  1. To follow up, ended up being operator error. At some point that I did not notice, the Attribute Palette default was set at 25% opacity. When other (non-wall) objects got transparent, twas a clue.
  2. Still using VW2010..... When I cut a section through walls and floors, the viewport displays the cross section plane as semi-transparent, showing objects beyond the plane. What I want is the typical merged cross-section for clarity. Even the Section Style-Structural presents a washed-out pink in the viewport when I use the VW default setting of bright red. I have checked all classes and layers for opacity, all 100%. I have checked that all relevant classes have a fill. Any ideas?
  3. I don't see how modifying a workspace is an advanced user skill. IMHO pretty much everyone can and should improve the efficiency of their workflow by customizing for needs, habits, and unique neural networks.
  4. You must activate View>Unified View. You can look at options too.
  5. Just checking out the possibilities, if there are interested users. I imagine the geographic area as Northern Dutchess County and Southern Columbia County in NY, Northwest Connecticut, and Southern Berkshire County in Massachusetts. Meetings near center of the area (Tri-corner)? Please respond by forum or PM.
  6. That's impressive DM. Quite humble of you to make the vids public. I'm gimping about with a broken ankle from downhill mountain biking. Maybe I should post some heroic vids too.
  7. bad youtube link. could you pls export back to VW2010 and i'll look.
  8. You're not doing step 2 of Kevin's instructions. First model the entire volume inside of the rim joist. Then when you Intersect Solids with the field joists you should end up with them trimmed as needed. Then add rim joist. It's how I understand it anyway.
  9. In fact, Connect/Combine works with some species of 3D objects, namely NURBS curves and surfaces.
  10. Michael- That may well work for him, but there is some imprecision with that filled-in elbow of the NURBS surface. I've been trying hard (and failing) to create a surface within the bounds of the 3D polygon. Though we are missing data as far as what happens within the boundary I'm surprised that VW is unable to generate something (short of painstakingly moving vertices in an Interpolated Surface).
  11. Chris- I don't know if you have already looked at it, but there is an add-on to VW called interiorcad which parametrically creates all types of cabinetry and allows very detailed control of textures. interiorcad (Coronal Studios) The basic module(called XS) doesn't include a lot of data output, which that's OK if you're not using it for production.
  12. If you would please export to 2010, I'll try to take a look.
  13. Doesn't seem so, unfortunately. Some older discussions: STEP google vw&stp for more.
  14. All that being true, Jonathan, there is still something frustrating about the process. I carefully build a 3D model then use various kinds of viewports on multiple sheets to document the model. Average 4 VP per sheet, average job 20 sheets=80 VPs with various render settings. Needless to say, Update All takes a while. If I change one thing, say change a door reveal by 3mm, every VP goes out of date, even the ones where this door's class is set invisible. I try to work with candycanes all over while wishing things were smarter. I feel Kizza's pain.
  15. Bruce and taoist- I too have no unexpected results with as many permutations as I can imagine(like Kevin). Maybe post files or images so we can better understand.
  16. Absolutely plus one more. Critical.
  17. Monadnoc, I second your nostalgia for dear Katie. The key thought is that she . She couldn't fix them but she could definitely do that by acknowledging and listening.
  18. Same here. Also appears to be true for Batch Print as well.
  19. Modify>Edit Constraints>Remove.....
