  1. Ray, I missed that setting while scanning through the preferences, thanks alot, my problem is solved.
  2. when rotating text it always rotates left even when using rotate right. my round about fix is to 'tru-type to poly line', fill with black and outline to none, a time consuming process that reduces the letter quality as well. is there a setting that will allow me to rotate text right?
  3. correct, even selecting a different tool the cursor remains as a small cross, and as I write this my cursor is stuck as a small cross with a text insertion tool directly below it no matter what tool i select. thanks
  4. sometime i'll lose my default cursors (arrow for selecting, magnifying glass for zoom tool, etc.) and get a small cross instead. i must be hitting some keyboard shortcut. i have to restart VW to get the normal cursors back. what is the keyboard command for changing the cursor?
  5. Does Vectorworks work optimally at a certain screen resolution. I use 1280 x 1024 but find using 1024 x 768 is quicker
  6. i think this problem is related to other similar quirks that only I experience and in the past have gotten advice that i needed to update my video driver, which i did and still experienced the same problems. they occur usually after i've been using VW for 15 minutes or so. it's like some sort of buffer gets filled up and the program can't react to the input i give it. I have a dell 20 inch ultrasharp 2001FP digital flat panel and ATI Radeon x300 SE video card.
  7. i create a 2d polygon, my default fill is solid. i want to change it to none. while my polygon is still selected from creating it, i change my fill to none. the polygon remains solid and my default changes to none. To prevent this i must de-select the polygon then re-select it before i can change the fill.
  8. Is there a mode in walkthrough that won't allow you to move through objects?
  9. turning MacAffee off makes no difference. VW runs fine at first but more problems show up the longer it is running. examples: a) must click on tools 2 or 3 times before they become selected. b) some dialog boxes (move for instance) won't allow tabbing through fields. c) must deselect a newly created object then select it before adding line thickness or fill attributes (most notable in 2D polygon tool). i must say though that VW really fulfills my CAD needs and fixing these little quirks would just make things that much nicer for me. thanks
  10. I quit using autosave after half of my file was corrupted by being overwritten with zeros when autosave set to 15 minutes kicked in right at the same time I was trying to exit a group edit.
  11. Katie and Alan, thank you for your input. Yes, these slow down problems don't start happening until I've been working in VW for 10 or 15 minutes. I had to remove the video driver I installed yesterday because it caused my system to freeze up upon startup. My mouse is corded MS optical. I use the architect workspace. I shutdown system at night and re-start in the morning. I am usually running outlook and may have some office applications running concurrently as well as explorer. I also have MacAffee running also.
  12. after working in VW for a bit it seems the problem is still there and it must be something particular to my setup because it seems no one else has these problems. i do notice a slight improvement. my video driver is radeon x300 series and i downloaded ATI catalyst control center radeon driver bundle. any other suggestions.
  13. thanks katie, update sucsessful, i'll let you know if it fixes my problem
