  1. Well, I've got the filling it is not fixed... or may be am I doing something wrong? 1. Say i've got a simple filed called rectangle with 4 rectangles drawn in 4 differents classes and set to follow classes attributes (red green yellow and blue) 2. I then create a new file called reference and i create a VPreferenced and I select the "use current document's class visibilities" option 3. the classed do turn invisible, grey or visible as I switch the class on and of, but the attribute of each rectangle would only be editable withing the class option of the VP referenced... (this means that if I change the attribute of class1 from red to magenta nothing happens, only if i change the attributes of class1 within the VP option does the change reflects) All my classes do have the same names in the different files ... hmm so I guess it does "override" the current file classes attributes... but what's the point if it didn't follow them at first? Am I using a bad logic? Best
  2. Hello, I'm stuck on this one and would appreciated very much your advise : I recently updated directly from VW12.5 to VW2009 so i'm trying to convert my old way of using referenced layer (since I understood this way of doing might be old-fashioned in2009)to referenced VP. So I got that as in VW12.5 usual VP, classes can be set to follow the visibility of the file rather then the visibility of the VP classes. What about color? Can I make the classes of the VP all follow the color of the class? If not how do you use the referenced VP so to have uniform setting for classes? May be to make this clearer I should explain that I use to draw my plan in one file, all the surrounding information in another file and all the landcape designing in another file. Then I would reference all the files in a final presentation and printing file. Then I use to set all the attributes of the classes (all my object are set to use classes attributes) in that final file to suit my printing (and I have different script that set the classes to BW or color following our need)... Now, If I set the classes of the file, the classes of the references viewport do not follow... so all my workflow is not so good anymore... How do you guys do this in VW2009? Many thanks for comments.
  3. hmm... just went on the bug submit page : they say one should explain STEP BY STEP what's leading to the bug... I've got no idea as it just does not happen all the time, but sometime in some walls...
  4. oups sorry didn't pay attention to the link... will do that
  5. Ok. I'm uploading the file here : http:///b612architectes.com/vw2009/0804 - BRUYN_PL100_BATC-test3.vwx. It happens not only in one file but in quite a few of them. some of the initial file were drawn in 12.5... so i wondered whether it was linked with conversion. yet we've copy pasted the wall into "clean" VW2009 files and the "phenomenon" was still there... that's why we saw it as a kind of "contamination"... well these are all not very scientific... We were just happy to find a work around without needing to redraw the whole thing...
  6. Now i'm sure this is a bug!!! and the work around is : make a viewport and rotate it by 0,05? for exemple so that no walls stay horizontal or vertical (sometime the phenomenon happens on vertical walls othertime on horizontal). As soon as the walls are not straight the windows and doors come back to normal, 0?05? is not too visible... still it's really annoying.
  7. Does anyone have a clue about this? the phenomenon is linked with the orientation and happens only in one direction (all the windows that are horizontal) If I make a referenced viewport of the drawing and rotate the viewport by 90? the phenomenom switches so that it happens still to the windows in horizontal walls... and the rotated wall (now in the vertical direction) contain windows that look fine...
  8. Hi, I'm experimenting a very strange phenomenon : I've got PIO windows and doors inserted in walls. Some of them behave normally, others have the door sheet or window rotated at 90?... It's totally bizarr. And I realized the problem comes from the wall. So the same window would be normal in some wall and then if inserted into a "contaminated" wall it will start to behave strangely en wont retrun to normal once reinserted into the other walls... Any body as a clue of why it does so? Is there any parameters I should set up or is this a bug??? Here is a view of the strange doors and windows
  9. Hi, VW2009's new features mentions htat there's a indexl of all the librairies localised in \Libraries\VW2009LibrariesIndex.xls ... I don't have such a file in my whole VW2009... the only .XLS file I have is "Xfrog Index.xls"... Anybody has an idea? Thanks
  10. yes please comment more about the overwhole workflow after upgrade. Many thanks.
  11. Thanks quigley. Actually our team is rather small. But we nevers thought about upgrading only 1 or two seats since we work so much closely one with the others... It is a good idea though. I think that your advice to wait a month is also quite reasonable too.
  12. Like most of us, I read the announcement of VW2008 with much excitement and have been reading the forums with accute interest over the last 2 weeks. Many of the new features sound really great and I'm really tempted. However, having experiment all the upgrades from VW11.5 to VW12, 12.5, 12.5.1 and finally 12.5.2 which is at the end a quite mature stage of VW12, I must admit that I can understand why everyone in the office is quite insisting on setting down for some more "established" and almost "bug free" workflow... When 2 weeks ago I announced proudly the release of the new version and my interest in upgrading, the whole team had a kind of "don't do that" reaction or "can't we just give it a rest" expression... at least they've sort of clearly expressed their doubts about my idea... I guess their reaction made me have second thoughts and 10 days later I've still not been able to take a decision... 2 ways worksheet and the ability to modify many plug-ins in on single move, is something we've really been waiting for as well as transparency... yet I can't deny I'm anxious at the idea that those nice features will come at the cost of many others... and many yet unknown bugs... Anybody would like to share his conclusion about the pros and cons for upgrading?
  13. Would it be possible to have a spheric quicktime pano... one that can show the sky and the ground, and let you move all around the sphere (not just left and right...)
