  1. Not sure what you need, but if you are trying to bring in a schedule from outside, using word or similar, it works very well (in 12.5) to print to a PDF and File/Import PDF onto a sheet. Creat a viewport and put it on whatever drawing sheet layer you want. If you mean a VW worksheet to an autocad DWG export, dunno. Robert?
  2. More simply put, you need to go through the File/Document Settings/Model Setup and put in your vertical dimensions for the floors you will be using. These can be modified later but will give you the 3-d set up. There is more to do, with the Create standard viewports and setting up your drawing layers, as well as document preferences, but enough for one day. I would suggest doing some fundamentals training with a local VW user or VW (or Jonathans manuals) (see their training schedule)just to get you off the ground.
  3. Nice roof, Pete. How do you do the see-thru ? (I know it's in the manual somewhere....)
  4. Nice. Can you expand on the steps you used? Did you use the texture as Peter mentioned above? or build beams and boards using the AEC/Make Floor command? Or something else entirely? Thanks
  5. Not a bad idea. You could also do the limited plan differences that would happen on that alternate layer.
  6. Check all your appropriate layers and classes are on, that the symbols are being placed on the proper layers or classes, that the attributes didn't get set to None somehow. It is usually really simple. The converted unit problem may be a glitch. Katie?
  7. Is there a way to draw a bay window, not part of a wall bay, or do you know of any symbols out there? I was hoping the Marvin folks would do it, but I can't find them.
  8. Robert: I don't think so. When one is looking for a door type (other than a doing you own PIO) the list in Resource Pallete is just a list unless it is set to view as thumbnails. I don't think they realized you could change the view. Also, in the libraries file, it is only a list, no thumbnails, which is difficult if all you are looking for a is a single item. sfatelier- you ok with the PIO method of making doors?
  9. Put go-to window back in index. I don't always need search, just a quick go-to. And put the link to the VW site back on the help windows so if the help info is inadequate it is a quick jump to the web site and tech forum..
  10. And when you change sheets or go back to the plan layer you will be in the same place as you left it, not somewhere else based on the previous sheet position.
  11. Is there a reasonable way to do a pipe, such as waste vent or drain, that will show up in 3d? I don't need it for plumbing diagrams, just for the model to check clearances.
  12. Small item, but helpful: I wish the cabinet blocks would indicate which was the front when placing them or moving them, maybe a small arrow, double line, whatever. Placing them to a wall is so irritating I prefer to drop them into a space and move them into place. Thanks.
  13. Not really, except you can copy/paste into a text box, but will lose most formatting (tabs, etc). We had a string starting on 6/21 that ran through some options, including using url's, keynote formating and the like, but no direct importing of Word (or Excel) documnets, let alone linked (interactive). 12.5 has a PDF capability that seems promising, though I have not used it. Anyone tried yet?
  14. Oh, duh! Thanks. Forest for the trees,eh?
  15. What is a good way to do an arched opening? Thanks.
  16. 1. Nice work on many items in 12.5! 2. Put the link to netcheck.com (or to the tech forum) back on the help pages 3. put the ID note class change window on the Resource Browser, Everything else is. (which is good). It would allow for much quicker corrections to inadvertently mis-labeled items). Windows also.
  17. It would be nice if the callout tool and text tools were consistent in that. You can click and revise text directly.
  18. In the VW libraries list, you don't, but in Resource Browser, between the two top narrow windows and the large lower display window it says "Resources", with an arrow. Click it and set it to "View as" "Thumbnails". The items will come up as wireframe objects.
  19. Same t hing happened, bu I had VW open. Turned off VW, turned off virus protection, installed fine. XP
  20. Robert: in an 8-23 posting you replied:"If you want a 45-degree split landing type of winders, take a look at the Knowledge Base article on how to create these:Winder stair KB Tutorial". It worked as noted, except the railing were chaos. Any thoughts?
  21. Thanks, Pete. It is more that I wnat to do a series of options to test ideas, and not have to have a new file each time, or have to move one stair out of the way each time I want to try a new one. Also, I don;t see the object properties window you mentioned, at least in the PIO editor. In the Object Properties pallette, I have tried, and it just reverts to the default stair class.
  22. For spiral stairs, it would be nice to have an option to have a center post, attached rather than putting it in after the fact, and to know if the tread depth is center, or end (for code compliance. Maybe coordinate the 3d behavior with one of the manufacturer's. Thanks.
  23. Thanks. Unfortunaltely it doesn't work. It goes through the afforts, then reverts right back to Vert Trans-Main. Why not be able to create the alternate class first then simply create on that? Are there built in default behaviors to the default VW classes?
  24. I wanted to do several stair plan options, giving them each an alternate design class, but the stair PIO defaults to the Vert Trans-Main class. Is there a workaround?
