  1. Or use the Move command; a handy dialog box comes up with an arrow to indicate which direction it assumes you want to move it. Use a positive or negative number as you wish.
  2. Give them a texture by class. You can have different attributes to the door components, like inside and outside leaf, trim, frame, etc.
  3. Just to confirm: you want to see an actual section of the chair in your drawing? If so, insert the chair symbol into your plan (assuming it has a 3D component), and then cut a section viewport through it. You will get a view of your plan and its walls, etc, (assuming you have used 3D wall objects, not lines for your walls) in section which should include your chair. It is a good idea to include your computer and VW's specifics in your signature so that others can address your issues with that knowledge at hand. See mine as an example.
  4. See the Benchmark Elevation Tool in Dims/Notes tool set. It does what you want.
  5. Can you repeat the question, please? What do you mean by "the execution buttons"? And "doesn't scale"? What are you trying to do? Increase/decrease the width of the wall?
  6. Are you in a design layer? I don't that should matter though. Is it perhaps a screen vs. layer plane setting?
  7. GG67 Just set your units in VectorWorks Unit preferences to that. The label symbol in the space picks up on that.
  8. Can anybody direct me to someone at Nemetschek who would be able to translate a number of MiniCad 6 drawings to VW 2011 format, please? Thanks in advance.
  9. Lee, I don't have an answer re. showing the shim. There is nothing automatic to do this, as far as I know.
  10. Hi Dybowski, For 1: Set up your windows properly and this will do what you what. Make your windows with sizes of say 970 mm width with 15 mm as a shim gap, for your overall rough opening and then you will be able to dimension to the window opening at, in this example, 1000 mm. For 2: not that I know of unless you enter the wall length as a block module. However then when you join it to another wall, that overall length will change as the wall length is determined, I think, at the centre line. You can use some temporary lines as block module guides and stretch or shrink the walls to be on the module. We do that sometimes. You should provide a signature that describes your VW's version and computer set-up. This could help in any future questions that you might have. Cheers.
  11. I may be missing something here but is not the Batch Render in the View menu what you are looking for, at least partially? It doesn't record or print your render settings but does batching.
  12. Joris, The fillet tool works on polygons; we use this feature all the time. You should 1. post the file in which you are having the problem. 2. Install a "signature" that describes the version of VW you are using, and your computer specs, for better answers. Why would this happen in your 'project' file but not in a new one? Perhaps your project file is from a previous version, or something like that?
  13. jnr, It's Wednesday (at least here). Can you show us what you came up with for the bridge design. Sounds fascinating!
  14. Fred, When we have had to model curtainwall for 3D purposes, we just extrude 2"x 6" shapes and run them both vertically and horizontally. Put an aluminum texture on it and you've got curtainwall. Put a thin extrude in for glazing and thicker ones for spandrels. Not for BIM-like purposes though. Sometimes for plan purposes or simple renderings, we use the glazed wall tool. But not a lot of vertical control there.
  15. I see no one has answered you after a number of days. I don't think you will find a texture that will simply replicate a diamond the way you want. You might be able to use a glass texture on a model of a diamond that actually is a conglomeration of the facets of a diamond. I don't mean just a surface model but what is going on under the surface. Complicated I think unless you understand diamonds.
  16. Yes, it is a simple question. The answer is VW doesn't do sloped walls. You would or could use solid modeling shapes but they won't work like VW's walls do, i.e. how doors, windows, etc. work with walls.
  17. If you are looking for a floor plan type view (you don't say if this is an architectural kind of drawing or not), select the Top/Plan in the View Menu, and export to DWG using 2D elements only. There is no conversion per se, just a selection of the kind of view and then the kind of export you want. Welcome to Vectorworks.
  18. din, I think you are on the cutting edge of this process. There is no straight-forward way to export from VW to SU as far as I know. If you are going to do a lot of this kind of thing, it might be better (less costly?) to get RW and do what you need to do there. OTOH, I don't know what SU environmental plugins are so I don't know if you can get what you need in RW in the end. Best of luck with this.
  19. bcd, thanks. I see that option now in the Resource Browser. I can do the PS thing OK. Great!
  20. I have used a typical VW texture for some of the walls in a building model. Now I want to change that texture's colours but find I am stumped. The texture is Shingle Wood Irregular. This is composed of a number of different colours and I want to change the colours to be lighter, anyways using custom colours. If I go to the Texture and attempt to edit it, I can change it somewhat by using one colour as a filter in Image/Edit. But this doesn't change it enough. I don't have an alternate image to use in lieu of this one. Any ideas out there?
  21. Beanus, I think you are seeing the Database Header. In your worksheet, turn that off.
  22. Those are big files. Could that be part of the problem?
  23. Can you post the files and let us have a look?
