  1. Peter, Unfortunately there is one version of VW on the machines in question and the file has stayed on that machine. I have tried the Command-Open option as well but with no luck. We did however notice on the last file it happened to, the file size shrank from 450k to 75k. Quite strange! Robin G
  2. iMac G5 running OS10.3.7 & VW11 On two separate machines running the same configuration, we have suffered the same problem. Files have been created, saved and the application closed. When an attempt has been made to open the files again we get the message "This is an unrecognized file type. It may be a VectorWorks file created by a newer version..or a very old MiniCAD file...it may have been corrupted by a hardware or system error" We have a number of Macs running the same system and this problem has now occurred three time, resulting in the loss of work etc! We are gradually upgrading all machines to OS10.3.9 and VW11.5.1. In the meantime are there any thoughts about what can be done (and yes, disk utilities has been run!)? Many thanks
  3. I have deleted the plotter driver and re-installed it and it still does not solve the problem of Vectorworks crashing when I tell it to print to the plotter. Also, I cannot plot from other applications to the HP plotter without the application crashing (eg word or excel). I can, however now print from VW to other printers without a problem. So, the problem seems to be between my Mac and the plotter. Any more ideas? Would a plotter firmware help?
  4. My suspicion is that it is a driver issue but I don't know. I downloaded the latest driver from the HP website. After I installed it and tried plotting, everything would crash no matter what I tried printing or whereever I tried printing to (eg MS Word going to a local printer etc). I am just using the HP driver, not Gimp print or anything. A simple rectangle does not work either. The error message is a simple statement that the Application has unexpectedly quit & did I want to report it to Apple. I've run disk utility but no joy. I haven't tried to delete & reinstall the printer although I do turn it off as a selected printer which solves the application crashing problem and lets me print other stuff (by the way I can print A4 & A3 drawings to other printers - not plotters - with no problem).
  5. A similar problem but different. Mac G4 with OS 10.3.7 running Vectorworks 10.5.1 trying to plot over an internal network to an HP 800ps. It doesn't work and crashes VW when I try to plot. I've posted this elsewhere but no joy. I could probably do it using a plot server but that is just one more computer which we do not really want. Does anyone have any ideas?
  6. Dear R.Craig So, do I assume that the reinstallation of the Printer did not do anything? We have exactly the same set up as you (ie OS10.3.7 with VW 10.5.1 & HP 800ps) and all I want to do is plot from my Mac! I managed to uninstall the postscript files after speaking to HP but an uninstall on their download would be useful!
  7. Dear R.Craig Did anything work because we seem to have the same problem and I don't have an uninstall driver for the HP (I folowed your suggestion re copying and pasting and it did not work for me!). Help would be appreciated
