  1. Maybe someone else knows of a command to ‘fix’ this, but I do not know of one. I do know that removing Wall Breaks will not do what you are hoping it will do, as you have already discovered. I just think this is how it is. @JuanP — any suggestions?
  2. What scale are you viewing this at? I don’t think that something as hair-line thin as this would show up on a printed PDF for a typically scaled floor plan. This may just be an artifact of the PDF creation of the solid fill on your walls and there may not be much you can do about it. If you really want to get rid of this — my suggestion would be to switch to a non-solid wall fill, like a diagonal hatch.
  3. Bruce, no need to send me a file — I’ll take your word for it. I don’t work at Vw, if that’s what you’re thinking. Sending me your file will not help get it fixed. 😉
  4. 1) It seems like you are trying to add an image to an extruded 3D object using the Attributes palette and adding a Fill to the 3D Object, correct? The Image Fill attributes controlled by the Attributes palette only work on 2D objects, not 3D objects. 2) Same goes for when you tried to apply an image to the Fill of your Class. If you were working with 2D Objects, this could work, but not 3D. To add an image to a 3D object you need to create a Renderworks Texture. Vw2024 Help File — Creating Textures I would also recommend looking at the Vw University training portal for the basics on how Vw works, as it often works differently from the way that other 3D applications might work. Here is a link to a 4min course titled ‘Apply Object Texture’: https://university.vectorworks.net/course/view.php?id=1440
  5. There have been some other threads about slow startups with Vw2024, supposedly the first time opening after installation is the slowest, but it should speed up after that.
  6. @Bruce Kieffer If you are a Service Select member, you can send an email to premiumtech@vectorworks.net and you will get a confirmation automatically with a case number.
  7. At the bottom of every page in the Vw 2024 Help file (and all earlier editions) is a link which says ‘Was this page helpful?’ When you click on that link, you are taken to the general VW Customer Support Page on the user portal, leaving you without a clue about where you are to let someone know if the help page was helpful or not. For example, after reading a thread on the user forum I wanted to see if the Help File page on Creating Site Models from Source Data said that you should always be in Top / Plan view when you run this command — because if you are in a 3D view your Site Model will be created way off center. The help page says nothing about this, so I wanted to let someone at Vw know that this page was ‘not helpful’. REQUEST: The expected behavior for wanting to provide feedback on a specific page in the help file would be: after clicking that ‘Was this page helpful?’ link to be provided with a form that has the page URL and page title already filled out so you can easily provide feedback on that specific page. The way it is right now is anything but helpful.
  8. If you activate the Data Bar after you start drawing the Wall by pressing the Tab key, then you can further tab over to the Length field and input the length there, or by inputting the Delta X / Y of the Wall from the starting point. Note that depending on how your wall is set up, the length you enter might be measured from a different point than you are expecting. Ex: the wall might be measured along the center line of the wall, when you really want it measured along the inside face. Always confirm your drawn wall lengths by measuring them with the Dimension tool. Vw2024 Help File — Using the Data Bar Vw2024 Help File — Drawing with the Data Bar
  9. You could also create a flattened vertical section viewport on a Design Layer, drawing your 2D linework on top of the flattened section. Link to Vw2024 Help File page on Creating a Vertical Section Viewport Personally, I typically put my 2D linework in a the annotations of a SL Section Viewport.
  10. What are the hardware specs on your Mac? I have read other user reports on the forum about recent releases of Vw (particularly 2024) not releasing RAM properly (on both Intel and M-series), so if your Mac was underpowered (not enough RAM) I would think it could lead to this behavior. 11. I have not opened your file, but the issue is that you are using Walls with components which are bounded to a Story that does not exist in that level. Deleting Stories is the opposite of what you need to do to fix this. To fix it you have to do what Tom W said..
