  1. I batch print to .pdf all the time, though I haven't tried printing just a viewport; I always sheets or views. I get individual files, sequentially numbered. I'm on a Mac. What i wish it would do is batch print to a single multi-page .pdf file.
  2. Didn't it used to? I've done this several times where it remembered my last choice. Of course, there ARE different replace symbol functions, and maybe I'm remembering what happened with autoplot's replace symbol command....
  3. i get it. you want to have instruments that come out the same drawn size no matter the scale you choose to print the rest of the theatre in...so as to make hang cards for the electricians or something that are clearly readable, even if the instrument itself is not to scale. i can't think of a way to do this that doesn't involve making duplicate instrument symbols first and then plopping down those new symbols right on top of the original plot on a differently scaled layer - turn layers on and off as you wish. It MAY be possible to do an entire library at once by going into its VW file and doing the "scale all" thing (you'd have to place an instance of each symbol first). Or just pick out the units you want to do that to and do them as a batch in a separate, new library file. Also, keep in mind that the scale function can have different effects depending on whether objects are grouped or ungrouped, and that can work to your advantage. this seems a little strange to me, but let me know if you get it to work.
  4. I'm also finding that if you accidentally have two different positions sharing the same position name, it'll number all units on both positions. I am beginning to see why some people might prefer Offset Duplications...
  5. I had the same problem with crashes, especially on a nudge move. I ran the first update and that problem has pretty much disappeared. No crashes in the last week. Annoyance I am having now is that when I import instrument data after changes in LW, changed units will now be on top of the accessories attached to them - which makes them hidden until I find them and bring to front again. Can I just group these things so they won't do that? If I group, will the unit still update with the imported data?
  6. Wow, who pissed in your people's Wheaties? It wasn't Nemestchek, OK? They advanced a product, plain and simple. You all remind me of how my grandpa sounded when automatics were introduced. If a stick was fine for him, it should be fine for everybody, now and forever! Take a few hours to learn one of the new layouts and the shortcut keys they assigned. I think you'll see the superior logic in the newer layouts. Then go create your own workspace, or a standard for your office, that includes the best of the old and the best of the new. Me, I like the new way layers, classes, sheets, viewports, and saved views are all accessible with one shortcut key. As for titleblock w/out border - 1) still use border tool, just shut off the border part after inserting the titleblock, or 2) do your titleblock the old fashioned way. I used to use a titleblock symbol w/ text records. The Drawing Border/Titleblock tool takes this only one step further and embeds the same exact thing into a plug-in, making the editing a lot easier. Instrument Key - once generated, just go into the group and delete the rectangles. Couldn't be much easier.
  7. I made my sidelights label legend in one shot; since the legends rotate with the units at or after placement, it was no big deal to make a sidelight legend by simply avoiding an imaginary VERTICAL line running through the sample instrument. Later it may be necessary on a few units to manually drag the information around to be more presentable. I find this feature to be VERY useful!
  8. Really, mickey? I had no problem making my 36 degree S4 a USITT-standard symbol and still having all the instances retain their proper info. Oh, that's right, I'm using 12.
  9. Accessories show up in the titleblock just fine if inserted with the Accessory Insertion tool and if one double-checks that they are in fact an Accessory or a Static Accessory. I've had no problems there.
  10. Title blocks are easy to put in, especially after you create/modify one you like. You do have to go through "Drawing Broder", but you can just turn the border part off if you like. What I don't understand is what record format the stock titleblocks are referencing and how they're doing it, because the record format doesn't show up as a copy in my current file, where I've inserted the titleblock. But if I make a custom titleblock and associated custom record format, even when saved in the "Drawing Border - Title Blocks" folder, the custom record format always shows up. (And is there a way to get the scale field to automatically reference the design sheets actual scale?) Instrument key is a command: Tools > Reports > Key to Instrumentation. It isn't bad for getting a basic layout plopped down on the plot, but I'm finding it needs lots of tweaking. So far, I haven't been able to modify how it counts or plops down striplights in the key.
