  1. RonMan, that's what I do, but it must be a simple function to add to the PIO. You didn't find a way to create any odd # of chairs? I will add it to the wish list.
  2. Is there a way to move the chairs away from the table in the chair and table tool? I want them standing clear from the table edge. And how do I get 5 chairs around a round table?
  3. As I see it, this is what you get in 2008. At least almost. Some effort is still required. Just like Ray says, double click or right click on the VP and choose edit design layer. What's new in 2008 is that you will get a quick shortcut to get back to the sheet layer once you are finished. Just like when editing a group in 12.5 where you get the "exit group" button in the upper right corner, you will have a "return to VP" button. ...or is there more that is frustrating you?
  4. There is a quicker way to edit symbols than in the resource browser. Just double-click the symbol and the edit window opens. But editing a symbol changes this symbol for good and wherever you used it in the document. In the browser though, you can create a duplicate symbol with a new name first.
  5. I'm not sure it's impossible but I think so. Maybe you'll get a better reply.....? Meanwhile create a duplicate of the hatch and edit it to a convenient angle.
  6. have you tried exporting pdf instead of printing pdf?
  7. Are you sure they weren't working on a 12.5 files. There is a chance they were saved as 2008 copies somewhere. All 2008 files have a .vwx suffix, whereas 12.5 files have .mcd suffixes. Press ctrl F and print ".vwx" Also check your VWbackup folder. There might be something there.
  8. Is there a way to have black background in design layer mode and white in sheet layer mode - as a default setting?
  9. Why don't we have a column where we can print our own description to a class? Who can tell what A-------J1N is? It happens to be some kind of wall, but now way I can remember that.... This is possible in AutoCad2008.
  10. Please make the organization window printable. Simply add a "print" button to push for a printed list of i.e. all classes.
  11. Patterns are not editable as far as I know. Furthermore they don't scale. I would recommend you not to use patterns unless you are sure you will never rescale any part of the drawing. Try the "tile tool" instead. It's not easy to handle, but at least it scales and you can choose both colours and line weights. It's based on symbols (create your own) reproduced as patterns within a polygone.
  12. I wish there were an object fill style where the hidden parts of objects further back automatically were shown with dashed lines.
  13. michael, SP 2 contains SP1. SP 2 R3 is called "SP2 build 83388". That is the latest version. Why it's not called VW13.2.3 is a mystery to me...
  14. Thank you Bill for putting things right. Thinking about it twice I should have known better as dwg files can be opened and viewed in AI.
  15. Do you use viewports? It happens I get info drops like that. They show up on pdf's but I found out they actually occur in some viewports. I delete these VP and do fresh new ones and it's ok again. The viewport function is a little bit unstable.
  16. I suppose you want to import a drawing, i.e. lines and rectangles as vectorized objects. ai, jpg and similar files are image files. They have no vector information and will not interpret other than pixels. But in Adobe Illustrator you can save the file as a dwg file. Then it's easy to import it in VW. The scale will not be right, but that can be handled. This is also a way (there are others) to convert pdf files to editable VW files.
  17. Katie, Your post is dated January 08, but there are no downloads dated 2008 available....? No wonder we're all confused. I can see the problem. 2008 was not ready for release. It is merely a beta version. A series of upgrades called 2008.1 then 2008.1.2 etc in a short time would have been harmful to the reputation. Calling them service packs might make it less obvious to some, but in the end it will do even more harm. Calling any of them SP2 revision 3 - and specifying build numbers - that is too much! As a client of NNA I expect trustworthy information about the product I buy and also swift and correct response on simple questions concerning it. - and I'm sure not alone. So why all this confusion? Give all these people what they have paid for - a functional VW with a comprehensive download support. -please! Sorry to be tough on you, you're not personally responsible, I know. But NNA really needs a SP......Don't be ashamed - be proud of improvements. ...ain't that right Petri?
  18. Blue handles: the selected object is on the active layer. White handles: the selected object is on some other layer. Could that be it? I can't check it myself - forgot my dongle today.
  19. Is there a way to move the tile pattern created with the "modify/tile tool" in a polygone? - move it within the same polygone? I want the tiles location to fit the edge - or to be centered.
  20. I get questions about VectorWorks from potential new VW users. Most frequent questions are concerning dwg compability. I'm not a frequent "converter" and need some facts - not guessings - to endorse my recommendations. Is there any listing of (if any) identified and acknowledged compability problems with AutoCad 2008 dwg files?
  21. ...must be panther...No such problems in tiger. Thinkin' of upgrading to panther....is it worth while?
  22. I think you're right Joerg. It's confusing despite the blue triangle. There is definitely room for improvement. A co-rotating anchor is one!
  23. My resource browser tends to give up every now and then. Suddenly without notice it shows no resources. The resource browser window is blank. If I reboot VW it shows up again, but freeezes if I try to select a symbol. I have purged all unused symbols. - there are still lots of them - is there a limit? Anyone else with this problem out there?
