  1. If orphans are being created the UID\Enternal ID are not matching for some reason. If you are using the automated actions or a standard mapping file try doing it manually, especially if you are using ones from 12.5. Also after you click the autolink button make sure the fields actually match. Make sure that when you export from LW you fill the fields with a "-" and that when you import into LW you tell LW to convert "-" to blank.
  2. Lights created by the lighting device are automatically named with the channel number followed by the purpose. For regular VW lights, the name of the light is applied in the Data tab of the OIP.
  3. Petri, You can use: Function IsUserColor(ColorIDX:Integer;Var ColorName:Dynarray of Char):BOOLEAN The function will return true if the color visable to the user in the document's color pallette.
  4. The Photometer and Photometric grid in Spotlight use a simple cosine distribution falloff based on the peak candella of the lighting device with a given distance, beam and field angle. These calculations do not take into account any geometry that may be blocking the light, reflections, or ambient light. If this is going to give you an accurate enough calculation, you simply need to fill out the candlepower, beam angle and field angle fields in the light info record and attach the record to your symbol. Then follow the procedures outlined in the manual for placing and focusing lighting devices.
  5. The 8 digits on the dongle are only part of the serial number. The entire serial number is 24 digits. If you can not find the original paperwork that contains the serial number, contact tech support and they will be able to look it up.
  6. Yesterday, the 18th, was the first day we had the E-Series available for Windows, so I wanted to make sure you downloaded the updater yesterday if you have an E-Series. Your best bet is to email the log file directly to tech@nemetschek.net.
  7. Pat, Noticed your signature, do you have the Professional or the Educational version? Kevin
  8. bclydeb, I usually make a separate table and a separate chair symbol, then place them inside of another symbol to get the standard table and chair configuration. This allows me to place random chairs and tables and still have an accurate count in the worksheet. It also lets me use the custom tables and chairs I need for rendering.
  9. Just use GetObject('Record Name') if it returns NIL then the record does not exist. You should also check the type to make sure it is a record.
  10. You probably have another object in the document named scale bar, so that is the first thing I would check.
  11. The problem looks like it happens when you have a mix of new legends and old legends in the same document. For now, if you want to use the old legends, open the old (v12) file and run the Label Legend Manager in 2008, this will update the label legends. Save the file and you can now import them into new documents and everything should work fine. See if this fits with what you are seeing. I haven't seen any problems with just converted files or new files.

    Gobos

Make sure you don't have anything blocking the light. In Fast Renderworks you should see the light, but not the Gobo. Are you using NNA's symbols or your own symbols. The NNA symbols have a "Default Instrument texture" applied to them so the light will show through the geometry. If you opened the 12.5 filr in 2008 make sure the light is turned on.
  13. The only case I have seen of this problem, all of the internal label label legend information has gone missing and we are trying to find out what causes the problem. Removing all the label legends and either recreating them or bringing them back in from another file solves the problem but we have not figured out what causes this problem. If you see a pattern let us know.
  14. We have had reports of slow OIP in general and are looking into the problem. With the label legends, did you import an old label legend into your document? Try removing all the label legends from the document and running the label legend manager again. Please send the file to tech support and give us as much history on the file as possible, and include the file where the label legends were originaly created if they were imported from another file.
  15. It's just the import mapping file on the Mac that does not work in 12.5.2. (You will see the message that the file is not valid.) As far as I know the rest of the command functions as it did in 12.0 and 12.5.x.
  16. One of the changes made for 12.5 was dongle driver support for Vista. So if you have a dongle you need 12.5 in order to run on Vista.

    Gobos

The documentation is in error. We will update the documentation. The settings should be changed to: Ray Traced Shadows Selected Transparent Shadows Selected Shadow Mapped Shadows De-Selected Auto-Adjust Exposure De-selected By default final quality Renderworks will render the Gobos correctly.
  18. Try changing the GDI+ imaging setting in the VW Prefs and see if that helps.
  19. Right click on the light and select "Edit Light..." You will be able to turn the light on and off there and will have access to all the properties of the light. You can also use the Visualization pallet to control the light.
  20. The simplest way to make a raked stage is to draw the section in a side view and then extrude it. If you need to make a more complex rake then convert the extrude into 3D polies and reshape the 3D poly. Another trick you can use if it's simple rake is to use the Create Roof command.
  21. Spotlight 2008 contains several musical symbols, Pianos, Lectures, Music Stands, Podiums, Drum Kits etc.
  22. In 2008 you now have the ability to rotate the 3D portion of the lighting device using parameters in the OIP. The 2D view will remain unchanged when the 3D portion is rotated.
  23. Editable Worksheets are gone for 2008! We now have 2-way editable database worksheets. You can create your own by using the create report command or use the preconfigured ones available in the Library\Defaults\Reports~Schedules\Spotlight Schedules.vwx.