  12. As a user holding off on yet to use Vw2024 for billable work — partially due to the number of new bugs introduced in Vw2024, not to mention the number of still unresolved old bugs — it is hard to stomach this annual percent increase of ~50%. Where is the added $$$ going? If you spend any amount of time on the user forums and read users’ posts about their experience with Vw2024, it doesn’t feel like it’s going towards quality control.
  13. FYI - You can remove a ‘thumbs-down’ reaction on someone’s post that you later regret by clicking on the little black circle with an ‘X’ next to your reaction’. It will remove the reaction.
  14. No, they seem to place correctly for me. Tried on a Design Layer, Sheet Layer and inside a SLVP Annotations. Tried both 2D & 3D.
  15. Bumping this topic, it would really be great to have Bookmarks for topics on the forum. The link that Christiaan posted is now dead — but I found a new link for it, or at least another possible third-party plug-in. https://www.ic-essentials.com/files/file/31-bookmarks/
  16. Coffee Break - Vectorworks 2024 New Automated Fence Tool https://university.vectorworks.net/course/view.php?id=2926 I have found that if you just try and jump into any tool in VW thinking that you can just figure it out, you will have nothing but frustration. I would recommend the first step in trying to learn any new tool in Vw is to first search on the Vw University portal for any training material. It will be time well spent.
  17. I don't have any insight into those two plugins @JuanP - any thoughts? You probably will need to contact Tech Support, but first you could try repairing the installation using the Vectorworks 2024 Updater application. Click 'Advanced Options' at the upper right corner and then 'Repair'.
  18. The class Site-DTM-Modifier, which is automatically created the first time you create a Site Modifier, is a special class in that any NURBS or 3D poly that you put in this Class can be used as a Site Modifier..
  19. You could also try using CloudCompare to subsample your original point cloud to have a max of 100 million points.
  20. Yes, when you reset your Vw preferences it will request re-activation. There is a long-standing wishlist request (from 2014) for an online portal / means to deactivate a license, and not have to wait for Vw Tech support to manually reset it. Feel free to follow the link below and go upvote the request. One would expect that the Vw Customer Portal would show the current number of license / seat activations, but it does not appear to.
  21. Maxon is the company that makes CineRender and Redshift, which are the two primary rendering engines in Vw. Your screenshot doesn’t show the names of the offending plug-ins. If you grab / drag the divider to the right of the Path so that the plug-in names are shown, what does it say?
  22. @ShannonCreativeGlobal To see if the issue is the DWG file itself, you could first try to open the file in Autodesk’s free online file Viewer to see how it looks there. If the file looks correct there, then you can say that it is Vw’s Import where it is failing. Autodesk Viewer
  23. Is your round table a Symbol? And what do you mean -- 'the replace function is not doing it'? If they are symbols, and the new tables share the same insertion point as the ones you are replacing, you should be able to replace the symbol with another symbol. 1) Select all of the symbols you want to replace, either one by one or using the Select Similar tool (choosing the 'Symbol Name' option from the Settings) 2) If you've selected all of the tables correctly on the OIP (Object Info Palette) it should say 'X' 2D/3D Symbols (however many they are). 3) With all of the table symbols still selected, on the OIP click Replace... and then select the new table symbol. Post back if that doesn't work for you. It should.
  24. TomW is correct. The hatches I use on on my exterior elevations already have 0.03 thick line weights. Doing what he said is a good place to start.
  25. 1) Select the SLVP and override the visible Classes so that they are very thin. If your Hatches are all in one / the same Class, you can start there. See link to help file page below for additional info. Note that you can override multiple classes at once. 2) In the VP annotations you may also want to manually draw a thicker ‘profile’ polyline around the elements you want to ‘pop’ visually. Note that if you change the 3D model, this polyline won’t track the changes, you’ll have to manually re-edit it each time you significantly revise your design model. 3) Use the Artistic RW in the background as you have it, but add Hidden Line to the foreground. In Vw2024, it is probably also possible to set up a Viewport Style to simplify this so that multiple VPs all look the same, but I haven’t done this yet.