  14. Hi Shaun, What do you think VW2008 will be or won't be able to do? I'm fairly interested caus windows have been my nightmare...
  15. Well, I'm posting this in case it can be helpfull to someone, it is not very orthodox, but it works (apparently). I've been trying hard for a while to find a work around to the impossibility to use "wallaverageheight" and other formulas in worksheet in 12.5.1... I was hoping to be able to keep on having an automatised worksheet. None of my attempt worked. So I uninstalled 12.5.1 on one machine and reinstalled 12.5.0, but all the drawings that had already been converted to 12.5.1 would appears with tons of infinite corrupted walls going randomly through the plan when reopened with 12.5.0 and the worksheet became unuseable : it did not give false information it simple had blanks and... anyway the program would always end up crashing. On another machine I reinstalled 12.5.0 without uninstalling 12.5.1... and it could reopened the converted files ok and recalculate all the worksheets correctly. so I reinstalled 12.5.1 on the first machine and reinstalled 12.5.0 without uninstalling and same as on the second machine, I can reopened my files without corrupting my walls and use my worksheet. I've tried to go back an forht with the same file from 12.5.1 to 12.5.0 making modification in on and then the other version... it all seems to work. I guess it shouldn't be to good to do to much of those back and forth... so I'm going to stick to 12.5.0 for a while, just being happy to have found a way to reopen my files (even thought quite a bit had been drawn with 12.5.1) and use my worksheets. hope this can help someone. Li Mei : very happy!
  16. i shall give a try to mike suggestion with charles chandler's pluggin... that doesn't solve the worksheet problem though...
  17. Yes. i've reread all the threads on that subject and it always get stuck somewhere. i've been chewing that problem for quite a whilen (since VW11.5) trying to build up a system that works, but still using symbols and PIO somehow in a work around way. I mean I'm realising that i'm struggling quite a lot partially because i'm using windows and doors in a way that is not the one intended by NNA when conceiving them... BUT it's NOT that I haven't tried to do it the way they intended(or at least what I underestood they intended), but it just too cumbersome to imagine editing doors and windows with the eyedropper going through hundreds of similar windows and not being able to change them at the same time. So yes, I guess that a lot has to do with the inability of vw to mass edit PIO. This is the reason that has lead me to put windows in symbols... THEN, i'm also trying to build a system that actually use VW worksheet capacities. I've notice that many people do use the windows schedule, but not the wallarea calculation formulas... how do you guys make your schedules? manually or with some automatized systems that are using the worksheets? how?
  18. May be I shoud put this in the wish list, but I thought I should ask first in case this was possible : I'm trying to track down doors and to be able to count them according to the wall in which they are inserted. say I have D01 that can be inserted either as a symbol or as a PIO in different kind of wall. Say I have plaster walls (WalltypeA) and brick walls (walltypeB). Say I have 88 doors, some are in walltypeA some in walltypeB : does vw know which are in walltypeA and which are in walltypeB. Is there anyway to get this information? yours, Li Mei
  19. Hi, I've been working on a similar pattern as willofmaine, it worked fine including for schedule for a while, and i had built a nice worksheet system to count symbols and also calculate wall areas etc... it all went down with the "wallaverageheight", net surface and brutto surface bugs... so now i'm trying to count the symbols not only to get schedules but also to deduce my wall surface area. It's pretty ok to count symbols, but is there a way to count them according to wich kind of wall there inserted in (so to be able to substract their surface to the wall surface and get the wall net surface)? I've try the location formula, without to much luck. any suggestion?
  20. yeah. that's exactly what happens! can't have a straight view of the sky! I tried to do it by setting a bottom view and addind perspective but I can't use it for my pan since i need a fixed point for the ground and the sky view (the cam should be set at the same position)... Crazy!
  21. Hi, I'm trying to make a panoramic view in piranesi. I need 6 cam looking straight in each directions (N,S,E,W,up and down) with identical standing point. I can get NSEW quite easily. A simple cam looking a the ground and at the sky is however quite impossible to set. Impossible to set a cam other than in top view, than I can't rotate it in 3D to look at the sky straigth! if I try to increase the height of the view point it turns out to look at the soil!! 've trying whole day. it drives me nuts! Is my conclusion right : this is just impossible?????
  22. I have slope but I can use average height, the big problem is the area, it ws nice to have all the windows and doors deducted, now I have to count the symbol and sustract;.. anyway too late for me too find a solution, will do it the old way: this means manually. best
  23. thank you robert, is there a special area where the maintenanse release are posted? Do you have an idea about how soon that can be? Would you have any tip for me in the meantime? How do you think drawings made in VW12.5.1 would react if put back in the VW12 version? would that work?
  24. Hi Islandmon! :-) Well in fact, this is quite a serious issue to me! I spent some time back a few monthes ago preparing my worksheets (tons of them for the scheudule of a huge project (for my standard of course?, knowing that I would need them to be very efficient today. Then we upgraded to VW12.5. I didn't pay attention about the worksheet for a while, I was more preoccupied by the conception (and I thought I had good functionning worksheets to rely on). I just got strucked by the awfull!!! reality two days ago, I couldn't believe it was a bug!!! now I've got my deadline in 10 days... does any one tried something that worked to solve the issue? Or did anyone tried to reinstall VW12 and run the worksheets on drawing made in VW12.5???
