  1. After I make a revision cloud, I should have the ability to scale it larger or smaller by dragging corner handles.
  2. Seems like roof components would be a nice addition to slab and wall components. Doing typical wall sections would go up another notch or two!
  3. I would like to see the ability to make a window combo: double hung...fixed glass....double hung (like you can do under custom) only WITH the ability to have custom muntins. Also for doors: I would like to be able to put 2 transoms over a set of french doors (one transom over each door).
  4. Having difficulties rendering viewports on a 10,000 sq.ft. house. Have several extrude along path items, created concrete baluster symbol, and outrigger symbol that is bogging down the system. I was told that there are limitations to a 32bit program. Don't know what that means exactly, but it needs rectified. Can't IMAGINE using this software on a skyscraper like I see in some of the adverts!! Were those done in Windows version? If so...that's sad!
  5. Just thought there could be a trick or shortcut that I wasn't aware of.
  6. I usually intersect the two planes (pitches) and look at it in a side view, then plot (with guide lines) the location of the intersection. Then transfer that to plan view, and draw (with a guide line) the resulting hip (or valley). I then edit the two planes shaping the edges to fit. I then take my diagonal guideline (representing the hip/valley) and move it around to all the corners where the same roof pitches meet.
  7. Is there an easy way to figure out the precise angle (in plan view) of two roof faces that come together at a hip, when the pitch of one of the roof faces differs from the adjacent one? There is probably a mathematical equation I should know?. But is there also VectorWorks trick or shortcut that does it for you? Thank you. Mark
  8. A home builder (using Chief Architect) and I (using VWA & RW) are discussing working together. Is there any successful migration, integration, cross over (or exporting means)....(in anyone's experience) to working btwn the two programs? Thank you! Mark
  9. Has anyone found a way to accurately do exterior materials take offs like brick, stucco, siding, stone? I've been using VW for a long time and use the different wall styles and classes to get pretty far for wall area....displaying the results on a worksheet. Where it breaks down: example: a second floor exterior wall is in the "wall-stucco" class, but only part of the wall is actually exposed (stucco) while the other part of the wall continues down below the surface of the roof. The worksheet would have calculated the entire wall. I used to use space objects on the elevation...cutting around windows and doors. The worksheet would total up all the space objects in the (stucco class) and display the resulting area (sq.ft.). Seems like there should be a way to capture that information while I'm drawing the wall anyway, instead of doing this extra (space object) step (!). I suppose in those instances, I could draw two walls stacked: one wall for below the roof surface and the other for above the roof surface. Any thoughts? Thanks! Mark
  10. Same issue, two new items: Window schedule.... in the column marked "muntins" each line says "colonial" even though none of my windows have muntins checked. Is this a bug? Is there a work around? under egress: The default for all the data is "False" (I understand that I would have to mark them manually)...but is there any way to do a computation for the window that would "true" if over 5.7 sq.ft.? Thank you!
  11. So easy!! Thank you. I have (almost) zero experience with spreadsheets. Do you know of any good resources for basic stuff like this? thx again.
  12. I would like to add a new column to my door schedule that lists which floor (of the structure) the door/window can be found. What would be the database formula for this new column? Thank you! Mark
  13. I really appreciate your response. However, doing what you've suggested will change how the door appears in 3D as well, No? Again, in V10 there was one simple box to check that changed the 2D appearance while leaving all the 3D class attributes in tact. I was just on the phone with Tech Support a couple days ago and the gentleman helped me figure it out (in theory), but when it came to actually doing it in a real project, my memory escapes me as to the process. Any other ideas?
  14. Having jumped from version 10.5 to 12.5, I'm having difficulty getting my door and window symbols to display "the way they used to display". There was an option/check box in V10: "Use wall line thickness"...When checked, it caused the 2D version of the door/window symbol to take on the line attributes of the wall...not unlike the little graphic seen in the "wall details" tab of the "Door Settings" dialog box. Can someone please help me? I know it probably has something to do with my chosen wall style vs. what class my doors are in vs. whether or not I'm drawing "use at creation"...but I cannot figure it out. I've been using VW for years and this should be obvious, but I'm coming up short. Thank you, Mark
