  1. I have a file that I've rendered side by side in 2018 and 2019. In 2018, the planar objects disappear as I expect them too. In 2019 - directly opened from the 2018 file, the planar objects pop back into existence at the end of the render. Is 2019 supposed to do this?
  2. This is AMAZING and worked the very first time for me. Thank you! It is worth noting that the alignments only work correctly if text is preset to justify left and top. And the design layer scale must be 1:1. And for some reason it put in VERY large text some unrelated text I'd typed in and then corrected recently in another file. Both of those strings came in. Does that have anything to do with the vsGetTextNode section at the top? Thank you, thank you, thank you!
  3. I've been experiencing this too. I have found that editing symbols from the resource manager, rather than from the document (contextually) gets me better results.
  4. Do you start with a Seating Section, or a Seating Layout and then convert to Section? Have you tried placing each section in a symbol and mirroring that? I did so recently and then exploded the symbols and got my seating sections without mirroring weirdness happening. It's a workaround. I agree with your basic complaint.
  5. Another good idea Pat! I haven't had a moment to actually try this out, but I"m keeping it in the back of my mind for one of our upcoming projects going overseas. Cris Dopher GPJ CAD Administrator
  6. Pretty much ALWAYS the solution! Haha. @Art V, have you tried reducing the graphics preferences to "good compatiblity"?
  7. I'd like to know too. I know your copy of VW is registered by being tied to your machine's unique ID - I suspect this is part of it. Perhaps a temp file that gets created during the registration process but that didn't get deleted?
  8. I have a point cloud imported from an .e57 file that is actually 7 point cloud objects. They overlay each other and together describe the building very well. I've trimmed away excess points and now I'm wondering if it's possible to turn all the points into a single point cloud object? Cris
  9. This seems like a good way to go. I'll try it; thanks!
  10. @Archi-RSH have you check your graphic quality in VW prefs? You want it set on Good Performance/Good Compatability, not Best Performance.
  11. Hi all. Is there a way to give worksheets on drawing rounded corners? Cris Dopher
  12. Jim W, a tiny nitpick but in the export list, it says "Image files" where it should say "point clouds". And thanks for this full listing! Nice to have handy.
  13. I saw the Teaser Tuesday post about the touchbar customization, but I can't make it happen for some reason. With no document open, selecting "Customize Touchbar..." from the Vectorworks menu only leads to the System customization screen. With a document open, I only get the System screen and for only a split second. Then it disappears and VW is back on the screen. I've NEVER seen the VW tools on the Touchbar. What do you think the problem might be?j Cris Dopher
  14. I'm not sure it's wise to rename the None class. I've had issues before when that was attempted.
  15. for archival sake, the answer here is to use the forumula =ROUNDUP(('lumber'.'length'),0) and make sure your column is set to display numbers as Dimensions. Whole feet is easy. Rounding to whole inches is more difficult in a feet-and-inches Units setup, as I'm finding.
  16. I agree this should revert. The user should have the option to Purge on his own, whether at time of import or later.
  17. My solution would have been to use a copy of ACAD or Draftsight to open the template, save as a .dwg there, then import THAT into Vectorworks. I've had plenty of dwgs come in with empty classes.
  18. When I use Publish... to make a set of drawings into a PDF, the program takes forever because it's re-rendering every viewport. Is there a global way to stop that? Used to be if you turned it off in your first Export to PDF action, it would stick in Publish, but that doesn't seem to work anymore. Ideas? Cris Dopher
  19. pipe and drape object: Is there a way to turn off highlighting of sliders on the end that don't work with the set slider length; i.e. the remainder?
  20. I have a brand-new iMac Pro at work. We migrated everything from my old machine to the new. I deleted all copies of Vectorworks and reinstalled from the latest releases fresh. VW2018 is working just fine, but VW2017 cannot seem to interact with the Finder, or whatever controls file opening processes. If I try to open a file, the program and the whole machine freezes completely. If by a miracle I get a file open (by dragging a file from the Finder to the application icon in the Dock), then I'm faced with being unable to even browse for resources in another file. (I'm assuming such action means the program is trying to open the file behind the scenes before it can display its resources -- hence my suspicion of VW/Finder interaction problem.) I have run Onyx and fixed permissions. Saving a file, once I'm in and have made changes, goes smoothly. Backups happen smoothly. It appears to be the reading of files that's scrambling the program's brains. Does anybody have a cue what is happening and how to fix it? Cris Dopher CAD Administrator George P Johnson, Inc
  21. I found this topic because I still need references and I was trying to put together a seating count worksheet based on symbols with a particular custom record attached in the referenced file. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, I can't get this to work. It sure would be nice, since I get a lot of files from the scenic team referenced in, but would like to do a worksheet for certain symbols in the master project file.
  22. I'm happy to look at this if you like. I wrangle titleblocks as part of my job. crisdopher@mac.com
  23. Ken, drop me an email and we can talk. I offer training here in NY on a one-to-one basis. Cris Dopher crisdopher@mac.com
  24. Is this in Plan view or another view? Is it in a rendered mode of some kind? Is it a standard FP symbol or some other one custom created?
