  1. As far as I can tell I have set all there is in VW to metric. Still when importing dwg files VW wants to import to imperial as default. Is there a way to block all imperial use in VW? I have no need for it - ever.
  2. Is there a way to have xref files included when imorting dwg files?
  3. Imported dwg title blocks sometimes become groups without intelligence, sometimes symbols with their intelligence intact. Does anyone know why? I think I have tried all possible settings in "import options" including "linked text handling". In the latter the options vary from 4 to 2 depending on the dwg files...can't tell why.
  4. It seems all classes imported from dwg by default get a fill with the same settings as the pen setting, although they have no fills in the original dwg file. I would like the default conversion to be without fill. Have I missed something or is this the way things are...?
  5. I wish the class settings of a selected object would be directly accessible by double clicking the class in the OIP. This would simplify visibility changes etc. Or at least - if an object is selected and you enter the class organizer, the class of the selected object should be highlited and visible without scrolling the window.
  6. Whatever the license stipulates, the basic idea must be an optimal workflow for all VW users spending more and more cash on yearly upgrades. As long as only one single person uses one license anything must be okay. It can't be in the interest of NNA that rendering unables further work on VW, maybe for hours. These workarounds are only useful for long time renderings anyway. What we really need is an integrated background rendering engine working on a automatically created temporary copy. We need efficiency in VW, not time consuming workarounds. It is also my belief that most members of this forum are comitted to VW and share their knowledge and spend a lot of time for the best of VW and thereby NNA - not to find ways to exploit obscurities in the license agreement.
  7. Thanks P. I didn't know the app could be duplicated, so I used different issues simultaniously. Being able to use the same version makes it even better than what I asked for. A seperate app like C4D would be nice, but not within my budget unless 3D projects become more frequent. hyv?? p?iv?njatkoa!
  8. Is there a way to turn the lighting (spotlight) symbols off in a fast renderworks rendered sreen view. I know they do not show when printed, but I would like to be able to have a clean picture on screen as well.
  9. A full version of the render engine in VWviewer 2009 would allow us to render a copy of a file while continuing working on the original file on the same computer. Now VW is blocked during rendering. This can be done by exporting a copy to 2008 and render it in that version, but with VWviewer I imagine it would be simpler.
  10. It seems the file is corrupt somehow. There are other things that don't render at all... I'll get back when / if necessary....
  11. Columns, made from extruded discs with fill, will not appear in any radiosity rendered views. Only their positions are marked with a disc on the floor and ceiling. In Open GL and Final Qty RW they show just fine. Any idea what's wrong?
  12. "Buy 2009" does not mean "buy upgrade 2009"....or does it? As I understand you'll have to pay a full new 2009 license to get the 2010 upgrade. Two upgrades should still be more expensive than a new license. A new license allows you to to work on yet another workstation. As I remember 2009 came with a new Parasolid rendering system. Useful if you need it.
  13. Hej tomten! Allt har l?st sig...."plot with plot styles" skulle vara kryssat ocks?. morsning,
  14. Thanks Shaun, problems resolved! You were right! Just knowing that there is a way to do it makes one find it eventually. In fact not a VW issue. As you mentionned a "tick" that made no sense had to be checked. All parameters were already set correctly in the chosen "ctb", but still "plot with plot styles" had to be checked as well. Stupid, stupid, stupid.....! thank's again!
  15. Aha...I knew that. Went back to pure basic with a test file with a few rectangles in a few different classes, all by layer etc etc...You know my melody.... It sounds great until it's printed. Then all notes are the same. It's something with the plot settings in LT. It's like having Messias by Haendel on the screen but hearing In the Ghetto by Elvis in your earphones.
  16. When exporting files to AutoCadLT 2007, the lines show nicely on the PC monitor with right colors, thickness etc, but when printing all lines are the same. The printer settings are OK (checked with other AC files). The same files print fine in AutoCad 2008 (full version - not LT). Is this a known problem? Am I doing something wrong? Any ideas? In desperate need of help....
  17. I'm sure I didn't have this problem before SP4 anyway.
  18. The other end it is, but as I'm doing the hard work for them they expect me to solve the problem. Telling them to get full versions is as tempting as a "Kool Bier bumpa bumpa mit eine Schlange pumpa pumpa", as the say in Deutschland. My files are fine both in eDrawings and pdf. There is something with this LT version that reminds me of Pripps Bl?. There is something missing....taste, quality...I don't get it. Can't put my finger on it. If I don't get this solved I'd rather go for a beard than a beer for X-mas. Absolutely inkognito forever. I will try exporting in earlier VW version tomorrow.
  19. Hehe....Nick made the trick...always landing feet down. If you're around for x-mas, let's have a beer.

    Dongle?

Is there a way to exchange the annoying dongle to a product key instead?
  22. Thanks guys for all tips. I've been too busy to keep track on this topic, but I'll have to try them all..... I eventually used pattern fills to solve the problem last time.
  23. Register and scaling the data is no problem. We just had this issue today. The site constructor was upset because we sent him a Autocad file in millimeters, called us names and claimed it's obvious site plans always are in meters. So we had to scale it down. Doing the opposite is no problem. Real world is no problem either.
  24. Hi Panta This is a common problem with site plans in AutoCad, as it doesn't handle scales as smoothly as VW. I often get site plans scaled down to 1:500 or similar instead of drawn in 1:1 and presented in a 1:500 viewport. Don't even try to explain to a AutoCad user what a VW layer is and that you can set different scales to them and still have them all visible. They will be offended and feel personally attacked and claim they work professionally compared to your hobby. I have too deal with these problems more or less every day and can give your friend just one advice.....let it be!
