  1. I had the same thing happen to me today, but a Vectorworks error screen kept popping up, but it was transparent and I couldn't see an error message. It popped up probably 20 times in a row, then it briefly showed the error message...something to the effect of 'the requested resource is not available'. When VW crashes a warning chime goes off when you click as if there is a popup box open that is not letting you do anything before you click it off, but I don't see anything unless it is the Plant Preferences box that has just stopped responding.
  2. For me, I will open the plant tool, then click to open the plant preferences pop-up....that is where you see the plant symbol with its currents settings. I am able to add a few new plants by duplicating an existing plant on that screen, but after a few new plants VW freezes with the plant preferences box open......it does it at that point every time.
  3. I am having the same issue? Maybe it has something to do with the amount of RAM? It is quite annoying.
  4. Well, the most major problem is that VW stops responding after about 5 minutes of work and all non-saved data is lost. The system was running on 4 gb of ram so I am currently experimenting 2 gb to see if that is the problem. Any thoughts would be welcomed on that. Also, when I am using the plant tool and click on the settings to see the Place Plant Preferences pop-up and try to click on the drop down of available plants it will not stay open. It hides itself immediately after clicking on it. I do find that if I hold the left-click on the picture of the plant symbol for about 3 secs it stays open or if I click on the drop down arrow and hold the left-click while navigating off of the pop-up then it will stay open. On our other computer you just click it once and it stays open so there is definitely something wrong. Also, why was the slider bar removed for the plant selection drop down? I have a very long list of plants that I have created and I have to go all the way down to the little arrow at the bottom of the selection box and scroll one at a time through the available plants rather than dragging a slider much faster. I thought there used to be one in 12.5. Thanks for any help you might be able to give.
  5. I can confirm I am running the HP DesignJet 500 with the Windows XP 64-bit driver. It seems to be working fine at this point.
  6. Thanks, i used the SUM icon method and it worked. I definitely have problems with the functionality of these plant lists. You would think there could be a default plant list worksheet that had the criteria of 'Layer=CurrentLayer' so that when you dropped it into any layer it would update to that layer and it would create a new instance of it so that I wouldn't have to create all new ones. Has anyone figured out a way to actually display the plant symbol in the worksheet like most architectural plans?
  7. Well I've created plant lists for each of my layers in my template...unfortunately these will not update automatically when I start a new drawing. I have to recalculate the worksheet to get the correct plant count. The real problem is that it is listing all the plants or group of plants as a separate entry. For instance, I put 3 individual Boxwood plants, then a group of 3 Boxwood....I then get 4 entries in the worksheet. 3 Boxwood show up with 1 quantity and an entry with 3 quantity show up instead of combining all the like plants with a quantity of 6 giving me only one entry in the worksheet. Is there a way to sort these entries or combine plants that are the same?
  8. The video driver was updated 2 days ago before VW2008 install. This was for a design layer that I was setting. I believe I found the problem. I had a network printer installed that did not have the correct driver installed so I decided to uninstall the printer, once I did this the button functionality enabled without me even having to restart VW2008.
  9. I am not sure if anyone has had this problem, but when attempting to change the print size in document settings or page setup by selecting a new printer using the 'Printer Setup' button....nothing happens. Similarly, when I just choose Print from the File menu I get no response. I have verified that these options work correctly on the same PC with VW 12.52. Also, I started receiving an error about the Microsoft C++ Visual Runtime Library upon VW 2008 startup and the program just shuts down. All of this may be specific to Vista 64-bit, but I am not sure.
  10. I've looked around at all the posts on printing errors associated with VW 2008 and haven't yet seen this problem or any suggestions on how to fix. I am using an HP Photosmart C6150 to print my smaller 8.5x11 designs. I have no problems printing from any other program or from VW 12.52. The specific error I am receiving after sending the design to the printer is "Error- Clear Paper Jam, Press OK when jam is cleared"....this displays on the printer and on my PC. The funny thing is that I can just press OK without opening and clearing anything and the paper will come out. Something else interesting is that on every attempted print from VW 2008 an indention in the paper always results in the same spot, but it is only when I print from VW 2008, all the other programs do not have this outcome. I can actually hear something different when VW 2008 is trying to print that does not occur any other time. It is very strange. Anyways, here is what I have tried so far... 448kb file (one small tree symbol)-both rasterized and unrasterized, spooling enabled Blank document- both rasterized and unrasterized, spooling enabled The unrasterized settings do work correctly on my HP Designjet 500 plotter, but the rasterized setting does not print anything. My smaller printer is a network printer on a wireless print server. I appreciate any help and advice on this matter.
