  1. VSS's only real advantage is the discount. This forum provides sound technical advice. If you only renew your licence every 3 to 4 years then there is no advantage or discount. I want speed and performance improvements. Niceties such as the title block improvements are a waste and in fact now too complicated.
  2. It is already subscription based in the UK with VSS and annual renewals. A high price increase if you don't subscribe. Not knowing what is in next years upgrade is frustrating. So you subscribe in hope that next years version is worth it without knowing what you are paying for. A few hints would be fair. Its funny that the word 'fix' is used as its an admission that there was a problem in the first place and before release. The software should be fully tested and fixed before release. Not left to users to fins sand report. If there is no time then annual releases are too frequent and perhaps it should be every 2 to 3 years but not at a higher price.
  3. Just gone through the same process again. For better or worse I have kept our subscription for 2019. Brand loyalty more than anything else! Feel like yourself Matt that there will be no significant improvements. Improving performance is needed. VW is slow. I have just purchased a top spec bespoke pc and still it takes a while for VW to render basic renders and often comes up with 'not responding'.
  4. Well I continued with SSL for 3 licences and upgraded to Architect 2018. However, due to heavy workload and wanting a smooth transfer I have only just downloaded and started using 2018. It has not been a smooth transfer. As reported in other threads start up time can be 3 minutes plus. Viewports take 20 minutes or more to update. VW 'not responds' quite frequently and occasionally crashes. Maybe its time to buy new 3 computers and 2 laptops - an added expense that I am not happy with and wish I had known before upgrading.
  5. 3 D trees in resources are just too big in file size to use - add one or two and the file easily becomes of 100 MB, viewports take long to update and vw starts not responding and crashes. And the trees are not flexible - being symbols you change the height on one tree and then all the other trees change height.
  6. 2 minutes 47 seconds start time. Not 'responding' came up.
  7. Everything so simple and quick! No downtime waiting for rendering etc. It would be useful to know the spec of the pc that was in the video?
  8. Thank you or your replies. The pc is a Dell Precision T5610 with 64 bit operating system and has 16GB RAM, 2.10GHz processor and 500GB HDD [50% used]. NVIDIA Quadro K40000 graphics. Perhaps and if there is a slot available, I add a 1TB SDD to run alongside the existing HDD?
  9. VW is running slow on my PC and 'not responding' quite frequently and takes time to start. 3 minutes to open up. At times several minutes to render simple 3D viewports in HL. The pc is taking time to start up. Can crash at times especially with renderworks. My IT adviser says a new SSD of 500GB or 1TB would improve performance. The existing drive is a HDD. The existing c drive 500 GB HDD may be coming to iyts end of life. So what's best for VW and rendering - HDD or SSD?
  10. Thank you for your reply. I also tried it on an Iphone 6 and had the same problem. Here's the link: https://vgx.vectorworks.net/export-m1496762526426j1496762526426w/WebGlTemplate.html
  11. I got myself a cheap VR headset [iTech VR] to try out web view on my mobile [Samsung Note 3]. The web view 3D model exports ok and can be seen on my pc screen and my phone but the image remains static. I can look around but I can not get the 360 deg walk through to work. I look down and focus the dot on the walk speeds - + and whilst the toggles spin nothing happens and there is no movement. What am I doing wrong?
  12. I go through this every year when the VSS bill comes in for 3 licences. Pity I did not date it to coincide with the release of info for the next version. Recently and or the fourth time I have now renewed more out of loyalty then anythings else.....which is crazy I know ..... but I am a loyal customer and it would be nice to get a few more rewards and benefits.
  13. Three days ago Vectorwork files have been saving to a date in March 2016. The date and year are correct but not the month. For example today 9 March 2016 rather than 9 September 2016. This is happening on all our pcs and not on one pc on existing files and new files when opened. Obviously this is frustrating as we can't easily find files and have no record when drawings have been modified or started. This is not happening on Word or other programmes. We updated vw 2016 to the current service pack about 7 to 10 days ago. Windows 10 updates about every 2 months and this happened 2 to 3 weeks ago. There have been no other updates. We are protected by BullGuard protection which has not detected any virus or bug issues. The problem only started 3 days ago and did not coincide with the these updates. The problem is not with any other programmes. The corect date is shown on the pc settings. It is unlikely to be a system issue as it is happening on 2 different pcs. Whilst I am not an expert, I would say the problem is more likely to be an incompatibility between the latest version of vectorworks 2016 and windows 10 but if so the problem would have started 2 to 3 weeks ago. I believe the problem is with vectorworks. Any help appreciated.
  14. More useful for 3D work rather than 2D. Eitherway I find that I am still adding hatches in the viewport.
  15. Will it calculate u values and saps and heat loss?
  16. I changed the settings but left the second monitor on. Not all the settings are the same as the link but as you say I have changed them best I can. So far it has not crashed....but I have not used vw much so I will see what happens. And if it does I disconnect the second monitor. I will keep you up dated. Thank you for your help.
  17. The hardware meets the requirements. One pc has gone down to seven crashes a day - but is that normal and acceptable?
  18. Number of operations sounds good - did not know you could do that. Its not happening in one particular file it is happening on all files and not on one pc but on 3 pcs.
  19. I have 3 licences for vw architect with render works on 3 pcs. 2 pcs on win 7 and 1 on win 8. All 3 keep crashing or not responding. Tried all ways of sorting it out but still have problems. Upgraded to 2016, did a complete fresh install, updated all drivers but all 3 still keep crashing frequently like several times a day. I am having to to an auto save every 10 minutes. Been in contact with vss and they don't know what the problem is and can not fix it. Decided to upgrade all pcs to win 10 and update drivers again. Not sure its worked yet. Vectorworks on one pc is going extremely slow and not responding. So I doubt the problem is fixed. Reading here I see that other users are having similar ongoing problems so obviously there is a problem with the software. So when will it be fixed?
  20. Jim, thanks for your reply. What's a real pain is downloading the upgrade. You tick download licenses. It appears there is no option to just down one licence at a time on each pc. So the download is going to one pc. We have 3 licenses for architect and renderworks. Over 8 hours later and the upgrade is still downloading and its on its fifth zipped file. One file has failed.
