  1. At this point it would be best to send the file in and contact techsupport. tech@vectorwoeks.net The issues is usually simple once they see the file.
  2. Since it renders the light but no color there are a few more things to check. Make sure nothing is blocking the light. When you render in fast Renderworks or with certain options in Custom Renderworks certain objects will not cast a shadow. Often the piper or the floor will block the light. Is the instrument from the Spotlight Library or it is one you created? Make sure your lighting device has a solid fill and pen. (This problem has been fixed in 2009.)
  3. Try final quality renderworks. I know the settings in one of the manuals has an error. The settings should be raytraced NOT bitmaped.
  4. You just recalculate that one worksheet.
  5. I've seen OpenGL craches caused by problems with just a piece of geometry. Other then contacting and sending the file to technical support, your best solution is to try eliminating things from the drawing and see what prevents it from crashing when you render.
  6. O.K. I dusted off my copy of 12 and the Visualization is NOT part of V12. In 12 you have to use the Light On Check Box in the OIP.
  7. I don't think the Visualization is part of V12. Kevin
  8. It's a bug with Undo. Till it is fixes cause the light to regenerate by running refresh instruments or moving the light and it will restore the functionality of the lighting device.
  9. Try changing your default font. Deselect everything, change the font, then run the command. There are some font families, mostly hand lettering style like city blueprint, the some have some verry odd fons structure and VW has a problem processing them.
  10. Select the lights in the Viz pal and then right click and select edit.
  11. If you want to turn on and off multiple lights you need to use the Visualization palette.
  12. Once you put a lighting device in the document, the document now has lights so the automatic lighting feature of Vectorworks is turned off. If you should either add a area light or turn on the layer lighting.
  13. Make sure you are in Show/Snap/Modify other classes. All the geometry is probably in the "None" class and it fyou can't select the internal geometry there is nothing for VW to pick on.
  14. If you want to render mutiple layers you should create a Viewport. Are you using the Gobo Projector or the Lighting device to project the gobo? The Gobo projector is obsolete and the functionality is not part of the lighting device. Yes, you need to have ray traced shadows selected. If you are using the lighting device make sure it is set to have a fill. If the lighting device is set to no fill then the Gobo will not project. Make sure there is no geometry blocking the light. If you render in Final Quality Renderworks can you see the light? You have to render in FQRW (or custom) to see the Gobo. If you render in Fast Renderworks and see the light but don't see it in FQRW then there is probably something blocking the light. Are you using a symbol supplied by VW?
  15. I'm running Windows XP Pro SP3 on several machines with 2008 and have had no problems.
  16. Kellie, The reason you are having problems with the Marker() call is that is it obsolete as of 2008. Marker() has been replaced by SetDefaultBeginningMarker and SetDefaultEndMarker. Several other Set/Get type marker calls have been added in order to support fifferent markers on each end of the line. If you have a smaple file and a test script that will cause VW to crash please submit the file and the script to bugsubmit@nemetschek.net.
  17. Editing of record info on symbols has not changed. Just remember to DESELECT all when you are editing the symbol before changing the record info.
  18. The preview will always show the repeat. The source image must be 2" usually 400x400 pixles. Set the texture to not repeat. The "Create Gobo Texture..." command should do all this for you.
  19. Kellie, What object are you trying to delete and where are you trying to delete it from? The details are important here so we can identify the root of the problem. One thing to try is to move the object to a layer using the setparent callthen delete it. Kevin
  20. Make sure your class options are set to Show others and thet the "None" class is turned on. The symbol geometry is in the none calss and it must be visable.
  21. It looks like you are creating the duplicate object and placing it inside of the "polyHand" container. You should be creating the duplicate inside the "pioHandle" If "polyHand" is NIL it should place the duplicate in the PIO, but try using "pioHandle" to be sure. Check the object type before you extrude and make sure the source object is what you expect and not NIL. As a test just try duplicateing the object from the path without extruding it.
  22. If it is just one file, then just open the mcd file from 2008 it will automatically convert.
  23. It's a problem with that font family. I don't know why, but the problem is not limited to the label legend. The font will have problems if you just enter text in the document. I've had problems with the entire "Blueprint" family. If you look at the sample text for the font, it will be different then the standard sample text used by most other fonts. I don't know if the problem is isolated to one font creator or just a general problem with this font family. Only thing to try is setting your default font to either CountryBlueprint or a standard font like Ariel. Do this on a copy of the document, I found that switching existing text between "Blueprint" and standard fonts will create garbage text. You can restore the text by switching back to the original font.
  24. Make sure the location you picked for the output file is writable. It looks like the error happens when quicktime can not open the file for writing. Also try the file name with and without the .mov file extension. You should get a different message if it's a compatibility problem.
