Are later viewports rendering correctly, or are they completely black? When you said ‘at the very last second’ I was thinking it might be a gpu issue, ie that the card is ‘full’…?
-
Hehe, I know a lot of you boat guys are very helpful, which I appreciate a lot. If I will not be able to have it done in VW, I’ll consider asking some of you to provide the flats. I still like to think VW could do the trick, it only needs to combine some existing possibilities… 😇
-
Hi Art, thanks for your reply. The boat itself is fairly simple (it’s a ski tow wooden boat) and has been made before, but without CAD for the production part of it. We manage to have the hull in 3D in the correct shape and all. It’s ‘just’ that we need to extract the sides in order to send it to our CNC…
-
Thanks for your advise, I’ll try this myself first as well… 🤓 But the main question still stands: how can I have VW do the trick of unfolding a hull? Be it #Marionette, #VectorScript or a hidden trick almost noone remembers, I can’t stand my favorite cad brand hides its hand 😇
-
Forget the intelligent textures, why not have our skates on and let #Marionette take care of it! Anyone in the room willing to try & complete the ‘unfold double curved surface’ challenge?
-
Thanks! I'll have a look... 😉 Come to think of it, wouldn't it be nice to have 'intelligent' textures that can unfold in 2D the same way they are projected on an object?
-
Hi Claes, this is awesome! But you leave me no other option than to ask the name of the progam you use for the unfolds…
-
Hi Claes, Thanks for your comment. My main concern is how to unfold a double curved surface as the hull of a boat is. I'm trying to help out students with their technical drawing and CAM files for the boat they're planning to make & was hoping VW could have the genius option (somehow) for the trick 'other' CAD programs lack...

Awesome playground indeed! @markb did you get the job done eventually?
-
Bump! Would it be doable to use Subdivision in making the hull & after that use Unfold Surfaces for extracting the sides?

WebView Best Practices and Known Issues
Jan-Burger TROOST commented on Jim Wilson's article in Troubleshooting
Hello Rick, VR works fine in a browser window on both your iPhone or compuer. I do this on a very regular basis. Maybe we can meet in Rotterdam so I can show & help you with the settings? Just DM me for contact details! De groeten! JB -
WebView Best Practices and Known Issues
Jan-Burger TROOST commented on Jim Wilson's article in Troubleshooting
Hi @inikolovaThanks for your reply. Of course I should have used a browser instead of Nomad for the vr split screen… Could it be that Nomad will have the capability to do this from within the app in a ‘soonish’ update? -
WebView Best Practices and Known Issues

It seems that on my iPhone I miss the Eye and 360 buttons when viewing a 3D .vgx file in Nomad. Is this a browser only option? -
What file syncing services are you using?
Jan-Burger TROOST replied to Christiaan's topic in General Discussion
Hopefully OneDrive will make it to the list of syncing services some day soon… -
My wish: VW2020 to have no new features. Please.
Jan-Burger TROOST replied to line-weight's question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
<wishfulthinking> Now that would make a lot of interior designers switch from SU to VW, here in The Netherlands... </wishfulthinking> -
Online HDR as Renderworks background?
Jan-Burger TROOST posted a question in Wishlist - Feature and Content Requests
How do I use it as an HRI background when I only have an online webpage of, let's say, an empty exhibition hall? In the Resource Palette I can select .HDR, .EXR, .JPG or .PNG as downloaded file, but I'm missing the option to use a hyperlink. If this is not possible yet, please move this topic to the wishlist items... 😉 Cheers, JB -
Sore brain? RDF you mean! 🤓 At the Summit all was fine, back in school I learned a Reality Distortion Field has that name for a reason… Looking forward to all the future contributions of y’all — be it summit or the forum. Thanks again for hosting the event the way you did!

So subtitles will be easier, I guess…?
-
Actually I ment the instruction videos in the LMS… 😉
-
This is just SO freaking awesome!! Can’t wait to have it used by my students. Will there be an option to select subtitles to the video’s rather than translation voice overs?
-
Awesome location for a summit! Arrived yesterday evening after a long but smooth flight from Amsterdam. Hope to have adapted to the -9 timezone by tomorrow.
-
Looking forward to meeting you all. Will be my first time your side of the pond… The app is a good way of introducing attendees & finding your way during the event. Thanks again for adding the Lunch & Learn on Tuesday!

VW2019 Fundamentals - Tools Taken Away
Jan-Burger TROOST replied to Bret's topic in General Discussion
What I meant was: please don’t skip anything (more) in the edu version… We’re good to go with what we have now. Students sometimes use the library other vendors have to import items they miss. — Or simply don’t have time/capabilities to make within their project. All functions they need are still there. Could use some improvement to stairs, though. But that’s already mentioned in other treads. -
Hello, How do I rotate along line in 3D? Let's say I have two extruded hexagons that are connceted side by side (see attachment). I'd like to rotate the left one 90 degrees to the right one, like there is a hinge between the two. 2 small details: the connceted side is not and should not be aligned to the X or Y axe & rotating the left hex along the side of the white cube is not the preferred method. I'm looking for a Vectorworks 3D-function that will do the trick for me...
