  1. Pretty good! Model not near finished yet though.
  2. Okay....all sorted! I tried again but in a standard VW new file, instead of our company preset new template drawing. It's pasted into the main drawing happily too. So, thank you for all of your help, and sorry to waste your time, but I've learned from this exchange too anyway. Adrian
  3. hi, It wont seem to let me upload any of the files on here! IS there another way of posting the files?
  4. You might have to expand on this as I'm on basic level! Is this a different approach or in tandem with importing as .obj?
  5. maybe that's where I'm going wrong as the folders are as they downloaded in my downloads folder ( see screen shot). When importing from import command, it only lets me select a single fie and not a folder full or selection, and so I choose the .obk file.....with no success. Do I need to move the main obj folder containing the 5 other folder into a vectorwork folder somewhere or into resources? I did start with importing to a new VW drawing for the failed attempts. I had obtained advice from Turbosquid ( see screen shot) but their suggestion of unpacking the files with ZIP etc does not seem to be needed as they simply downloaded to my Mac downloads folder in normal accessible file format as you can see in first screen shot. I have now tried copying all of the files downloaded into a new folder, and importing the .obj file form within that. I don't get any error messages but it seems to process it in milliseconds ( too fast!) and afterwards there is no imported model, and the drawing is again empty. Thanks, Adrian
  6. Hi, Thanks. I just tried that and got the following message ( screen shot). I unselected the import textures options on import command and tried again...the skeletal form of the model appeared in the drawing for 2 seconds and then disappeared off the drawing ( not zoomed off to a corner either or on class or layer which is off).
  7. Hi, I've bought a download of a chair that happens to exactly match a real one our client has, and I'd like to feature it in their proposed design model. I can't seem to import any of the available;e files ( see attached screen shot). I'm a relative beginner at the 3d modelling and stumble over the nuances such as this. Can anyone please advise on how I might get this chair into Vectorworks looking like the image? AND how do I go about dealing with the associated textures? Thanks Adrian
  8. it's the simple stuff that makes your day!, thanks!
  9. Similar to the display fix you provided above, how do you switch off the blue page grid when rendering? See attached images.
  10. Hi, Thanks for all the suggestions and time you've spent! After speaking to a VSS advisor we discovered that by altering / cropping the image pre insertion to VW, it can be made to insert at a more realistic horizon height. I then made lots of backgrounds and activated each for each view, took off an image and then onto the next and so on. takes time but ok for a beginning and conveyed what I wanted. A surrounding image would be better as you suggest which would save time as each window view would instantly show it actual view. I'll try the cylinder method for sure!
  11. Having searched the web and VSS for over an hour, I can not seem to find any text or video tutorials on the detail of the above. I can find the tutorial on the basic set up of selecting a photo image and setting up in resources etc, but I need a little more than this. I am trying to apply a photo image of a scene / view that will be seen from the window of a proposed extension model I am doing. Unfortunately after insertion, the image appears to be the wrong height or alignment in that the the view through the window looks to below the horizon. The camera height and look-to heights are the same and so hopefully no issue there. I have tried changing the overall size of the render work image to see if it helps align the horizon better, but no luck. I think if I could get the image to elevate to a new height, this might look better, but there seems to be no control over the positioning of the background image....or is there? PANO I've also played around with using the panoramic version/ option even though I have no pano photos suitable. What I might have done would be to stitch the photos I need into a rough pano ( using phhotoshop) that might work, but again, I can't find the commands to fine tune the pano settings to the sphere, so that I can get the correct image to align with the window i.e. have window facing west align with the pano sphere such that the west view image appears in that window. Any help welcomed on either or both of the above as I needs to prepare imagery for a client meeting ASAP this week and it does seem like it should be an easy fix if the information is out there? 12. I've another query I'd love help with if anyone knows the answer: The windows and doors I've taken from the resource manager appear to render very oddly in final renderwork ( it does not happen in shaded render). See attached screen shots where I shown both a shaded render and Fast render version of same view. Is this some setting for rendering glass as it seems to affect all glazing? It's like a fish eye effect and very dark reflectance.
