  1. I haven't seen a PIO but have exploded a thru bolt and made one if you want it.
  2. jon, is it possible you don't have the system resources to import the whole drawing in one go?
  3. Ian, I don't use the labels so can only comment peripherally. There have been other PIOs that require refreshing. One thing you can do is use custom select (in the Organize menu) to select them all. Then one edit should be all that is required. Perhaps once selected it might be an idea to group them or assign them their own class for later editing.
  4. go here: file>vwpreferences>display tab>font mappings button.
  5. Oh, I DID find one helpful little item I had heretofore been ignorant on: the Alternate Coordinate System by mouse drag within the Constrain Angle. This works well and is at least easier than drawing a line, using it and then deleting it.
  6. I hadn't noticed oblique angles being more difficult, but that could be. I have noticed that if you can get it parallel off one side of an angle then its guaranteed you won't be able to get the other side. I even thought maybe it made a difference which direction the polygon was originally drawn but that was just wrong. I've tried different combinations of snaps, initially thinking Smart Points extension lines would be the main one but found that I can't turn off Constrain Angle or Snap to Intersection, Smart Points has nothing to do with it. If the angle is close to any other constraint, 30, 60, etc. then it is likewise a lost cause. This has been a little rock in my shoe for a long time. Thanks for the suggestions Travis, I'll look closer at those aspects.
  7. I know it works because every now and then it surprises me, but too often when I want to move a polygon node or similar in a direction parallel to itself it just doesn't happen. 30, 60, 90, perpendicular, horizontal, vertical; no problem. Holding shift only ensures that it aint so. I often have to resort to drawing a line along the poly, extending it (by any number of methods) and then going back to reshape the poly by snapping to the end of the line. Is there something I just plain have never stumbled on here?
  8. Create a viewport. On the sheet layer select the VP. On the OIP set Rendering to Hidden Line. Again on the OIP click the Render Settings button, check Sketch Hidden Line Results.
  9. Use the Split Tool in line trim mode to cut the wall at the angle you want then add cap.
  10. You might try trashing your preferences -or resetting them if you have a saved set.
  11. If we're talking about a wide flange with no subcomponents it doesn't sound like a class thing. Whatever class you are on is where it will be placed. Is your quick-time up to date?
  12. Ian, I think you've not gotten any responses because you're asking for so much at once. I'll tackle a few and perhaps others will jump in. - I would typically put my main level subfloor at 0 and reference others including the site off that, but your setup should be fine, perhaps even better with multiple buildings of equal importance. - Putting the DTM on its own layer is a good idea and not so difficult even after the fact. - Putting an outbuilding on its own layer should work fine, though if it is a simple enough structure and only at a slightly different elevation than another more complex building you could put it on the same layer as the main building and in one of the elevation views simply move it up the desired distance once you have it built. - The roof should reference off the Z value of the layer it is on via the bearing height. If you are using a roof face the axis Z is off the layer floor, not the whole drawing. - If you have a building w/ roof and other items how you like it but the whole thing needs to move you can do that from one of the elevations. Hit the different keypad numbers for shortcuts to different views. In a 3D elevation the X,Y coordinates stay on the plane of the screen, meaning moving in the Y direction will raise your model items in the Z direction. - I don't have landmark but it seems possible that if you have a roof menu item you would likely have a floor as well. They're next to each other in my Arch version. - Layer and class names for a UK gardener I will keep my nose out of. Posting in the Landmark section might get you an answer quicker.
  13. To get them all dead center first set origin to center of drawing then double-click on the move page tool to center the page on the origin.
  14. The origin is a global definition that does not reference the page or the items in the drawing, though a new file will have the page centered on the origin. Your origin isn't moving because it is already at the drawing center, what needs to move is the page. You can think of the drawing center as the center of your desk, the origin as a moveable reference point to assist in lining up papers or items on the papers, and the layers of course as the papers themselves. 15. iboymatt, Do coinciding origins on sheet layers work for you? Though I've found the origin & grid govern location on drawing layers, they have no influince on PiP for my sheets. jan15, You can still do exactly what you presently are doing as far as TBs on design layers, you would just ignore the new sheet altogether. That can even be tempting till you see all the conveniences they offer.
  16. You might check that they are not on another layer. If your layer options are set to show others this may be what has happened.
  17. An option button in the page setup to make setup changes apply to all sheets. This could also be located in the Batch Print menu so you could choose which sheets the new setup would apply to. Or even allow entry to the page setup from the layer dialogue when multiple sheets are selected. [ 06-08-2005, 07:51 PM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  18. I moved some sheets one time when I wanted different page layouts on some. When trying to realign I discovered you can't grey one or view more than one, they can be at different zoom factors or panned to different locations, though paste in place will locate objects according to the grid on design layers, this is not so on sheets. You CAN however snap to the corners of a sheet with the move page tool. The rest is obvious; just snap a line or rectange or locus to a corner of a sheet you are happy with, make sure all other sheets have the same page setup and paste this in place throughout. Then with the move page tool snap the corner of the sheet and drag it to where it needs to be. Which reminds me of a wish list item . . . [ 06-08-2005, 07:43 PM: Message edited by: Delmer ]
  19. Though I have never had the problem, I do recall the suggestion to reference this file into a new drawing. If you are able to then select items you can create duplicate layers, select all, ctrl-click to duplicate, then use the OIP to move the duplicated items to a nonreference layer.
  20. Though you don't have the control of directionals, point lights can wash a room out pretty good.
  21. jon, The images in your first post don't load for me but I had a look at the ACAD file. When I import it into VW11.5 (Windows) everything comes across fine. There are a ton of hatch definitions in that file, even if purged. This won't be the whole cause of your problem but may be partial; did you know that if you import or paste a hatch into a drawing that already has a hatch of that name the imported hatch will take on the attributes of the hatch already established in the drawing? If you didn't do this already you might try importing the drawing to a new clean VW file with no hatch definitions in it.
  22. In the print window click on the properties for the printer. It's possible you are set to portrait or have a smaller roll size selected, meaning the printer will automatically rotate the drawing to get it to fit.
  23. If you go into the properties of the hp 500 is there an option to select a roll and then also roll size? Carefully look through the options that you do have, there's likely something there.
  24. Four years later and I'm the only one to add to this request. Not too in-demand. Viewports in V11 can alleviate much of the issue. Perhaps its just my preferred method of drafting but I often find it more efficient to copy portions off sections or plans to augment for blown-up details. I've found I can't easily achieve what I'm after by viewporting these areas. The resultant request would be similar to Kenneth's, where there was a lineweight scale ability, perhaps a checkbox like the Scale Text box.
