  1. I've seen OpenGL craches caused by problems with just a piece of geometry. Other then contacting and sending the file to technical support, your best solution is to try eliminating things from the drawing and see what prevents it from crashing when you render.

  2. Try changing your default font.

Deselect everything, change the font, then run the command.

There are some font families, mostly hand lettering style like city blueprint, the some have some verry odd fons structure and VW has a problem processing them.

  3. If you want to render mutiple layers you should create a Viewport.

Are you using the Gobo Projector or the Lighting device to project the gobo? The Gobo projector is obsolete and the functionality is not part of the lighting device.

Yes, you need to have ray traced shadows selected.

If you are using the lighting device make sure it is set to have a fill. If the lighting device is set to no fill then the Gobo will not project.

Make sure there is no geometry blocking the light. If you render in Final Quality Renderworks can you see the light?

You have to render in FQRW (or custom) to see the Gobo.

If you render in Fast Renderworks and see the light but don't see it in FQRW then there is probably something blocking the light.

Are you using a symbol supplied by VW?

  4. Kellie,

The reason you are having problems with the Marker() call is that is it obsolete as of 2008.

Marker() has been replaced by SetDefaultBeginningMarker and SetDefaultEndMarker. Several other Set/Get type marker calls have been added in order to support fifferent markers on each end of the line.

If you have a smaple file and a test script that will cause VW to crash please submit the file and the script to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net.

  5. The preview will always show the repeat.

The source image must be 2" usually 400x400 pixles.

Set the texture to not repeat.

The "Create Gobo Texture..." command should do all this for you.

  6. Kellie,

What object are you trying to delete and where are you trying to delete it from? The details are important here so we can identify the root of the problem.

One thing to try is to move the object to a layer using the setparent callthen delete it.

  7. It looks like you are creating the duplicate object and placing it inside of the "polyHand" container. You should be creating the duplicate inside the "pioHandle"

If "polyHand" is NIL it should place the duplicate in the PIO, but try using "pioHandle" to be sure.

Check the object type before you extrude and make sure the source object is what you expect and not NIL.

As a test just try duplicateing the object from the path without extruding it.

  8. It's a problem with that font family. I don't know why, but the problem is not limited to the label legend. The font will have problems if you just enter text in the document. I've had problems with the entire "Blueprint" family. If you look at the sample text for the font, it will be different then the standard sample text used by most other fonts. I don't know if the problem is isolated to one font creator or just a general problem with this font family.

Only thing to try is setting your default font to either CountryBlueprint or a standard font like Ariel. Do this on a copy of the document, I found that switching existing text between "Blueprint" and standard fonts will create garbage text. You can restore the text by switching back to the original font.

  9. Make sure the location you picked for the output file is writable. It looks like the error happens when quicktime can not open the file for writing. Also try the file name with and without the .mov file extension.

You should get a different message if it's a compatibility problem.

  10. It works great.

If you want to try a test you can download vision demo and give it a try. With the demo you have full control over the demo scene and the ability to control Universe 1, Channels 1-100 of any scene you create.

  11. "Using the Visualization palette"

You don't select instruments on the document, just the lights in the Visualization palette then right click and select edit.

  12. Using the Visualization palette, select mutiple lights then right click and select edit. You can adjust the properties, including lit fog, for the selected instruments from here.
