  1. Michael, it only now occurred to me that you may have meant 3D model elevations, in which case you are limited to colors or, if you have RenderWorks, (again, as the mon mentioned) you can render with textures.
  2. The ability to push and pull groups is absolutely great and something we take for granted. To add to that there are times when I wish I could grab and stretch a corner as if the group were a polygon.
  3. I believe patterns were the original tool of the very first MiniCad and I don't know if they've changed since. Hatches have their limitations and an associated learning curve, but at least you are able to adjust their direction -though creating one for a perspective would be a challenge. Check inside your VW Extras folder for a few to get you started. As the islandmon suggested, using an image as a fill style is pretty easy to get the hang of. On intensive hatches like some stone I've found that making a bitmap of it and using it as an image can actually lighten the drawing.
  4. The more you know the more you find out how little you know.
  5. Or a line similar to the roof slope line that controls origin, angle and perhaps even scale all in one.
  6. I like the point in the rounded rectangle that controls the curvature, something along those lines would be worth considering.
  7. You could also link your drawing to another layer that is set and left at the perspective you choose and then viewport that.
  8. If all drwings are set with 0,0 in the center or bottom left or wherever the references all stack where they should. If you do need to move one you can select it and at the bottom of the edit menu select unlock. When you say "Change some objects to 1:24 . . . " are you scaling the objects (should probably be called something different to reduce confusion) or adjusting the layer scale?
  9. Taproot, sometimes stumbling is the only way to get ahead. After setting your saved view and creating a viewport that view is saved on the sheet unless edited as you say.
  10. Sounds like your origin is offset. That seems to happen a lot when working on imported drawings. If the origin on the title block and drawing file are coincident everything should work how you expect it to. -Items will jump off the page because they are scaling in reference to a 0,0 that is itself off the page. Also, referencing the titleblock and then viewporting it will allow you to move that viewport instead of the drawing. On multiple sheets you can copy and paste in place the viewport from layer to layer.
  11. In the OIP on the viewport you probably saw that you can set Projection to Perspective. When you click the Set View button on the OIP the 3D rotation is, agreed, somewhat rudimentary, but if you reduce the increment value its not so hard to get what you want. The other option of course being to take a flat 2D copy of your perspective to another layer and viewport it. Setting viewports to saved views is a great idea though.
  12. Just to check and see if I was going to have problems in 11.5 I took a set of 3D polygons from an old 3 acre site, 27% slope with driveway and house site contoured; all together 70 contour lines. Not large, but it cranked out the DTM in about one second, and I don't have a monster cpu. A note form another thread - check in front or side view to make sure all your 3D polys are restricted to their z planes. Minimizing the number of vertices can't be overemphasized.
  13. If you're starting with polylines and converting them to get polygons (which you should) make sure that your 2d conversion res is set to low (in preferences). Even then you get a lot of vertices. Starting by drawing polygons with as few vertices as you can live with is makes life esier.
  14. Make sure all classes are on. I've occasionally removed similar nonentities by selecting all then deselecting everything else. Or in a worst case copy everything else to a new file.
  15. I have to admit I haven't created a DTM since moving to 11.5, but one thing to make sure on, when you say polys, are your referring to polygons or polylines? Polylines will bring your machine to its knees. Polygons, no matter how tightly spaced the vertices, are far more manageable.
  16. I NEVER knew about that Brendan. Others would be nice to see. That one is nice to have.
  17. -check that not only the symbol itself, but all items within the symbol are set to take on class characteristics.
  18. Within the symbols, or with any objects, they must have their attributes (color pallet) set to Class color, class style etc. Those that are set that way will change when you change the class default. No matter the class, you can select multiple objects and set them to class attributes and they will take on their respective characteristics.
  19. How about an Object Libraries folder in the VW folder?
  20. I didn't have your problem, but when I upgraded I found I no longer had the "Print Current View" option in the print screen. I stumbled on the fact that I first had to go into Page Setup, reset it and then back to Print and it was there. Hopefully yours can be fixed similarily. I have printed pdfs in 11.5 and sorry to say have had no quirks.
  21. When you convert to polygons make sure you are in top plan and choose wireframe as opposed to hidden. Change back to 3d polygons setting the z in the OIP.
  22. This can happen if you are adjusting nodes, don't have the "Constrain Working Plane" snap on (only is available when using the appropriate tools) and snap to either a node or plane on a different z coordinate. Best thing is to convert offenders to polygons then back to 3Dpolygons.
  23. Maybe call it grey others while in groups.
  24. The option to be able to see other objects while in groups, but limit the snaps to objects within the group.
  25. This may not garner a lot of votes, but I know I would sure like the option to be able to click to set where an individual siding or other hatch begins.
