data in a single group as I think that is how it likes it. Have attached the one I was playing with so you can see.
