Thanks, Guy-- changing my Keyboard Prefs to have the Tab move the keyboard focus to "Text boxes and lists only" seems to have done the trick. Never mattered in earlier versions, for some reason.

Hello? All of the previous versions allowed me to use the TAB button to switch between entering the X coordinate and entering the Y coordinate while in the "Move Selection" pop-up window. Now the TAB button does not do anything, so I have to use the mouse to switch between X and Y coordinates. Please fix, I use this command all the time.

Does anyone know of a plywood hatch that changes orientations as the material direction changes? As of now, I use a plywood hatch that is oriented 90?, so each time I change the orientation of the material, I have to reassign a new hatch. And as for curves, there is no orientation whatsoever, so they just look weird. BTW, I know about linear material, but prefer not to use that as it is clunkier than just drawing shapes. Thanks!

Thanks for all of the replies!-- mk, I think your last post hit the nail on the head for what I need-- a list of blank sizes required, and a drawing that accurately represents what the trim will look like for my installation crew to follow. I think I will dink around with the file you created and figure out how to apply that to my drawing. I don't have a lot of experience with the records and data, so I am stumbling at best! Hello, I am working on a large file that has about 40 various symbols, each one representing a different length piece of wood trim. All is all, there are about 6,000 pieces of wood trim, made up from these 40 lengths, (or "symbols") The reason for creating these as symbols is so that when the drawing is completely laid out, I will be able to print off a spreadsheet and use it as a cut list for the trim manufacturer. The problem I am having is that I need to alter some of these pieces of wood symbols in the drawing, without affecting every other piece that is the same symbol. For instance, the drawing has 150 pieces at 60" (this is a symbol called 60" trim). One of these runs into on obstruction and needs to shrink to 58", but if I try to change just this one, it will change all of the others. For the purposes of my spreadsheet, I need to keep the symbol at 60" long, as it will be field cut to the final 58". There are about 200 of these instances in the drawing, so creating a symbol for each of these smaller trim pieces is not an option. Does anyone know how I can change some of these symbols here and there, keeping the symbol's count in the spreadsheet, but have the appearance of these symbols be unique in the drawing? Hello. I have a cabinet shop, and we work in inches, yet use European hardware that is mostly metric. Is there a vectorscript or something out there that would allow me to have both english and metric dimensions in one viewport/document. These are our shop documents that we build off of. As of now, you set the unit preference in the document preferences panel, and that applies to every single dimension you pull in the whole document. Oh, and lets not turn this into a "Metric is better than English" discussion please: I already know that. ;-) Any advice is appreciated! BH

Back when I used VW 2008, every time I placed a drawing label inside a viewport, the label title defaulted to the name I gave the viewport. (i.e., viewport name = "front elevation," drawing label automatically says "front elevation." Now in 2009, the drawing label always defaults to blank ( " ".) Therefore, I have to type in the name for each individual label AND viewport, rather than just typing the name in the viewport popup. Picky, I know, but these seconds add up to minutes which add up to hours... you get the idea. Am I missing a preference, or should I just post this in the wish list? Thanks! Bo

Hello-- I would love to find a tool that works like a french curve, something that would mimic the action of drawing with one using pencil and paper. I find that the smoothing in NURBS Or Bezier isn't ever what I want. Does anyone know of a tool that would allow me to place a digital french curve over an area of a drawing, rotate and scale to size, and then select the portion I want to use for the drawing as a line? Any advice is appreciated!

Hello-- I am sorry that this thread has gotten off topic, because, YES, I am having the same type of problems! I never have had an issue using 2008, but I recently upgraded to 2009 and since then am having multiple display issues. On my brand new imac (upgraded to NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS with 512MB memory, 4Gig Ram, and 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo), I am getting constant Ghosting and screen freezes as I try to scroll--in the middle of scrolling, my screen keeps "snapping" back to the same point in the design layer, and freezing there for 5-10 seconds until I grab the "hand" tool and manually move the page. On my Macbook Pro, it is completely useless-- won't refresh at all and I visually lose over 80% of the drawing whenever I scroll at all. Regardless of MAC vs. PC (after all, this is made to work on both platforms) what gives?

Hello- I posted this a couple of years ago, but hope there may be some new changes: I have a friend using CAD, and he sends over drawings with 3-d, perspective drawings, all dimensioned accurately. He says that it is done in the viewport with the dimensioning tool. However, when I try to pull a dimension in Vectorworks(2008) on a 3-d object, it does not work. Is there a special tool to do this with? Many thanks!

I would love a woodscrew tool-- similar to the existing bolt tool, but with a tapered tip on the end of it. Thanks!

Can someone help me figure out how to dimension in a perspective view of a 3-d object. For instance, If I were to create a cube, and set it into a viewport at at 3/4 view, whenever I try to pull dimensions from corner to corner, all I get is the distance as it appears, not the ACTUAL distance between the points. Is it possible to have dimensions in such a view? Any help is appreciated!
