  1. I need almost daily, a 2d double line round tool. It could be similar to the round wall tool but without all of the bim info. I have tried using the round wall tool but it doesn't do what I need. I need a tool that will produce a double line round polygon, similar to the double line polygon tool.

  3. My company has agreed to get me a new laptop so I can work with Vectorworks and graphics programs. I need a machine that will still preform for the next four to five years. The company only supports Dell computers. I would welcome suggestions about model number and configuations. I travel a few times a year for extended periods of time and use it to work from home when needed.

  5. I am exporting files into .dxf to be opened by a program called Vcarvepro so they can be used with a cutting machine that cuts plywood into shapes. The files are 1:1 and contain one or two polygons. When my client opens them they have rounded corners instead of square corners. Do you have any suggestions about why this is happening or how to fix it? I am using VectorWorks 12.5.2 Designer with windows xp.
  6. I would like to dimension isometrics is there a way to do that? Thanks
  7. I just upgraded to 12.5 from 11.5 and after a few minutes working in a file i lose my selection points the nice big blue ones. If I close the file and reopen they are back but dissapear in a little wile. I am also having refresh problems using the Ctr 2 zoom out key. I saw a note to double push z but it's a hassle especially when my designer is looking over my shoulder Help
  8. Hi We are trying to figure out how to get a flattened view of a section of a cone. I can draw it in 3d no problem but we need a view of the outside surface so we can get a banner printed to wrap around it. The outside radius is: 78.3464" The inside radius is:69.2913" The height is: 20.0787" I am running Vectorworks 11.5 Thanks
  9. Don't know. I will check that. I ended up deleting the doors because they didn't show up in my 3d views. Thanks for your help
  10. Does anyone know how to remove the 3d locus points on doors created with the door tool? I like to use a screen capture to go to a jpeg and I end up with these little marks all over my screen. I can't edit these as a normal symbol. Thanks
  11. Is there a keyboard shortcut to scroll through saved views sheets? The ones you access on the status bar the bottom of the screen. Thanks

  13. thanks i'll give it a try
  14. You may think of it as a flat vine very large at the large part of the cone and smaller at the small part of the cone. The cone is inverted and the skinny part cut off like an upside down teepee. The solid part could be on the outside that would look nice.

    cones

Hello I am having trouble figuring out how to make a certain form. I have created a glass cone section hollowing out the inside and cutting off the top so I have a solid subtraction. Now I want to create a swooping solid area similar to a spiral that is wider at the big end and skinny at the little end. I am stumped. Maybe I am overlooking a tool or a process. I could wrap the solid part over the glass part if I could figure out how to create it. Thanks
  16. Does anyone know of a keyboard shortcut to access the sheets menu and scroll though the sheets? Thanks
  17. I am finally trying to learn working with nurbs. I am having problems with a seat cushion I am trying to model. I was able to curve the top and the front but after I reassembled the parts (add solids) I tried to fillet the vertical edges. The middle section curved but the top and bottom remains square edged. How can I get a curve along the entire edge?
  18. I've had some limited success doing what you mentioned. How big is the flat monitor? I have built a closed box behind the monitor screen and put in one spot. When I needed to make a monitor wall (like a control room) I made a panel with holes for the transparencies and then created a box behind and put in a couple of spots, two or three seem to do the trick. It would be nice to have a tube light source so we could get a more even light in a small space.
  19. I have been using a depth of around 6". When we actually build lightboxes for duratrans that is the depth we use. The inside is white, it seems to give the best bounce, but that could be determined by the colors of the transparencies. With the point tool it doesn't seem to matter alot the exact placement. I usually zoom in and put it as far as it can go away from the transparency so it has the max spread. It just needs to be in the box. If your graphic becomes too transparent you will get cast shadows from the sides of the frame. This can give you unexpected light on the other side of the room, if that is a factor. You can right click on the light and see what edit options there are. Not too many with the point. If you use the spot tool their is a place your can measure from at the tip of the light. I think the point works better for lightboxes If your virtual monitor is a 21", one or two should be enough.

    aluminum

We use alot of aluminum also. I have a shader that I imported from 8.5 called silver. I seems to do the best. I'm not sure how to get it to you
  21. I have the same problem. Is there some way to get email notification when this has been fixed and we can download something?
  22. We have recently upgraded to 10.5 I noticed that when I go to the duplicate array window and start tabbing through the window that in linear array on the second tab instead of going to the number of duplicates field the cursor jumps to the circular array option and then tabs through the options there. This is especially annoying because when it goes to the circular array option the "rotate objects" box is automatically selected. To get back to the linear array I have to deselect this box and then click with the mouse on the "number of duplicates box". I am trying to limit my use of the mouse to increase the speed that I can work with the program. Please check this out and see if this is a problem with anyone else. Thanks
  23. We just upgraded to 10.5. We got the disk to install the upgrade. The name of the folder that has the new file templates was renamed standards, but the program did not reconize that name. When I dragged the v10 templates folder into the v10.5 folder it would bring up the create new document box. Before it would just create a blank document
  24. I just installed the 10.5 upgrade and it seems like all of my drawing/selection tools are very slow. Click a point for a line wait wait wait okay ready now. This was not the case in 10.01 I am in a file that was created in 10.01.
