  1. I posted this accidentally to Tech Notes section, but as there's been no replies, I try again (sorry for double posting): I'd like to use VW's Room Name and Space tools, but they add S.M to every areal calculation. This does not make sense, and it is not usable in my local building culture (Finland, Europe); areal dimensions should be given in standard mathematical format m2 (where number 2 should be written as an exponent, of course...) 1) Is it possible to change the default S.M. text or to make VW not to add it automatically to areal dimensions? 2) Is it possible to change text to superscript style in order to write exponents? Thank you! -anni

  4. Thank you, Robert; I changed the system preferences so that the decimal separator is now a period. Voil?, numbers started to work OK.
  5. The VW Architect grid bubble tool works otherwise fine, but I can't make sense of the label numbering. If the starting mark is set to "A", the resulting labels are as expected A, B, C and so forth. However, if I set it "1", the result is 1, 1,01, 1,0101, 1,010101 and so on. So, what happens with numbers is that 01 is added automatically at the end of the given starting mark. I'd like to have the grid labels to be of the type 1, 2, 3 etc. What am I doing wrong? thanks in advance -anni
  6. Katie, We've faced the same annoying problem with dwg export as well. Different line weight settings disappear and dwg export from sheet layers (viewports) doesn't work at all as expected (I posted about this 26 Jan 2005): items from layers that are set invisible become visible and everything is flatted into a single layer. Our office is using Mac OS 10.3.7 & VW Architect+RenderWorks 11.0.1. -anni
  7. Yes, this is true, the DWG versions work perfectly. I was just wondering if there is a specific VectorWorks/GDL translator available on the market. GDL Explorer converts GDL objects to DWG, DXF etc.; GDL Adapter modifies GDL objects to AutoCad-friendly format. These two programmes are available only in Windows, however. -anni
  8. Is there a way to import GDL object libraries to Vector Works (11.0.1)? An increasing amount of building manufacturers appear to provided these and our office here in Fia would benefit from them greatly. I just downloaded one library from a window manufacturer, but VW doesn't recognise it. Is the only way to persuade some friendly Archicad user to modify them into 3D symbols? The cherry on the cake is that GDL Adapter and GDL Explorer programmes support Windows and we're on MAC. -anni
  9. I've created a ceiling drawing file with several design layers in different scales and 4 sheet layers. Each sheet layer consists of several viewports from 1-3 layers and they show the desired contents beautifully. As I now need to send my design to the HVAC designers, I exported one of the sheet layers to DWG. To my great disappointment, the result was very different from the expected: - there were items visible from layers that were set invisible and not referred to in the original sheet layer - everything was flatted into a single layer I've triple checked the layer visibility settings in the viewports and explored both the manual and this forum, but I haven't found anything that might solve the problem. Any assistance is appreciated; is it really so (as I fear) that dwg's should be exported from design layers only? We're using Mac OS 10.3.7 & VW Architect+RenderWorks 11.0.1. -anni

  11. We've also experienced the extremely odd multiple selection problem (shift + click) with OS Mac 10.3.7 running on 1.8 GHz PowerPC G5s. One of our VW 11.0.1 Architect+Renderworks programmes now works OK after we updated the OS to 10.3.7; another similar system has never even had the problem. Oddly enough, now one of our machines working with the basic VW 11 has stopped doing multiple selections with shift+click. It worked OK before; the only thing we can recall to have taken place within the last few days is that we added one new user to the computer. -anni arkvv.fi | arkkitehtitoimisto vartola & viljamaa
