  1. Well, I guess some of these posts answer my question about text wrap. Looks like I'm going to output a blank sheet for the Specifications page and open it in Illustrator, then set up the text columns and flow the text in. Not ideal...
  2. I've also found that if you 'tab' out of the change in the editing box, that the change will be recorded.
  3. How would one add the sill height for windows to the window schedule? I'm quite new to VW, but I'll take a guess (below). I'm reluctant to mess with things for fear of scrambling something! It seems that the schedule worksheet(?) looks to the "record" for each window for its data. I looked at the .txt file for 'window record' and I see the various categories, but I'm not at all clear on how the record is getting it's data from the window object. My guess is that one would need to add a line to the window record to 'look up' the sill height (or head height) setting for the given window object. Then a column would be added to the schedule with the correct 'reference' in the database line to include the sill height info from the record. That's my guess on how it would be done, but I have no idea how to actually do it.
  4. I had the same problem as Seena - I'm using the Windows version (the Mac version might behave better). It's a really bad User Interface issue. Unlike 'normal' spreadsheet applications, when you are editing a worksheet(?) in VW, you have to make the change to the cell in the box at the top of the window, then click on the green 'check mark' to actually record the change. This issue peeved the heck out of me until we figured it out.
  5. As a newbie, I was quite confused by all this. My situation was that I was placing door and window ID symbols in a drawing - the window symbols were basically fine, but the door sybols were messed up. The circle was the right size, but the text was way too small. I just figured out what Robert is talking about above: In the Resource Browser, (where you would pull up a set of windows or fixtures) click on the pull-down list under "Files and Folders", and go all the way to the top where your file name should be listed. In the window below, you should see all the 'plugged-in' elements in your drawing. Somewhere in all of that should be the "root" ID symbol that you're having trouble with. (In my case the "Door ID 1-48". Single click on that symbol to select it, then right click and go up to 'Edit'. A dialog box will appear with the heading "Edit Symbol". Select "2D Component" and click the "Edit" button. This symbol will appear by itself in your main window. Click on just the text element to select it and look in the Object Info window. You should have options to set the font and size of the text in the symbol. Make your changes and click on the "Exit Symbol" button on the upper right corner of your main window. All the instances of your ID symbol should update to reflect the change you made. Ta Da! (But the annoying thing is: why were the window symbols OK, but the door symbols messed up in the first place?)
  6. I just had to add winders to a stair to create clearance for a stair below. Fun. It's going to be even more interesting when the Structural Engineer tells us the exact depth of construction and I have to re-figure the elevations for the winder elements (3d polys). Wheeeee.
  7. Is that "the German version of VW" or is that simply Nemetschek? (I don't know what the 'official' name is, my German friends just call it 'Nemetschek') As a new user, the current stair tool is an upgrade from what I was doing before - BUT there is soooo much room for improvement! (Pssst - it will sell upgrades, but don't tell any of the end users that...)
  8. Wow! I just did it - it works, but this is an amazingly schlocky way of handling this. This is screaming for an improvement at the next point release!
  9. we don't need no settings, let the.... Oh, wait. I couldn't resist. I was going to mention the whole issue of layer and class settings for the viewport, but the behavior you're describing sounds more like an OpenGL glitch or similar. Do they all come back at once, or bit by bit as you zoom out? Like Travis is asking, which rendering mode are you using?
