  1. Is there any way (I've not found one) to produce brick stacks on the sides of windows/doors?
  2. Alan, not sure why you are calling this a solution(?) Not trying to be unkind or fiesty here. The purpose of classes (with regards to line wts.) is so that every object (or in the case of windows and doors: individual components of some objects) can have their own line wts. I use classes heavily....and on purpose. I'm trying to achieve a certain visual hierarchy to my presentation drawing that is graphically pleasing...(my background is in graphic design originally). The line weight of an object (or part of an object) matters to me. The "graphic standards" which I've developed over time makes my drawings distinctively "mine". The behavior of the elevation viewport (in my drawings) are behaving 98-99% "as advertised". Line weights of this or that object are appearing as I've prescribed through classes. The fact that there are these random anomalies with regards to window and door trim causes me to conclude that it is an issue stemming from the software programming. It is not right and should be fixed by Vectorworks. I'm a long time user and am committed to using the program...so I'm not jumping ship...but I think Nemetscheck should honor those of us who've used the program for so long by fixing some of these most basic problems before coming out with new "gizmos" that only a fraction of users probably utilize on a daily basis. I should not have to change all of my line weights to be the same (and therefore make my drawings visually "bland") in order to get rid of a couple random thick lines that ought not be there. I COULD use white lines and fix these areas....but that's a "work around" not a solution. Thank you. Further, I did not actually follow the sequence of your attachments in the link that you provided. I didn't see what they were trying to illustrate. Lastly, I've never seen that dialog box (I'm on a mac) "classes and attributes" where you can set BOTH the 2D and 3D line weights. Is that available to mac users?
  3. This has happened 100% of the time for 14 years. The only random part of the equation is which windows are affected and to what degree. I don't know why (nor would I be able to predict) that just a 1/4 of the exterior top trim on one window will render darker. or the entire left side and bottom trim on a different window. Saving, closing, re-opening does nothing. This is a vector works software, programming flaw. I've called or written 4 or 5 times over the past many years and am told they are aware and working on it. (??)
  4. I've asked tech support about this before. This has been an issue as long as I've had vector works 14+ years. Do YOU have this issue? In the hidden line rendered viewports, the trim around windows or doors do not (always) render cleanly. There will be a random bold line along the edge (or a partial edge) of a window or door exterior trim on my elevations. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes the bold line is on the right side only; sometimes left and bottom; sometimes its just a dot or a partial line. See attached image.
  5. I know NOTHING about AutoCad or other software. I have an architect that needs to add some notes etc. to my sheets. I tried to export to dwg (per his request) using the default settings but the architect is having difficulty with the results. Can you tell me (maybe via screen shots) precisely what options to toggle on or off for best possible results? Thank you!
  6. I never upgraded to Yosemite while running VWA2015 because I was told there was a glitch. (I stayed with 10.9.5 since everything was running smoothly as is). I'm wondering if that has been resolved with 2016...and now I see that El Capitan has come out. Any reason to believe there are any issues with Apples latest version running VectorWorks latest version? Thanks, Mark
  7. I'm looking for an image props library...is there one native to Renderworks? Also, you mentioned a background that may include trees...Are there any in Renderworks. In general, (historically) I have terrible success when trying to find a resource. Maybe its that I tend to use many of the same resources and put them into my template and don't routinely hunt for new items VS. familiarizing myself with the zillions of libraries and resources available. I just don't know how to navigate it well for some reason?
  8. I posted this (possibly mistakenly) in VWA. I usually give clients a few exterior renderings to help visualize the exterior 3D geometry. I have a builder who would like me to start doing his marketing illustration that go on his "coming soon" yard signs. Not sure what the best way of moving toward this "look" for him is. I used to own photoshop and could get by pretty well, but that's been years. Not sure if that's necessary or not. I have attached a recent rendering I sent him as well as what he'd like me to aim at (an illustration another guy did for him). Please advise. Thank you!
  9. Why is move along path animations limited to 5 seconds in duration?
  10. Thanks. I don't see the file (image) when I preview. Hopefully it's there.
  11. I originally wanted to add an image, but didn't see where to do this within a post. screen shot would be easiest...
  12. wish: the ability to have a custom width (for shutters) on double windows that have an arch top transom.
  13. It would be nice to be able to maintain a consistent roof facia/edge thickness where a portion of a roof plane extends beyond the rest of the roof. Currently, just actual edge displays the true vertical measurement desired on double mitered roof edges. Any edges further up the roof plane displays the cross section of the roof thickness.
  14. wouldn't that just give me the "area" (not the volume) of each component?
  15. Is there any way to calculate for the volume in a wall (or all walls in a document) minus the volume that the studs take up? This would be useful for calculating insulation on a take off.
  16. Sorry, I'm not following what you're saying zoomer. Thanks JimW
  17. Wow! can't believe I missed this tool! Thank you.
  18. Thanks much for the work around!! I will have to look into this.
  19. I think it would be good for the default date stamp of the heliodon to be set to the current day (today)....then one could customize from there.
  20. Where to roof faces (of differing pitches intersect) ie. front to back 8/12 pitch; side to side 12/12 pitch: It would be nice to have a way to see (in plan view) what angle is (the intersecting of these different roof pitches)....so that I could trim the roof faces to fit each other more quickly. OR BETTER YET....to be able to select two roof faces (after drawing them to overlap in plan view)....to be able to clip them based on the intersecting angle.
  21. I would like the ability to place a window object into a roof face to create a skylight. (I know you can do this with the create roof menu, but I can't imagine that this is a very useful item? ALL roofs (on any complicated house) is different and the roof that VWA suggests is extremely limited. I have no problem creating dormers from scratch, however, again I know theres a way to do this with the create roof menu item. Why not with the roof face?
  22. The window portion of a sidelight often has "paneling" under it. It would be nice to have some customization of the sash width so they might match the rails and/or stiles of the door.
