I just ran the disk utility, but it did not change the situation. Yes. I am on 2008 now. Service pack is installed. Sorry for the confusion....

I do not get any error message, but the alert saying "this file already exist. do you want to replace it?" . The file name that it referred to was "MacOS.dwg". The hard drive had to be replaced with new one by Apple, and Leopard was installed on to the new hard drive when the computer came back from them. I have not run Disk Utility since then. Should I run it?

I tried to save onto desktop, but I still could not do it. The computer is on OS 10.5. Does it have anything to do with it?

I have read/write privileges, logged in as an administrator.

What do you mean by "limited user permissions"?

Hi. I am trying to export VW 2008 file to DWG format. When I go Export>DWG/DXF, it seems that it only allows me to export as the file name "MacOS.dwg". On the top of this, I can only save this file to "Contents" folder in "User" , but I don't see the folder when I actually look for it. Is there any setting that can change this??

Thank you EJ and Katie, I ran the disk utility since I did not install or make change any fonts. After the utility repaired some errors, texts are working fine right now. Thank you so much for your help! puchi

Hello. All of a sudden, when I click the "text tool" and click on the drawing to type, I get "beach ball" spinning forever. I tried in many different files, but I get the same error. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thank you, puchi

I never thought of purging after importing ACAD file! (I discover the "purge" function only recently...) Usually, I just import without paying much attention to any options.... Will definitely try these! Mike, Thank you so much for your help!

Thank you for your quick response. I will try repairing permissions immediately. My "bad" file is looking worse now. it does not switch between layers anymore..... I tried cut/paste by layers into clean file, but it seems that once i import/ paste "bad" object, it spreads and affect other good text...... I decided to blame all on .... ACAD!!! ; ) Thanks so much for your help and time.

Thank you, Peter. I am new to this forum. I am using Mac G4/OS 10.3.9 at home, and Mac G4/OS 10.2 at work. The type of the font that is affected is... Helvetica. I only use one type of font all the time. One thing I did not mention is that I imported some objects with text from AutoCAD file. I think this has something to do with the problem, but I do this all the time, and never had much of a problem like this before..... I'd appreciate any help/ tips!

I am on Vectorworks 10.01. I have been working on this particular file for past week or so, then all of a sudden some of the texts look like "knocked down" by 90 degrees. They are not "flipped" or "rotated". Within a text box, individual letter is roted by 90degrees, so that it's impossible to read as a word. This happened before when I printed, the text on the prints came out like this, but they look fine on the screen. However, this time, it started affecting my file itself. I tried copy and paste objects only to the brand new file , then typed texts. Then same thing again. Please help! My drawing set is done, but I can't either print or make PDF file to present it to my client!!!! puchi
