  1. ok took care of it!

apparently you have to click on the roof object and then go to the object info box. scroll all the way to the bottom of the object info box and uncheck "create gable end walls" This will remove the walls that were created as part of the roof. Next, you just have to select the original end wall again and do another "Fit Wall to Roof" and now it looks perfect.

  2. I've create a simple rectangular structure and placed a gable roof on top. I then used the "Fit Walls to Roof" option.

The side walls fit to the roof perfectly. However, the walls at the gable end fit to the roof only to the bearing height and continues flat across. The rest of the wall is created as an additional component of the roof.

Now this is my problem. I have a double hung window that is placed in the wall. The window cuts a hole in the original wall but it does not cut a hole through the new wall created as part of the roof object.

Does anyone know why the window does not cut through the new wall? Does anyone know how to get the window to cut a hole in the new wall?

  3. How do I correctly draw my building?

I've set up a simple file with the following Design Layers:

    Mod-Roof

    Mod-Floor-2

    Mod-Slab-2

    Mod-Floor-1

    Mod-Slab-1

    Mod-Foundation

I know I draw my first floor walls on Mod-Floor-1 and my second floor walls on Mod-Floor-2. If I have a floor to floor height of 9'0" do i draw my first floor walls 8'0" and then draw a floor on the Mod-Slab-2 layer that is 1'0" thick? or...

Should I draw my exterior walls on the first floor 9'0" with my interior partitions at 8'0"? Then draw a 1'0" floor on the Mod-Slab-2 layer?

  4. I created a Drawing Border with a custom Title block that I created and saved it as a template. I then start a new drawing using my new template. Next I go and setup my Model (2 floors, 1 basement). Then I create standard view ports (Floor Plans) using an Arch D Drawing Border and My custom Title block.

Then I try to use the Issue Manager.

At this point I'm prompted with a screen that says:

    Issue Manager

    Issue Number: A

    Issue Date: 1/8/08

    Issue Note: Issue Note

There is not a Project Tab or a Sheet Data Tab. When I made my Title Block i was sure to create a Record Format as explained in the manual. What have I done wrong? The design series manual shows an example of using Issue Manager but, it does not show how to correctly setup a Custom Title Block for use with Issue Manager.

  5. Ok I'm new to vectorworks 2008. I am trying to setup templates and title blocks for my office. I want to be able to do the following:

    1. Create New File from Template

    2. Setup my Floors using Model Setup

    3. Create Standard Viewports

    4. Click on one Title Block and insert information that will appear on all Sheet Layers (client name, client address)

    5. Click on a second Title Block and insert information that is specific to a Sheet Layer (drawing name, drawing number, scale)

    Is this possible?

    Thank You in advance,

    Derek

  6. I'm sure a lot of people have this problem. you have two objects named object A and object B. Object A is directly behind object B. Normally when you try to select either, object B is selected since it is infront of object A.

My question, is there a way to easily select object A which is behind object B without sending object B to the back?

    Thanks

    Max

  7. I'm using Vectorworks 10.5

example. Most of my drawings are drawn using a 4 mil line thickness. Every so often i want to create an object drawn with a 2 mil line thickness. When i draw the object it draws in a 4 mil line thickness. I then have to go back and select the lines and change them to 2 mil.

How do I change the line thickness before I draw the object so my object is drawn in a 2 mil line thickness so I don't have to go back and select all the lines and reset their thickness?
