  1. It looks like you have a customized OIP and added a "Mode short" field and made other customization so I can't see the actual "GDTF Fixture Mode" field to see if there is a mode assigned.
Try reverting to the default Spotlight OIP to make sure the settings and set the Fixture mode and GDTF Fixture to None again.
Both the Fixture mode and GDTF Fixture must be set to None in order for the DMX footprint to be editable.

  2. You need to get the GDTF type ID and then the GDTF Fixture Mode as a number.
0 or 1 will give you the first mode. The mode numbers are based on the order of the modes in the GDTF file.
Vectorworks will only use this mode when downloading the fixture form the GDTF share via the Update GDTF Files menu, or placing a lighting device after a GDTF file has been associated with the symbol definition via he Update GDTF Files menu.

  3. Check out this video on Vectorworks University.
POWER SUPPLY, DISTRIBUTOR & CONSUMER OBJECTS

Also note in the future you will not see any True 1 or Neutrik named connectors in Vectorworks. They will be replaced by generic connector names.
powerCON®TRUE1, powerCON®, etherCON® are copyrighted names by Neutrik and can only be used conjunction with devices that use the authentic Neutrik connector.
In order to comply Vectorworks will switch to use a generic name to represent these connectors since we can not determine which devices do or do not use the authentic Neutrik connector.

  4. Yes. The include file is inserted in the exact location where you place the include call.
If the $include is placed in another procedure or function it will be restricted to use in that procedure/function just as if you were to place the code there.

  5. Functions work just fine in include files. In the compiler basically does a copy/paste of the include file into the file.
Make sure there is an empty line at the end of the include file, sometimes VW needs to have the blank like at the end of the file.

  6. @Nate D 3rd party plugins are stored in your user folder not in the main Vectorworks application folder.
I'm familiar with the message and I have only seen it when I have the Production Assist plug-in installed.

Take a look at this article on the ways to locate your user folder. (It's about how to reset settings but it also has information on how to access the user folder.)

Unfortunately this is the way Production Assist has chosen to implement their feature. There is no way to disable this from within Vectorworks other than to remove the plug-in.

If you are stuck give tech support a call and they quickly walk you thru removing the plug-in.

  7. It sounds like you installed production assist at some point.
You have to uninstall production assist to keep these dialogs form opening each time you launch Vectorworks.
The production assist plug-in should be installed in your user plug-ins folder, you will need to delete the plug-in to prevent production assist from automatically starting with Vectorworks.
On the Mac it's located in /Users/<USER_Name>/Library/Application Support/Vectorworks/2025/Plug-ins, it's a similar location on windows.

  8. Uninstall is now done via the Vectorworks Install Manager located in the Vectorworks Application folder.
Once launched, from the hamburger menu in the upper right hand corner you can choose uninstall, but you might try the repair option first.
