  1. Am I going to have to model these from scratch? I don't see anywhere in the wall tool settings to pitch the wall.
  2. When I use the light tools (spot and point) I see the symbols in my renderings. How do I turn the visibility of the light off without turn the light off?
  3. I'm a little confused with this. I made a Parbar as a Multi Circuit symbol, but I couldn't label it like I needed. When I selected a range of them and used the Auto Numbering tool, it would number the pars like this: 201.1, 201.2, 201.3; or A.1, A.2, A.3. All I want is a single Parbar symbol that I can auto number the individual pars with basic sequential numbers like: 201, 202, 203, 204, 205... What is the best way to do this? The Multi Circuit wasn't working, so I made a single Parbar symbol, converted it to instrument and used the User 1 thru User 6 fields with a label legend that puts those numbers next to their respected par in the symbol. Of course I can't auto number now. Any other ideas out there?
  4. I've already converted it to 3D polys. Did you want that one, or should I make the extruded one again and send it?
  5. I figured this out. For some reason the Shadow options of a texture (Cast and Receive) do not work on an Extruded object, but if I convert to 3D polygons, they do function. Not sure if this a bug or something that was fixed in 2009.
  6. Not the case here. The grid was made by drawing a vertical rectangle at about 6in X 80feet and duplicate array about 30 times. Then I did the same going horizontal. All the rectangles had a brown fill and black outline. I then selected all the rectangles and used Add Surface to weld them all together. Next, I extruded the object 6 inches. I now have my grid which looks like 6"x6" beams making the grid. The attribute is still brown fill and black outline. Then I made a new Renderworks Texture, and the only thing I did was uncheck Cast Shadows. I applied the texture to the 3D grid, just as I have applied other textures to other 3D objects, but it still cast shadows. Could it be that Directional lights do not obey shadow attributes the way other lights do?
  7. Ray, I did do this, but still no luck. Let me break it down to help. I have a soundstage with sets and lights and what not all around. To speed up the renderings I am making for WIP showings, but still have depth, I through in a couple of Directional Lights. I just added the permanent grid above everything to represent the ceiling height, but I get an awful shadow of the grid across everything. So I created a new Texture with no attributes other than Object Attribute for Color, and I unchecked Cast Shadow. I applied the texture to the grid and I still see a shadow in Final Renderworks.
  8. I have an extruded object, and I want to disable Casting Shadows for just this object...how? I want other objects to cast shadows, just not this one.
  9. Unfortunately, luminosity has not been added to VW yet. I am looking forward to this coming some day.
  10. Does anyone have PDF3D? How much is it?
  11. How do I create an elevation of an interior curved wall, but have the elevation flatten the wall?
  12. Thanks Jeff. Done deal. Upgrade to VW-SP2 and all is good. Thank You,
  13. Defragging didn't help much. I'll try and explain a bit better. When I open my file and immediately do a Final Renderworks w/ Shadows, it takes about a minute, tops, to render. Then I'll go back to wireframe, make changes to something, go back to my camera view and render again, no problems. After rerendering five or six times, I get a "Lack of Memory" message, and I can't render any more. I save, close VW, then relaunch it and my file, and once again, I am able to Render another five or so times. So, some sort of cache is filling up everytime I render, and when I close VW, it clears it out and allows me to render again. Is there something in the preferences I am missing?
  14. Oops. I updated it. I've also got 3GB of Virtual memory set.
  15. I keep having this issue when rendering my viewports. After a few times, it says it can't anymore due to lack of memory. When I close VW and reopen the file, I can render again for a bit, and then I get the same message. Is there somewhere I can adjust this memory issue so as not to have to quit and relaunch VW so much?
  16. I have a simple large 3D polygon in the shape of a rectangle. The fill attribute is white, but when I render it out, it turns grey. This is, ofcourse, because it treats it as a solid object with shaded values do to the default light or the lights I have in the drawing. So, how do I make this rectangle illuminate white? I want it to act as though it is a white silk stretched out over the set and it is being illuminated by hundreds of lights above. Is there a simple way to add a luminosity value to a 3D object?
  17. in print out. I set the floor to about 88% opacity in order to see under it slightly. When I try to print the viewport, the lines on most of the other objects, both 2D and 3D, are missing. It looks perfectly fine in the actual Viewport, but the printout and the print preview do not turn out right.
  18. Good news...It was a broken reference file. I deleted it, and that part is good now. However, this particular file is taking nearly five minutes to load. It's about 40MB in size. Is this normal?
  19. The Purge didn't work. I'll check the reference files in the morning. Thanks.
  20. Not too long ago I had imported a couple of JPEGs that I incorporated into my drawing. I had them in viewports that were part of my sheet layers. Since then, I have deleted the JPEGs from the drawing. They don't even show in the resource browser, which is good. I don't want them in the drawing anymore. My problem is that every time I open this file now, I get a message saying "Unable to locate these JPEG files..." and do I want to manually locate them. If I deleted the JPEGs, why does it still look for them upon opening the file? How can I remove them permantly? Please help. Thank You.
