PowerPC,
We isolated the problem to the student version and it will be fixed with the next update but we are not sure why you are having a problem with your professional version.
Please contact tech support.
They will want to check your serial number and probably check/delete some other files to make sure VW is using the professional serial number.

PowerPC,
There may be a problem with the plug-ins in the student version.
They work fine in the professional version and we are currently invistagating the problem.

Sort by the Name column rather than On column.
Just click the column header to changes the sort column and the sort order.

The redraw problems should be fixed in 2010.

This is a bug that has been fixed. I thknk it was fixed in 2009.

When ever you save back to a previous version you risk loosing data.
In this case you lost control points because the older version supports fewer text control point labels.
-
That's really strange. Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of VW.
Save the mapping file and use it.
I'd double check things till you are sure the mapping file works correctly.
-
Make sure your field mapping in both applications is correct.
It soundls like the Symbol Field is being matched with the Label Legend field.
What happens if you replace the instrument with a different instrument?

If you want the handles returned by criteria then look at ForEachObject();
It takes criteria as one parameter and a Function/Procedure.
The Function/Procedure used by FEO gets a single handle passed to the calling proc for each object matching the criteria. You can build you handle list inside of the proc.

Looks like it first went missing in version 10.
If it's still in the current documentation I'll submit a bug about it.

I've never seen the containers obscure the text labels and I'm curious what you are doing to cause this. It would be great if you could post the file or send it to tech support.

Check the Knowledgebase.

Windows 7 is not supported or even realy tested.
You can send the file to tech support and they can take a look at the file. The only other thing to try is to back-up your user folder (XP it's C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Nemetschek\VectorWorks\2009)
Then delete the original and give it a try again.
If it works let me know and we will want to take a look at the old files and the new files.
We have had reports of this fixing the problem on the Mac and for others the problem has just gone away.

This is a bug. I can't remember exactly what the temp fix is, but I think if you nudge the light or run refresh instruments it will fix it.

What version of LW and VW are you using?

The file you sent just looks like it's using class attributes but it is not. The geometry inside of the symbol is colored blue and the lighting device just happens to have class attributes set to blue. If you change the class attributes the symbol does not change color.
The lighting devices in the drawing that are rectangles using the class color are just rectangles because there in no symbol in the document for that lighting device.
The only way to do this is create separate symbols in different colors or use use layer color and place the symbols on different layers.
It;s on the wish list but for not the attributes of a symbol instance will always match the attributes of the symbol definition.
-
It should not work even if they are just symbols unless the geometry inside of the symbol is set to a class and uses class attributes.
Lighting devices should work exactly the same way.
Post a sample file and I'll take a look.

PDF created with the educational version are locked from editing to prevent the removal of the Educational Watermark.
You have the ability to view, print and join the pdf but not edit.

Just use a "-"
You would probably want to name your classes "Truss-Upstage" and "Truss-Downstage"
To get the downstage truss as a sub menu of Truss, you would have to name the calss "Truss-downstage truss"
The class name is exactly what you enter, the menu just displays it as a sub class.

Yes, this is fixed in SP4.

priman,
You have to load the files into your favorites in order to see them in the resource browser.
Click the little triangle at the top of the resource browser and select "Add New Favorites File..."
Browse to your Vectorworks Application folder then into \Libraries\Objects-Entertainment\ and you will see all the files for Spotlight.

It's a problem with SP3. If the instrument is 2D ONLY then it will not show till it is moved. Hybrid symbols do not have a problem, so all the symbols that ship with Spotlight work fine.
-
You can't set the Z height of your instrument because the symbol is probably 2D only. You need to have a 3D component in order to set the Z height.
The Lighting position only shows the text in 2D because the 2D text automatically supresses the 3D. Here again you need a 2D and a 3D object if you want to deal with position heights.

Color charts can only be created from the colors in the active document.
You would need to start with a blank document and import all the Pantone Colors into the document then create a color chart.
Circuiting Tool Help

Matt,
To place the home run back to the panel just click in empty space where you want the end of the marker to be placed.
If you want to show mutiple circuits to the same device just use the tool again. It will add a circuit.
You could use the tool to circuit a rack but I've never seen a drawing notated like this. Most of the drawings I've seen include a riser diagram and a schedule.
You wouls not be able to automatically do load calculations since the buss bars in a dimming rack don't line up the same way they would in a panel.
